Mrs I/O has been baking the "Easter" treats all day long.

My wife starts baking and cooking tomorrow all day, she tells me they don't cook anything on Sunday at all, it has to be done the day before.

So how do your women cope celebrating Easter in the West. Often we don't have the same 'intensity' of celebration and that can catch a lady by surprise ?

Khristos voskres!

Well, we went the local Russian store and bought a kulich yesterday. Despite its exorbitant price ($10 and it is TINY), it was stale So I will be baking a new one today--hopefully better than the one that we bought Other than that we decided on Georgian for the menu. My husband found a great site of Georgian recipes and he made some DELICIOUS lobio last night. I'm going to attempt khatchupuri in a few minute if I can dig myself out from under the bowls of the kulich-in-progress. Aren't holidays supposed to be a time for rest?

I worked the early shift this morning, and got off at 11:15am Kind of late to go out to church, and I probably wouldn't have been coherant if I was there anywhere.(Not to mention falling asleep on the bus, or worse, behind the wheel).

Took a bit of a "power nap", then did some cleaning and correspondence. Tried to call some relatives in San Francisco, but they were not home. I think I'll try the ones in Michigan, too.

At least, at work today, I did give my Easter wishes to the Ukrainians on the flights.......had a couple of Kiev natives going to Toronto, and this one babushka who was going to Kiev, and then taking the train all the way to Uzhgorod. Her son, who brought her over, was surprised that I knew where that was......

This is not to mention the ET's that I wished "Melkam Fasikas" to, who were surprised that I new the Eastern greeting in Amharic! (Notice the similarity of "paska" and "fasikas").

Starting to get hungry right about now. Had been---for the most part---
fasting with no meat........my Easter lunch was a Burger King breakfast croissant....keep in mind that I started around 430am.........

Right now, I am going out to get something for my "real" Easter lunch.
Looks like maybe Mexican, strangely enough. No FSU or Greek food within a walk or short drive, and the ET place is closed for the holiday.....so nothing with red eggs around here.....
