Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to share with everyone that Lena parents FINALLY received their computer in Mogilev, Belarus, and so they can finally begin writing regular emails back and forth to Lena.

The computer cost about $760, including a scanner and printer. (Lena has a friend who's good friend works in computer sales there).

Because of the slowness of doing business in Belarus, it took a LONG time for the computer to be purchased and then set-up, and then some additional time for internet service to be established.

But, now we can set-up our Mogilev office, with one of Lena's best friends running the office, helping with the personals and other tasks of the Russian Meeting Place.

Lena's parents' computer will be even faster than the one that I am using (it is a reasonably fast computer)...

There is software that was installed into thei compute that allows them to write messages offline, and then with the clikc of a button it will sign on, send the email(s), and then sign off again. This feature will save them money.

Before we purchased this computer for them, they had to schedule an appointment with the computer center at the Mogilev Post Office, and then take a 20 minute bus in each direction to travel to the Post Office.

Even if they reached the Post Office, there were times when Lena's Mom would write an email, only to experience some kind of computer problem that would erase her email, afterwhich she would have to write a quick 5 or 10 minute message to send.

They are pretty excited, and now the convenience of the 21st Century has arrived at Lena's parent's home

Hey,that is great that they have there own computer now,I am sure they will be contacting Lena alot more now.

Computers can come in handy for keeping close with family that live a distance away.

Hope they enjoy their new toy.

Thanks, Randy...

Lena's parents are excited... I don't think that they could have afforded a computer without Lena and my help, since the average salary in Belarus is $100 per month...

We are going to try to set up an webcam and to show them how to chat via Yahoo Messenger as soon as we can
