One of the more amusing points of being in Kharkiv, was this advertisement at the train station.....this is for this hotel called "Armageddon".

Kind of a strange name for a hotel....just wondering if anyone else saw the ad, or if any of you stayed there....

No, are you in Kharkov now?

How do you like the city by the way?

Freebird, all I did was go from the airport to the train station and back, with a few stops, when I was there a few weeks ago.

The subway system was cool. Liked the stained glass in the railway station, as well as the "Samovar" cafe. But about the only good things I can say about the city.

I was given misinformation by various people.....the people in the city were generally less friendly than anywhere else I've been.....got picked up by cops
---not once but twice, solely for the fact that I am foreign, and they wanted someone to harrass........plus I lost my camera............

Can't say I have a favorable impression of Kharkov......my experiences in London wasn't that great either----but at least that city has some redeeming value to it. I can't think of any reason I'd want to return to Kharkov. The only reason I went because the airport was closer to Sumy than the others.

On my next trip to Sumy, I'm going to fly into Kiev instead.

Kharkov ranks up there on my "bad list" along with El Paso and Minneapolis.

I think I mentioned in this forum that Harkov police was the worst in Ukraine in terms of harrassment and corruption. Sorry to hear that it has not changed…
