The police in Belograd have started an enforecement policy to fine anyone heard swearing in the streets of Belograd - fines have varied in size and those who do not pay the fine spend 2 weeks in jail .

The idea seems to be that if swearing can be reduced maybe people will behave better.......

Yes, I read about that in the Polish press about a week or two ago. Supposedly, the magistrate collected some 600,000 USD, or so, in fines. "They have some rich youths in Russia" was the comment in "Czas".

And by the way, Olsztyn in Poland also instituted such measures - 500 PLN fine.

What is Belograd?

You mean Belgrad in Serbia or Belgorod in Russia?

Posted by: Pawel_PL.USA

No matter how he spells it, I'm certain it's Belgorod - as I said, I read it in the press.
