Hi, everybody. I would like to introduce myself. I live in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and I have a deep interest in russian culture and people, even studying russian language. I really want to understand how russian people live and think today, and this forum seems a nice place to have a conversation.

Of course it includes meeting and knowing russian and FSU women...

Thank you so much for your welcome. I will "lurk" a little to feel the spirit of the forum, but I already can see it will be a rich experience.

Just reading the topics I realized what brings someone to look for a partner far from his own borders. Most of the men's complaints about women-next-door look the same, in any place: they are pointed as arrogant, materialistic and futile. I think it can be seen in two ways: first, we still have the inner hope, of finding a kind of "sleeping beauty" anywhere, just waiting for our kisses to wake up and fall in love with us... Girl-next-door is just too boring, fat and ugly to fit this fairy tale, so let's go to the highlands and search our promised princess...

A second view, more realistic, is simple: we are here because we just don't fit in the expectations from our female compatriots. And also they just don't have what we look for. With Internet and new media, now we are able to look for the "Miss Right" anywhere, or at least in the other end of a network...

Maybe the most important thing to look for in a woman is a good balance between beauty and inteligence. This is something I can't find here in Brazil. Unfortunately only 5% of brazilian people has some University degree. People's "cultural diet" usually comes from soap operas and sunday TV shows. There's a frantic search for fitness activities and breast implant surgeries. And even worse: the average brazilian woman is not a Giselle Bündchen. They got more and more fat (specially mid to lower-classes). Mid to upper-class women spend all their spare time in fitness centers and hairdressers. In this scene, maybe it's easy to feel physically attracted sometimes, but it's hard to have an useful conversation with someone.

Russian and FSU women look interesting because they look like to achieve this delicate balance. They are, in most, very beautiful, and have a very good education. And, for the extent of my knowledge, they have two characteristics absolutely absent in brazilian women today: they listen to the guys and they know what they want from life.

Well, that's why I am here. Maybe I should rewrite these words in the future, but that's what I feel today. I hope this forum will help me to understand this wonderful and culturally rich region of the world, and of course help me to find a good partner to learn more about ourselves, too.
