Aerosvit has 5kg limit for carryon

Just a heads-up. I enthusiastically packed my carry-on with almost everything I would need for my trip to Ukraine. Then I checked Aerosvit website and found that carry-on has 5kg weight limit. I weighed my bag--20 pounds. I emailed Aerosvit and questioned 5kg for transatlantic flights? Aerosvit emailed back: 5kg for all flights, even transatlantic.

Something to keep in mind when choosing airlines and when choosing between carry-on and checked luggage.

You are allowed a second carry-on if it's a camera or a laptop - I wonder if thats included in the 5kg.

However I flew AeroSvit last month, I have never had my carry-on weighed or sized on any airline.

On the domestic flights you can even bring bottles on board, the Russian guy next to me was swigging on a vodka bottle.

Good idea to bring water or soda, you might not get any on a short flight

I've flow on Aerosvit many times, been over 10kg at times as a carry on, but never had a problem. But it could all depend on where you are leaving from?

Aerosvit's website doesn't make a distinction for economy class travelers with regard to weight (business class can take 10kg carry-on for transatlantic flights). When I emailed them I gave them my flight numbers for JFK to KBP to SIP. They said "The limit for transatlantic flights is the same as domestic flights 5 kg." I am tempted to try to hedge a bit based on your experience, but if anyone is going to get weighed and have to check his carry-on (and have it lost) it would be me. I took 13 days off work, I arrive on Friday the 13th, and my girl's favorite flower is a yellow rose.
