I found this today and thought it might lend to a different perspective of scammers.

"American MAN sentenced to 5 years in jail for "Russian Brides" scam. So you thought those "Russian brides" were canny and stealing money from nice western guys? NO, scammers are mostly MEN pretending to be Russian women seeking for love! And this scam was run FROM THE U.S.A.

In his guilty plea 40-year-old Robert McCoy from San Diego, California, admitted defrauding more than 250 men and agreed to pay back his victims whopping US$737,521. Investigators say there could be more victims that have not been identified. The scam utilized the infamous "visa and airfare" scheme: McCoy and his wife Anna were posing as Russian women seeking marriage and a non-existing Russian marriage agency that would provide women with visas and tickets."

His mistake was running this scam from the wrong country. If this were run from russia he would still be doing business.

I guess he really got caught. In FSU just a bride to set things right? Just another example of our freedoms in America or is it the lack of freedom?

His mistake was....... GREED . Had he been satisfied with just $100 here and a $100 there maybe this would never have been detected but US$737,521 is like acting like a jerk with bells on .
Most crminals loose the plot once they get greedy . And furthermore in Russia he would also have faced arrest - Putin has started to act against fraudsters like these two and so I would not say Russia is the evil empire when it comes to law enforcement.

I wonder how he is going to pay back the men he has defrauded if they are married men and wanted to have illicit affairs over the
internet- there are going to be some red faces and angry wives
