It appears their are more and more scammers coming to light but nevertheless their are , i guess 3 main options to correspond with a russian / Ukrainian girl
1) put and advert in the russian newspapers ( works well)
2) subscribe to a paysite .not good as you pay for emails or addresses and you could spend fortunes writing to girls that do not like you
3) free sites. (good because they get to see you and reply to you ,but herein lay the problem. are they trying to get something from you.)
I should say from the outset that my girlfriend is russian and i was lucky.

ways to spot a scammer

1) if the first email goes on about their entire life and the history of their city all neatly laid out in an email , be careful
2) If you keep getting the same photo through , be careful
3) if the email contains too many americanisms , they are probably experienced in this.
4) if they suddenly tell you that they are using a translator and cannot speak with you on the phone. ask them to write the email in russian and tell them you can understand and speak some russian. (for some reason , they are put off by this ...too much effort i guess.
5) always always say that you want to visit them. As I am english , it is impossible for them to come to england unless the man visits them first. They will not get a visa. ( do not send them visa money)in us it may be different.
6) if you do speak with them on the telephone, it may not be their phone and if they want to meet you outside their city or country first (like turkey or egypt) , insist that you go to them. this is normally enough to put them off and seek easier prey.

Having said all that , the genuine russian / ukraine girls are fantastic and DO have a sense of Humour.
I still get lots of emails a day as i love exposing the dodgy ones and I can spot a dodgy email from 40 paces.

I would add to the list - iF IT LOOKS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE IT IS NOT TRUE - I know that scammers can sense and intuitively know when they are dealing with a potential victim - many men are vulnerable due to loneliness, isolation , the break up of marriage as well as the difficultties of meeting potential spouses when job / career / time / age limits this possibilty to such an extent that it becomes impossible. The internet has helped many people find thier partner but the internet is a tool which has to be used wisely and with alot of dispassion . I have said absoutely nothing new and you who read this are probably struck by the ordinaryness of the message but to repeat myself again - If it is too good to be true it isnt true .

As one scammer said to me as I eat a meal with her " The light at the end of the tunnel may be the headlights of an oncoming articulated lorry "

There are many women who are genuine but genuine is not desperate and the little I know is that a woman form russia will not sacrifice home , career , country and her own culture and contact with familly if the man is not exceptional ie not a loser.

I think that also that many men do not understand the true cost of a relationship with a woman from the fsu - the lady sacrifices alot and the man must too - many men do not factor the difficulties at the start as well as along the way - langauge , culture, work ,etc.

It takes a certain type of personality to be able to do this .

I disagree with some thing that was said ie it easy to spot a scammer - if no money is asked for at the correspondance stage but only at the meeting stage you only know when you have met whetehr someone is genuine or taking you for a ride.
- again IMHO it is 100% better to meet and see her in person . A scammer wants to be with you for the minumum amount of time but wants the maximum amount of $ from you - if you sense you are being used then run ( I dont mean the cost of railway/ train fare to meet or cost of a meal ).
