Does anyone know how to send SMS/Text messages from Russia????

I have seen other threads pertaining to Ukraine but nothing about Russia.

My lady can receive my messages but can't send messages to me. She can send messages to her friends in Omsk so she does have the service.

When I send her messages I have you use the international code + country code + number, e.g.- 011 + 7 (Russia) + (902) 123-4567

From what i've read on the internet she shound dial or use the following:

8~10 +1 (323) 123-4567

but that does not work. Is there a different code that she should dial????

Searcher,

I had the same problem of months and months of one way SMS. Elena's english is limited and when we speak on the phone it is pretty much the same words every week. So it was very difficult to try and explain to her that see must dail the plus sign followed buy a one and then your area code/phone number. I am unsure if this is the proper way because she never had success in sending me SMS. Anyway one day at 4:30 am I got a message from Elena. It said "Good evening mi Love. Elena." This was just last week and I have been getting messages every day except yesterday. I will ask her today what she dails. If I am lucky she might be able to explain it to me.

Hi

If she gets your message, why don't she does 'reply'.

To my knowledge the 810 is for regular phones.

NB. Our record is 1500 sms in a month.

For some reason she is having trouble trying to send an SMS.

I found out that my mobile phone service provider happens to be the same one she has in Russia.

T-Mobile in the U.S. is GSM in Russia.

More specifically she uses Omsk-GSM, I believe this is the same... correct me if i'm wrong!

I also learned from that all she SHOULD have to do is use:

+1 323 317 xxxx

I had also suggested that she try:

+8 10 1 323 317 xxxx
8 10 1 323 317 xxxx

but so far nothing!

I wonder if she is using the "+" or not, that would make a difference!

Anyone else know????

From what I understand the networks are no longer an issue.

I am not sure searcher. I think elena figured out how to reply. Can she just reply to your message. Again I say it almost took two months to get first sms from ukraine. Just tell her to keep trying.

I did mention to her that she should try to reply but she says that isn't working either.

I'm sure there is a means for her to send a SMS but we haven't yet discovered it.

Of course, all suggestions are welcome.

Hi

I just remember that some phones do not like to cross languages. So if she has her phone at Russian, it could be a problem.
I know it should not, but I have tried it myself and my friend who develop GSM phones say it happens.

At least it worth a try.

I just remember some more. In Europe and also Russia there is some subcription there is good domestically.
Maybe she need to go to shop and ask what kind of servuice she has and actually let them help her to send a sms to USA.

Personally I like this sms so much. And I only pay 3 cent for one. So I use about 1 dollar a day and get almost instantly reply.

Good idea Brian,

I will suggest she ask her service about sending international SMS.

I do remember she did ask one person there and they said it was a network problem, that the networks are different in the U.S and Russia.

I don't always believe evrything I her for many reasons. One, I was told by the hotel staff that i couldn't access the internet from my room. I know better as I work with this stuff and I successfully used my laptop from my room.

Secondly, she has GSM for her service and they are the same company as T-Mobile in the U.S. I have T-Mobile for my service.

It may be that their service or her plan does not allow outgoing international SMS.

She can receive my SMS but she can't reply or send one to me.

I tried sending an SMS to Andrei but he doesn't receive my SMS.

So, it may simply be what their service offers as for technology compatability, it is mostly the same now and that should be a minor issue.

If the networks weren't compatable, she should not be receiving my SMS.

So, we'll see.......

Sometimes when I sms FSU I have to add the "+" sign before any numbers and without the international code. If I use a land line I dial. 011380XXXXXXXX. On mobile I send sms by using +380XXXXXXXX. Try and see if this helps.
