Meeting Lena & K in Belarus this Sept.; arranging meetings btween Russian women & men

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: Khashyar

Hello Everyone,

While Lena and I are in Belarus during September, we would be happy to meet with anyone else who will be in Belarus during that time.

I believe that we could also arrange having a dinner at Lena's paraent's house which should be a very fun experience since Lena's parents are very sociable and friendly, and love meeting people.

Also, we could help match Russian women with Western men who will be in Belarus during that time. We will not charge anything for arranging the meetings, however if you would like, you can make a tax-deductible donation to the website to help support the discussion forum and the other information on the website.

If you are going to be in Belarus and would like us to set up a meeting with anyone from the Russian Meeting Place Personals, then just look through the personals and email us with who you would like to meet and we will contact them for you.

I will be in Belarus from September 3 until September 22, and Lena will be there from Sept. 3 until the 29th.

I believe that 2 people are definitely going to Belarus thus far (rking and Castlestormer).

We look forward to our trip, and with meeting several of the people who we have only known through forum discussions

Khashyar

(P.S., if you are really interested in traveling to Belarus during this time, you should purchase your tickets ASAP as they are becoming more expensive and much harder to find. At this point, you may need to purchase your tickets through a ticket consolidator that specializes in traveling to Russia/Belarus, OR fly into Warsaw (to which Americans do NOT need a visa), and then take the train into Belarus (which is to the East of Poland). In any event, if you would like to go, you will need to make your plans quickly.)

Make that 3 ....I'll be leaving later this month and I will still be there then. If anyone needs some 'logistics' setting up in Minsk prior to arrival I may be able to assist.

Hello Eryk,

It will be good to meet you in person in Belarus.

Let us know if you would like to meet anyone from the RMP personals there.

I am beginning to be excited about the trip (traveling to Belarus, having a vacation, going to Lena's family dacha , spending time with Lena's parents, being in a different culture, and all the other interesting aspects of being there...

Well not really, Natasha and I have an apartment on Beda Str. and I live there 35-50% of the time ...I am not 'available' in that sense ...happily 'attached' in fact

All I meant is that we will be 'in theatre' in advance of your 'landing party' so we might be able to help with up-to-date reports on 'enemy movements' [1]

Eryk

PS [1] ...Sorry, lots of 'D-Day' imagery flooding the news here today

I didn't realize that you were happily involved.. that is wonderful, and I send many thoughts and wishes of happiness both of your way...

And thank you for offering to help others who might need logistical help.

(Too bad that the Allied armies didn't arrive in Belarus before the it was flattened by World War 2).

Indeed. The War Museum in Minsk is an absolutely horrific reminder of the attrocities of war and the utter annihilation of an otherwise beautiful city by the Nazi regime.

As shocking as the museum was, it is absolutely worthwhile to walk through those halls and get a sense of the true horrors of war. I'll never forget the canteen on display that was badly dented and still held the ball joint of a fragmented femur from a Byelorussian soldier. Or the collection of macabre photographs from sadistic Nazi photographers of men, women and children hung to death on street lamps in a display of public execution.

The 'Allies' were not really involved then. A point that FSU people usually need to be reminded of is that WW2 started with the invasion of Poland undertaken *jointly* by forces of the Nazi/Soviet alliance as per. Molotov/Ribbentrop.

The Soviet people suffered immensely but it was still a war that their leaders conspired to start in the first place ...if the Soviet Union had sided with France and the UK from the start then Hitler would next have attacked Poland (or if he had he would have been crushed in short order).

Yes, Eryk... the Soviet leaders (especially Stalin) were responsible for many deaths of Russian people.

The Nazi's also committed many autrocities in Belarus, which are chronicled in the National War Museum in Minsk (which I would like to visit this September during my trip.)

I would actually also love to visit the concentration camps near Krakow Poland, which are fairly close to the Southwestern Belarusian border.

Perhaps we should create a new seperate thread to speak about World War II and its effect on Russia, and steer this thread back to our discussion about the September trip to Belarus

Hello Khashyar and Lena

Well I live in Canada near Toronto, and would really like to go, I just need a few more details, don't laugh but I have never left my country and a little freaked out...ha ha ha..but I can't miss the opportunity of meeting some of the beautiful ladies that live there.

Umm maybe I could get some tips and prices, I would only be ablr to stay a week but, I am 85% positive I will go.

As for the ladies that I would like to be introduced to, i'll have to take a further look.

And Yes!!! I will make a donation to your board....ummm Where do I do that???

Newbies.....

Todd,

Your best first step is to get prices to fly into Minsk. Flights are selling out. Well... really flights to Germany (or another connecting city) are selling out. The flight from those cities into Minsk are fairly available.

Prices in Minsk are actually very reasonable. Accomodations are a little pricey, but it's possible to rent an apartment for $50 - 60 a day. Food and transportation are very reasonable and I would think (for your 1 week of travel) you wouldn't spend much more than $300 - $400 US Dollars (not including accommodations, but that includes quite a few knick-knack/souvenirs.) ATMs are readilly available around the city as well.

As for donations... if you scroll down to the very bottom of the main forum page, you'll see a blue rectangle to click. That will take you to the donations page.

Hope that helps! And it'll be great to meet you in Minsk/Mogilev!

>>Prices in Minsk are actually very >>reasonable. Accomodations are a >>little pricey, but it's possible to rent >>an apartment for $50 - 60 a day.

It is also possible to rent a very nice place for $300 a month! ...Half that if you are not too fussy about a microwave and modern washing machine etc. We pay $200 a month for a 2 room apartment on Beda Str. (2km North of Kamarovka). Obviously for a very short rental like 1 week there will be a premium, but $50 a day is certainly a figure that is open to ...negotiation. You can even get a room at Hotel Belarus for $44 a night ...not that I'm recommending it unless you plan on hanging out at 'Westworld' all the time

>>Food and transportation are very >>reasonable

Metro an minibuses are cheap, buses and trolley-buses are de facto 'free' 98% of the time.

>>than $300 - $400 US Dollars (not >>including accommodations, but that >>includes quite a few >>knick-knack/souvenirs.)

Agreed.

>>ATMs are readilly available around >>the city as well.

Prone to unreliability however (in my experience). Belarus is a cash economy. Take Euros or Dollars and leave plastic and cheques at home (again, just my opinion).
