I spend a lot of time helping divorced men helping them begin their lives again after divorce.

Love the semantics of this. It's so taken for granted that the men get destroyed in divorce court that they will be 'killed' and therefore, have to begin their lives again. You hear this expression time and time again and it's not even questioned anymore. It's very rarely said when speaking about a woman.

Hello James,
I use 20:1 very generally. It is very hard to get very accurate data but, I base that figure on a cross section of various people who are all very experienced.

My official translator says it is almost impossible for a 30 year old woman to meet a suitable husband.

In the street it is normal to see women with men shorter and much older than themselves.

By the same token outside stores you will see people leave strollers or baby pushers with infant left outside the store completely unattended so, you will see many things in Omsk that vary a great deal from the west and even Moscow as a place of comparison.

I spent several months there recently and in the street, on the fixed route taxies, you allways see more women than men.

In public women dress very well and all the women I know seem to be a little jealous of any other woman who is in view of their man.

So, from some opinions it could be 100:1 but the overal stats from Russia and Omsk oblast really show a much lower ratio.

I did see some official Omsk figures but you have to interpret them for ladies 30 and above.

Once you go over 30, there is an increasing imbalance in the ratios which is why Russian women in general dont worry about reasonable age differences.

That being said, some ladies are very fussy about age and are looking specifically for a man about the same age or not much difference but they are a minority.

In the U.S., child abduction stats are skewed. The overwhelming majority of it results from parental fights over custody and a small percentage is outright stealing babies, particularly if you live near the border. It's surprising that many people have the impression of all these pedophiles running around stealing kids when it's very rare. It does happen, don't get me wrong..and when it does, it's all over the news, but it's still rare; thank God.

Those statistics are very surprising. I wonder if they would be even more stark if you broke it down to eligible and compatable men. In Southern California for example, where I live, it's very difficult to find a single woman over thirty who isn't more than 40 pounds overweight, has a college degree, doesn't have more than one child from different men, isn't a drug user or heavy drinker, doesn't have ugly tattoos or odd piecings, and who is reasonably mentally stable without emotional baggage. I wonder how many men over there in the over 30 crowd aren't alcoholics, womanizers, irresponsible, etc?

Don't think I'm ragging on women, ladies. Many men here in California over 30 couldn't past the tests above either. How many are deadbeat Dads, into drugs, etc. too? Very many. (although most sane people would naturally assume this and understand that I wasn't trying to rag on women in particular, I had to add this due to the oversensitivity of this modern society.)

It almost seems as if the few decent people out there tend to hole themselves up and isolate themselves because they get tired of all the 'crap' that's out there. So 20 to 1 may very well be 100 to 1 in reality. How sad.

I think some men take the age difference thing too far and make poor choices. I know many couples where the AM is 40 and the RW is in her early 20's. It's heading straght for disaster. I personally believe that people no matter what shouldn't even get married until they are 30. What am I going to talk to a 24 year old about? Brittney Spears? Survivor? The latest rap gangster song? Hardly.

James I agree with most of what you've said. It seems the older you become in the US the more difficult it is to find a suitable lady. I also noticed many of the above mentioned undesireable traits. I did find the maturity level in the FSU higher. I feel the difficult lifestyle tends to make them more focused on some of the same values I seek. So I feel that often it can be a good match as in AM and RW/UW.

You got that right, Sidney. There simply are no suitable American women to marry over age 30. They're either already taken or have a couple dozen guys going after them already and practically camping out on her porch because she's such a rarity.

Things are so bad here that even the obese ones get to take their pick.

If it weren't for foreign women most American men would simply give up and get a dog, a wet dry canister vacuum cleaner, and maid.

One cleans and cooks, one sleeps with you and is your friend, and the other you have sex with. (I won't tell you which is which)

I agree with you, its dam near impossible for a man in say 40's to meet a lady around 30 or under without running dangerous risks of repeated marriage failure.

Typically Nth American women of around 30 feel any man 15 years older is some kind of pervert while they will jump into bed with a young stud a year younger who has an anger management problem.

This is where Russian women especially Siberian women differ.
There is a bigger than 15 year age difference with my wife but thats another story.

I was there while there was still ice on the ground. I arrived on the first day of spring and it was still a bit cold.....

There were many nice people in Omsk....

I know in the west people would be arrested for leaving a child in a stroller but I was amazed to see this in Omsk, bear in mind that its 2,555 K East of Moscow you need to appreciate that culture does change a bit with the distance, I think some would say a great deal.

I have about 2 CD's full of photos of Omsk and I will put some of them up at the web site for my wife's friends.
