Ring sizes in the fsu ?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

My gf says that her ring size is 16- this is a russian method of measuring ring sizes.

My gf intends to buy two rings in the UKraine- she knows her own ring size but she needs to know my ring size in the russian equivalent .

As my ring size is T 1/2 ( UK system ) does anyone know how to convert my ring size into the russian euivalent ?

Rattle

I *believe* that 16 is the diameter in millimeters. My Olga's ring size is 17.

Here's a chart for converting ring size: Ring Size Conversion Chart

Nadja and I bought our rings in Ukraine in January. They were all quoted in mm / inside diameter.

James.

Nothing there mention's Russia ring size conversion, are they the same as Japan?

I did find a conversion chart once, but I can't seem to locate it. I can however confirm that they are given in the inside diameter in millimeters.

Here is a chart http://www.celtarts.com/ring_size.htm the size for Russians is the internal diameter in millimetres as far as I am aware.

So size 18 is around a size 8 in the US

Here is an online conversion chart .....http://www.onlineconversion.com/ring_size.htm just use European measurements for Russia.

Again a size 8 US is 18 in Europe, shown as Germany on the chart.

Here is another one http://www.niceice.com/ring_sizes.htm agaion all the sizes match in them all.

Okay, so you are confident that Germn = Russian ring size?

Thank you, I was thinking about getting her a small gift, maybe a birthstone or something

I am pretty sure the size is same as European, but if it is slightly wrong it won't be by much and you could easily get it altered cheaply over there anyway.

Ahh, internal diameter, in mm, thank you sir, again - you should charge me for all this advice, WAIT, nevermind...

Now I am going to confuse you all, Gonlaz your lady says she is an 18, so I am pretty certain she is using the European size charts which is a US 8....however, it is actually a 57.75 in Russian sizes? I have never heard of them using this size range, but look at this chart for Russian ring sizes.

http://www.diamondarticles.com/ring-size.php

Sorry to confuse things, but I would stick with the 18 size as being correct.

Maybe it is ieasier to take her a necklace and earings

hehe... I can guarantee that I have never seen a ring size such as 57.75 here! I've even measured myine and zhanna's rings just to make sure and the inside diameter in mm tallies

OK this is the last chart I am going to give you, but unfortunately for you Gonlaz it is a 57 3/4...put 18 European in the chart and click, it converts it to a Russian 57 3/4 so there must be a Russian ring size chart that is unique to them and the French???

What about perfume?

Ahh hell, I guess I 'll just bring her a puppy, heh

I wouldn't bring a ring as a gift, way too difficult to get the size right. OH an by the way jewelry is just like dress sizes. A size 7 is not always a perfect size 7.

Ear rings are a great second gift. if she has pierced ears. Check the photos of her to see if she is wearing ear rings in any of them.

and if you have a brain cramp at customs and they ask if you have any jewelry or things of that nature you may say yes and be forced to pay a hefty duty.

Just tell them the ear rings are your's! If you haven't given them to anyone they still belong to you! Right?

Hang on there one minute! do you mean to say we have all now wasted our time finding out about ring sizes?

NO, none of this information has been wasted on me, not at all!

I am worried I will slip and say that I do have kewelry with me, first time traveling overseas and I'm so neurotic I am sure I will freak out when they ask me and rat myself out.

I have kept all the links and have put them to good use, I am having 2 issues right now with this. Now she is swearing that she wears a size 17 RUSSIAN, but I don't see any Russian ring sizes as 17 on them. Furthermore she got upset with me (I don't know, maybe she wasn't upset, she uses an awful lot of these things "!!!!!!" so I can't tell if sh'es mad or if this is just the russian way of typing?) when I asked about her ring size and what kind of stones she likes, so maybe I shouldn't bring any jewelry.

On that last note, she sure is different, as a woman. She basically has insisted that I only bring myself and that's it to Russia, no gifts. I mean, I can understand if it's politely refuising the first, second or even third offer but she keeps saying she doesn't want anything from me but that I am safe when I arrive.
I have read over and over on here that that is the way the girls are over there, generally refusing offers of gifts, Inna just seems to be incredibly humble. She told me that even if I didn't have enough money to feed myself that she would feed me (I do have enough but for a whuile I thought I was going to have to wait a while to travel because of some impending bills). I odn't know, this type of kindness and humility is refreshing; she really cares, you know? What a friggin relief from the girls here, in my opinion that is.

I think you may have every chance of that

I think you will find the genuine ladies over there would rather you go and see them more so than what kind of gift you can take them. They are not all after what they can get, very refreshing indeed, and the other point may be that if you spent a lot of money on gifts and things and you two do not get on for whatever reason, she may feel guilty taking and expensive gift from you.

Personally I would take a few simple thsings that she cannot by in Russia and then if you two gel and get on maybe think about buying her something after a few days when you are there.

From what you have told us, she sounds like she has her heart in the right place and will look out for your interests, you can't beat that!

Good luck mate on your trip.
