Are such positions avail. in the Ukraine and Russia? Can anyone point me in the right direction; I'm striking out in my search. Thanks from a newbie trying to find his way around........

Sorry...Not my field. However, you might start by researching American/Western companies that have offices in Russia. I doubt there would be much in the way of local positions (with Russian/Ukrainian companies), as I believe this field is still very underfunded.

Thanks very much! I will do as you suggest; thus far, I'm only finding general tech jobs, Intel corp., etc. I'll keep trying, though...

There are a lot of Biotech positions in Russia, but in my view it doesn't worth to go for it - the salary for PhD and even for DrSci in general doesn't exceed $600 including grants, ets. But it maybe worth to look in CRDF, ISTC (http://www.istc.ru/ISTC/sc.nsf/html/jobs.htm), STCU - this would be management only.

There may be some in computer science for someone who has high ranking experience in American software companies. Again, salary will be a lot less than here-- that's why all the outsourcing is going to Russia and India and similar places.

Thanks very much! I am still looking, and to clarify, not as a permanent situation. Rather, since I am young, and can afford to do so, I am looking to be able to experience this before returning to the U.S. and "settling down" in a career. My field is genomics, gene manipulation/therapy research. Unfortunately, I am not finding many opportunities that fit such a background. Perhaps I should simply start considering an extended visit.
