Considering change in policy about posting photos in the forum...

Hi Everyone,

I want to rethink what is the best policy for the website regarding posting photos in the forum.

At the moment, we have the "Russian Photo Galleries," where most of our photos are posted. As I have mentioned before, the software in the photo galleries allows us to see the last 10 photos posted, 10 random photos, as well as other features that are beneficial for viewing photos.

I also understand that it would be nice to be able to post photos in posts. I believe that it is nice to be able to post a photo, for example, especially if it relates to what you are writing in your post.

So, perhaps the best policy would be to post photos in the photo galleries, except if it relates to your thread and would illustrate what you are writing in your thread?

I would love some feedback as to the best policy for posting photos in the forum and Russian Photo Galleries...

It would be great for posting maps of places of interest or travel directions in your travel section. Gino

hey khashyar,

if you're worried bout the server's capicity to host photos, then may i suggest using tags instead of attachments. you just turn on the img code in the signature for me, which i greatly appreciate btw, the little gif that i added in my sig is hosted on my website. unlike attachments, it doesn't get uploaded to the server that is hosting this forum. I believe with img code on ppl can do the same in the post by using [img] tag just like the other tags. I am not sure if the vB version allows this but the bB version does. You may want to look into the bB version, there is so much you can do with it, like scrolling and flipping texts in my avatar but in the posts.

have to test it out..

k doesn't work until you turn on img code for posts

Hi guys...

Yes, posting maps would be a great idea...

Hi Menehune... I turned on the IMG tags for signatures, but not for posts because I don't other webmasters being upset if someone posts a html photo link from their site that takes bandwidth away from them.

I actually have enough hard drive space and bandwidth on my server-- that isn't really why I am considering how to use photos in the forum. The main reason that I am thinking about this (and wanting feedback) is because we have a specific Russian photo galleries that are uniquely designed for photos, and I don't want to undermine the benefits of the Russian Photo Galleries.

But, perhaps it is good to let people use whichever area they enjoy the most for posting photos...

However, I think that the best basic policy now is for people to:

1) post photos in their threads in the forum that illustrate a point they are making in their written messages.

and 2) post photos that they want to share (without any message or written ideas) in the Russian Photo Galleries.

Thank you for your feedback.
