The phrase "Russian romance/ marriage tour" as it applies to Russian women

Hi Everyone,

I was wondering how everyone felt about the term "Romance" or "Marriage Tour"?

Does the term accurately reflect what this type of tour is meant to accomplish?

On a "Russian marriage/ romance tour," the intentions of both parties ARE to get to know someone potentially for marriage, but... would it be better to name it a "Singles" or "cultural singles tour"?

I feel that it is best to avoid a "meat market" connotation, and to avoid seeing meeting a woman as achieving some goal, or (even more extreme) approaching meeting women as evaluating a product.

I felt a little bit uncomfortable with the term "Marriage/ Romance Tour," and I wanted to bring this up for discussion.

What do you all think?

hi khashyar,

yes, the connotation of "romance/marriage" tour is a negative one. cultural sounds better. "singles" sounds just as bad as marriage/romance.

i'll chew this one over and if i get an idea, i will post it

i think you and lena have fantastic potential in this industry. i have a feeling that this may become a full time job for both of you in the future.

I got to agree with PB on this one. "Tour", when associated with Russian women, always comes up with a negative image to me.

Perhaps it is because I think of socials when I see the word tour used. The concept of marriage is of a person settling down and establishing roots. "Tour" makes me think of traveling and mobility, cruising for women, and the dreaded bar scene (again, the tie in to socials).

"Excursion", "Journey", or even "Trip" all have a better connotation to them, IMHO.

Honestly when i hear about a "tour" the first thing that comes into my mind is one of those seedy sex tours to south-east Asia where fat, old men go to have sex with girls 1/3rd their age.

khashyar,

from the other thread, sounds like you're getting a lot of interest on the trip.

how 'bout the word "excursion"? my fiancee uses that word often to describe a trip. not sure if that is the word in russian or she just knows the english word.

Dude!

What are you talking about! The word Tour doesn't have a sexual connotation at all! I believe that Tour is appropriate. Traveling you will find that you Tours are offered constantly around towns, inside churches, and so on!!!

When my friends come to San Antonio, I love to give them a tour around Fiesta town. And when they come to my home I give them a little tour around my house!!!

That is something similar as what K & L are offering here!

It actually has more value than the typical romance tour (according to what I have read as I have never been to one). On those tours, the primary focus is to meet girls and get confined to a hotel room for most part.

Here, we would have a peek to the Russian Culture in a more broad way. What they eat.... and drink (Important as I love vodka) where they live, how they think, and what are they proud of.

Now if in the process we happen to meet with the girl of our dreams! Well, what else can we ask?

Peace!

I would think using the phrase

"Western - Eastern Introduction service" or something like that would be fairly neutral.

I would never have an interest to a man if I know that he participate in such tours... On this socials come only special kind of girls... These tours of desperate men have very bad reputation now.

Hello Panel,

I have to agree with Clarita,

I used a Russian Lady to translate my letters once and i was told the men who go on tours are dreadful, they even open the ladies mouth to see if she has her own teeth.

What about if they are kind and very honest and will make a good wife.

Regards,

Neil
