DAMN! Now what do I do?

Ok, I actually can figure it out myself so you don't REALLY have to answer that one.

I've been bouncing a couple things off Bob and I thought I it was time to share this with the brethren (and sisteren too).

You see, several months ago I walked in to my local handy dandy Wally world and as I was passing the rows and rows (of unattended) cash registers I spied the most beautifull woman I have EVER seen in my life. From my time in Germany and other brief stints in Europe I recognized right away that this was no American woman. Nice hair, nice make up and better clothes than American chickies wear to work at Walmart (no offence to you if you are one of them) I grabbed whatever it was I went to get and choose her line to pay up. My suspicions were confirmed when I saw her name tag "Irina" and then she said something, I forget what now, I just know she sounded REALLY nice! Well I melted on the spot and don't remember much after that, but I never forgot about that beauty in WalMart.

As a school bus driver I would occaisionally see her on a corner waiting for the city bus and I would melt all over again. God I wished I could have opened the door and given her a ride (without getting fired), but it was not allowed. Hey she had to be married, right? Even then I knew that a RW pretty much could not come here without a hubby.

Well a couple weeks ago I went into my handy dandy Wally world to get "something" and there she was. Still beautiful, still sexy, and still there! So I grabbed whatever it was I came for and (you guessed it) headed for Irina's line. But this time was very different. It was my turn, I stepped up with my debit card out and as I was starting to swipe I kinda said (mumbled, fumbled, almost dropped the damned card) "Dobrey Dyen". When I looked up at her I thought I was gonna need my shades. She was beaming! She responded in kind and we completed my transaction, around the expected conversation about "how do you know Russian?" and this time I noticed NO RINGS! I said Do svadonya, and she responded in kind with another beautiful smile and of course, like the romanticly inept moron that I am I simply floated out the door with that very euphoric "DAMN! that was NICE! feeling. Then I realized, "YOU IDIOT!" I didn't say anything to her about supper or anything.

The following Monday I started my first Russian lesson and THANK GOD! Natasha knew Irina and again THANK GOD! she is single. Ok stupid concentrate on the lesson your paying good money for this, ok, lesson over now tell me more about Irina, Natasha. OH, I forgot to mention I kept going back to Wally's but she wasn't there, CRAP! Well I made a beeline there after class and found a good friend of mine who works there and YES she gave me Irina's schedule, and she would be there the next day (last Tuesday). I showed up on Tuesday (hey, I needed some socks) and checked out at her line and while I was waitng (very impatiently I might add) for my turn, she looked at me and gave me a VERY nice smile and the "finger wiggle wave". Big SIGH, I think this is gonna work, just don't fall down or do something really stupid, Tim like, oh I don't know throw up on your change or something. Finally the dunce in front of me was done talking about his wonder dog Rover the White German Sheppard and it was my turn in front of the most beautiful woman in the world. Looked right at her this time, "Dobrey Dyen", same smile same warm response, "say,would you please have oozhyen(sp?) (supper) with me?" I don't think the words were all out of my mouth before she was saying "yes, yes!" I had practiced saying 17 in Russian all morning and she said again "yes", "five o'clock?" Great! Gave her my card and asked her to call my cell at five to tell me where to pick her up and again floated out the door.

Supper Tuesday night, Ruby Tuesday's and a stroll around the Mall. Never had so much fun watching a lady look at clothes. I didn't call on Wednesday, but saw her out walking while I was in my bus, (three different sightings) big smiles all around with another Dobey Dyen out the window and I went home wishing I had the guts to call. Turned out she wished I had too. Thursday, went to my favorite florist after the morning bus runs and had them dress up a single red one for me and inserted the card with her name (in Russian mind you) and off to Wally's I fly. Oh, she turned beet red and pretty much melted herself this time and she could not stop grabbing my hands and touching my chest/shoulders and saying "thank you Teem" (Gawd, I like the way she says my name!). "Tonight?" I ask, "YES!" Set it up for 6:30 and off I floated again. Well we had a great time over supper and the staff at my favorite Chinese resterant would not disturb us even when I WANTED OUT OF THERE. Maybe it was because this time I sat beside her in the booth and we were doing a little huggie, peckie-kissie. I drove to a very romantic spot where you could see the whole town lit up and we um "talked" for a couple of hours before she REALLY had to go home but she just had to start writing my name (in Russian) in the fog on the glass before we left (Aah that's soo cute). We um, did ALOT of "talking".

We've seen each other almost every day now and well, I don't think I wanna go to Ukraine anymore. Who woulda thought I'd find a beautiful RUSSIAN woman IN WALMART? I guess it's true, they really DO have everything under the sun there.

