I read somewhere that when writing your first letter to a FSU woman, one should not refer to her as "beautiful".
Are they offended if called pretty or attractive?I want to write a few women that showed interest in me at Elenas and am thinking of a compliment I can give to one in particular.Something like mentioning her gorgeous smile.Would this bother her?

I used to just say 'very attractive' it always went down well. Some will think if you say beautiful in the first letter you may only be after one thing, but all women like complments so just don't go over the top early doors.

I freely admit limited experience with RWs, but mentioning her beautiful smile or eyes was always well received, especially if it's sincere.

Tone it down initially with mentioning appearance, beauty etc. Once you guys meet, and you hit it off - then go for it. My wife loves the compliments
However, a compliment such as smile I think is positive.

Both of you are learning about each other in the initial correspondence , more important to learn about the motives and wants (of each other here) - as Chris mentioned, the wrong signal could be sent.

IMHO, they are just like any other woman you have ever known which means they also in general love the compliments. However, in your first few letters it might be wise to stay away from the "beautiful", "gorgeous" type descriptions as they may think you a bit flakey and only interested in outward appearance. Commenting on the nice profile, nice smile or stylish appearance early on is probably safer if you wish to continue communication. Usually, once you have become somewhat more familiar with her and she with you such descriptive comments seem to be much more welcome. In short, don't dwell on the beauty and seek the person.

Spot on clark. Everyone likes a compliment but most people want one that's genuine. If you feel a compliment is in order in the first few emails, try to compliment something about her that will show your interested in her as a complete person not her just as an object of attraction.

I used to pick something from the profile, say their education or hobbies and make comment about that to show that my interest was in more than just her "beauty". An example would be if they were a teacher, somehow I got drawn to them even before I knew they were teachers from their profiles, I think teachers must have a certain look about them, anyway I digress, I would say something like "it takes a special person to be a teacher and impart knowledge to children", that's just a general thing in truth no comment would be used on more than one person so the example above is fairly sucky because it is just an example.
