First of all, the Stariy Dublin pub is a must. This is an authentic Irish pub in the heart of Russia. I was amazed when I walked in the front entrance and had to stop my girlfriend to just look around the foyer because it was the real McCoy.

There were only two minor points that were not right. In front of the bar they had barstools for customers to sit on because all orders for drinks were taken by waitresses. In Ireland you would walk up to the bar to order your drinks and take them to the table. Some customers will stand or lean by the bar. But I suppose Russians expect to be served, especially the ones who can afford to go to a place like this.

The other small quibble was that I saw someone drinking blond beer out of a Guiness glass. Sacrilege! My girfriend ordered Stella Artois and it came in a Stella glass. I ordered a pint of Guiness and it came in a Guiness glass. That's the proper way to do things.

After our evening at the pub, my girlfriend and I walked up Khokhryakova and along Prospekt Lenina to the town square. We had our first kiss on the steps behind Lenin's statue.

Great food to. I had Irish stew and it was just right.
