Wow! The California Service Center really seems to be moving quickly! I received my first NOA on September 30th, and I just checked for my online case status with the California Service Center and my Fiancee Visa application has been approved! It was approved Octobrer 28 (less than one month after receipt!) and I should receive notification by mail shortly!

I can't wait for this evening... I've got to share the good news with Olga! I guess the timing is perfect since I'll be in Kiev next week and I'll let Olga know what needs to be done to prepare for the next steps!

I'm happy for you both. I'll be in Ukraine in about 2 1/2 weeks I think. IF the Ukraine Embassy in DC ever sends my visa back. They recieved it 10/1That's good news Bob! 2 and it hasn't been expressed back yet.
They won't accept calls about visa's nor will they return E-mails.
I guess I'll try a fax next

Great News Bob!!!! You have already almost caught up to me. I was informed that Elena and Julie are not terrorist and will be allowed to enter the country. This only took two weeks after my approval. Are you still arriving in Kiev on the 5th? I still am. We have got to hook up and celebrate our approvals.

Keystone!

I'll be arriving in Kiev in the late afternoon on the 5th. I'll "ring you up" when I check into the Sherbourne Guest House and we'll check-out the scene in Kiev! I wonder how the mood has changed with the Ukrainian elections...

Great news Bob!!

That's a huge improvement from a year ago when they were taking anywhere from 150-200 days.

What are the odds she could be here before the holidays?

GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will be doing this too!

I was hoping to do it in Septenmber but things did not happen as I had planned.

At the end of January I will be submitting the application for the fiance visa :-)

I am glad to hear things are happening faster now!!!!

I am very anxious to be with now.

Please keep us informed of the amount of time your application is taking.

I hope the times are less than 4 months. I know at one time it was much longer but I am happy to hear that the process has become faster.

Oh God! The waiting!!!!! :-(

Glad to hear the progress Bob
Good luck to you !
Searcher , they are going fast now.
My fiancee finally received her visa 3 days ago
though probably early december she will arrive to california.
She wants to say here goodbyes to her family and friends before she comes here.
I understand this but of course I would like her here with me right now.

Good luck
Jerry

I going to be watching the processing times.
I want to know how long after the approval do they schedule an interview????

I know they usually issue the visa about 1-2 weeks after the interview.

I am trying to approximately determine the total time the process takes.

It seems it may be 4 months or less from what i'm reading now.

That is MUCH better than 6-9 months.

Searcher, I'll post on the forums the timeline. Right now there's a 2 - 4 week wait while the NVC (National Visa Center) runs a background check on Olga. After that is complete (usually about 2 weeks from what I've been hearing), the packet is forwarded to the consulate and an interview date will be set. I don't know what the wait time is on interviews, but once I do, I'll let you know!

So far I'd have to say that it's been 2.5 months (September 27 - November 20th or so) from I-129 submittal to background check completion with the CSC.

My friend just scanned and e-mailed me a letter from the National Visa Center (NVC)!! On November 4, they approved my petition and have sent the file to the Embassy in Kiev! I think Olga should receive her packet any day now!

Question: Olga doesn't finish her medical university until the end of June. If she interviews in December, is there any way to ask for an extension of just slightly over 6 months so she can finish at the university?

Man... I'm thrilled! Olga is too! (I'm in Kiev with her right now.) Man, this is going SOOOO fast!

Fantastic news Bob!
I copied this and hope it's what you need for an answer.
"

After the I-129F has been approved, the fiance(e) has 4 months from the time the I-129F was approved to obtain the K1 Visa at the US Consulate in the foreign country. This time period can be extended by a consular officer if required. The visa application process is generally similar in all countries, Although each Consulate will vary a bit in their requirements. Every K1 applicant will have a unique story to tell about how they got their visa.

WOW!

That is less than 2 months!!!!!!

So now her file is at the embassy, I assume they will schedule her interview. Assuming the interview is scheduled one month in advanced that would now be about 3 months!!!!!!!

If I remember correctly, the visa is usually received (by way of DHL) within 2 weeks after the interview.

Is that correct????

I sure hope it is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: rtking

Thanks everyone! And special thanks to AkMike... I'll make sure Olga asks the embassy if she can extend. That will help out greatly!

Searcher: I think the packet (requesting medical examination, police report, etc.) arrives to your fiancee via DHL about 2 weeks after the embassy has received your file. And the visa is received usually the same day (or next day) after a successful interview. I could be wrong, however, and remember incorrectly. Does anyone else remember?

I'm completely shocked that the total time has been less than 2 months! I was prepared for a 6 - 8 month wait!

I didn't find a direct answer to your question but this might help.

"Once you have the K1 Visa it is good for one entry into the United States within 6 months of the issue date. A K2 may enter up to one year after the K1, but a K2 may not enter the U.S. prior to the K1. "

I'm happy for you that things are going so good and so fast!

Great news Bob! I agree with AKmike. I would postpone your interview date. Two ways I know of.

You can actually slow this down yourself by having Olga not send her forms to the Kiev right away. I had Mila do this since she needed stay until June for school as well. But remember you have only 4 months from approval at the NVC. Or you can file an extension if you need to with the embassy.
