a great article

To my reading this article shoots itself in the foot.

One minute they are saying Moscow should lift the Visa requirements so that Europeans etc can visit Russia freely (this is based on the Football and its positive effect on the Moscow economy). I would think this is correct.

The next minute they are saying this, "If the European Union dropped its visa requirements for Russians, it would be cause for celebration in Russia. But if Moscow dropped its visa requirements for EU citizens, most Europeans, quite frankly, would not care." Now if Europeans wouldn't care then they wouldn't be rushing to visit Russia just because of the Visa restrictions being lifted would they so it is a futile discussion.

OMG! Look at who is still here. How are you Jutman/Jyden? I miss you brother. And now you are a moderator. Congratulations! (I think)

Please tell your lovely wife I said hello. We need to meet again in Red Square, or maybe I'll find myself in Denmark some day.

All my best!

The insistence of Russia still requiring visas has indirectly helped Ukraine....
Many people don't want to go hassle with the bureaucracy in getting a visa.
Granted, there is more in Russia as it is a bigger country, but people are discovering Ukraine.......and are quite surprised that no visa is required.

Moldova and Georgia are also wise to this, and have reaped some benefits of more tourism, due to not requiring visas.

to be honest, i have no interest to correspond with anyone from russia because of the visa requirement. just another hassle in the whole making the trip ordeal that ukraine doesn't lay on you.

Seriously. Even Belarus is less hassle to visit than Russia.

I can fly into Romania without a Visa and stay for 3 months.
