Search results on RMP??

Just something I was wondering -and I hope nobody takes offence at this -
Should the posts in other languages appear in the "Today's posts" or "New Post" searches?

The other day I noticed that of the top 25 "New posts", 17 were in Danish.

I don't mean this as a put down or anything, and it's great that the Danish forum is so active, but I don't think it does much for any of us non-Danes, as I can't read the language or post there.

I wonder if it would be better to have each language have it's own separate search results list, as is already done with the separare English and Russian sides.

Or perhaps the Danish/Spanish/French/German sites could include the English posts as most of them can read english {I think} while very few of us can understand them.

The reason I post this is that by including perhaps 20 non-english results in the top 35 or 40, it bumps other english threads off faster, so less people have a chance to notice them. Just IMO

I found the same too, I voted Each language should have a separate result however, I doubt it will be easy to facilitate

I think all should be on. Just because this is a international web site, and some people do speak more than one language and may miss out on helping some one.

just my

If we can - any of us from Danmark will help as much as we can, but I'm afraid we wont see the post's unless they are under "today's post" with all language's.

Anyway - post in Danish part if you like, anyone there understands English. We just had a really nice time there lately and thats why we where so active. There are some great guys there - and I had a lot of help from them + interesting views on life.

i think its better left as it is

Well. i actually think it time for RMP to do reconsider some of it setup. History show, that several languages has never been used or at most 5-10 post over several years. I know they don't harm anybody.

But also in the english speaking forums, a lot of them are very rare postet in. Could be better to join them, so they look more active.

Hey guys, I just voted that I really didn't know and that is really the truth. I am new enough to be blissfully ignorant for at least a few more days. I do truly feel that this is a global community and that we are all brothers and sisters in the game of life. Because of this, I would tend to drift towards the keeping of the system intact, but give me those few days and I might rethink my theory.

Thanks for your post Jutman, I'm glad to see some Danish flags in the thread! Again, I hope none of the Danes take offence at my question.

The point that I was making, {I think Chris also understood it this way}, is that usually only the last 30 - 40 posts will be on the list "today's posts", and if any other threads are older than this the will "drop off" and disappear into oblivion - most times I don't search to find old threads - I don't think many others do this very often either.

If there was a separate search for English & Danish {and French, German etc} would you still come over to check out the English forum? {just as some Russians women post on the Russian forum and come to visit the English one}

Another solution might be to have the last 100 - 150 posts appear on the list, not just 30 -40. I think this would be better, as it would give more people a chance to find an interesting thread and post. Another forum that I post on has the last 250 appear on the search. Is it possible to have the last 150 appear on the "search"? Or will the system not handle it?

Of course noone takes offence because of this question, it was a fair and reasonable thing to ask.
Its great to see that someone cares, and try to make the forum a better - and maybe more active place.
I guess action have been taken already - and if there will be 150 posts in "today's post" well thats fine, it will be easier to see throu then !

Just an idea here. Since we are discussing reformatting the "design" of the forum, what if we were able to put 3 seperate columns on the "Today's Posts" page? One could be English, another Danish, and then another, I don't know, maybe German or Russian. We could even make it where the user could select the 3 languages he/she prefers.

I know it seems strange, but as my IT folks tell me when I ask them to build a database..."anything is possible". Well, until I ask them to do something.

Figure I am starting with about $1000, this leave me with $999.98 after submitting my 2 cents worth!

Yes that might be an idea, I think if we could have more than just the last 30 -35 posts it would help alot to keep threads active