Tomorrow (Monday) we are doing some errands in the morning, I have class and she needs to see her doc, and then we're spending the whole day together. I think I'll take her to the coast after she introduces me to a Russian GF of hers on the way there. Oh, BTW, the picnic last night? heaven! So was the um, "talking" later.

Oh yeh, she's about 5 foot nuthin and oh, I dunno mebe 90 lbs, purty brown eye (the other one's grey/gray?).

And Mike? When you said "just wait till you're looking into her eyes and holding her hands AND she's talking to you"? Well, yep, yer right pardner. It's really something.

Ok, that's all I got fer now kids. I now return you to your regularly scheduled um, "talking".

Thanks guys/blokes.

She came the usual way. Met a guy online. He went over to visit. They did the whole k1 routine and got married then she abandoned her career as a child psycologist and left her mum and niece/dochka behind. Then three years later after refusing to help her with ESL lessons or a driver's license he decided he'd rather be alone. Oh yeh, he decided he didn't really need to learn Russky either and now he sits around all evening downing a six-pack or more. Another three years have passed and the divorce is to be finaled May 5th and we're looking at some places in town till school is out and then we're heading somewhere other than Maine. Too many painful memories for her here.

She'ld stay with me but I live in a very rural setting and she doesn't want to be stuck with no bus and having to depend on me for a ride to work. Don't blame her either, she's been kinda trapped in a less than ideal arrangement for too long already. But she really does need somebody she can count on to be there for her.

I'm still trying to hammer out (bad choice of words perhaps) a financial agreement with my disintended and then I'll be free too.


Oh, and just an aside in reference to some posts on RP's thread. She's very consenting, which is why I (and she) am/is very comfortable when I stop by at her work and lean across the counter for a kissie (or two) before I leave. But I had to earn some points with her first.

She's gonna need some time for healing, but we are going to stay together lick each other's wounds and enjoy a very close and loving friendship while we're building for the future.

And when the time comes the invites will be strewn around the globe.

She keeps telling me I should go! I told her NO WAY! She can't understand why I would drop someone as gorgeous as Helen for her. She's seen a pic. Tim, a year last February a similar thing happened to me, I had arranged, booked and paid for a trip to Russia to meet someone, then out of the blue a RW contacted me who actually lived 250 miles away from me. We got on great, fantastic in fact but I told her I was booked to go to Russia and the reason why, she advised me to go also, I did do and it didn't work out, so on my return I took up again with the RW here, we had a great 4 or 5 months together, but long term, marriage etc was not to be.

You just never know where you will find your life partner, thousands of miles away or on your doorstep, but when you do find THE one, you will know it, that I can promise you.

Good luck with Irina, I have my own Irena and she is wonderful too

What money Dag? I sent a few gifts through russianservice and I have the membership at fiance.com, but nothing else. If you're thinking about plane tix, I haven't bought em yet. I was waiting til we closed the sale on the house to do that (May 15th).

I gotta remember my camera tomorrow. We're going on a day trip to Bar Harbor (a much lesser version of the Crimea, but same idea) for a picnic and more um, "talking". We're supposed to stop by a russian friend of hers on the way and I'll try to have the presence of mind to ask her to take a couple shots OF us. If I mess up my limited Russian maybe it'll AT us. And I'll snap away at her all day while we're at the rock bound shores of Maine. Stay tuned girlie fans! And she's very much a girlie girl too (and I love it).

Supposed to be a cracker of a day too. DAMN IT! I was hoping for rain so we could stay in. After all, we have LOTS of "talking" to do.

And yes, I'm ONLY concentrating on Irina now.

Thanks Chris. I followed your wedding account with great interest. Thought I might have a Ukrainian wedding of my own if Helen was the One. And if I went I have no doubt that she wouldn't let me out of her sight after a couple of days.

What ever happens I hope I can post pics as nice as you did and have a nice story to tell everyone. A long way to go yet before that happens though and I'm gonna enjoy every step of the journey.

Oh, btw, Irina's 44 which is another plus. I just really feel more comfortable with someone a little closer to my age (50). She started settling in a little more when I told her that too. Having a young beautiful wife isn't the most important thing, having the RIGHT beautiful wife is.

She's GOT the GC. And I STILL have no problem moving to Russia with her and she would LIKE to go home too.

And I like cheese. It's good for ya, makes ya big and strong like bull! I haven't told the whole story and I don't intend to. She already has a great job lined up through a Russian friend in Conn. and could make it on her own just fine when she gets there. If she's feeding me a bunch of Bull then I'll find out soon enough before I blow too much hard earned on her.

How is this so different from any other hook up? Don't we all pretty much just get HER version til we get to know her (and family and friends) a little better?

I do appreciate that you're trying to help.

Yoshkar Ola is about 600 or 800 kms south of Moscow near Cheboksary iirc. It was nicknames scammer capital at one stage. Used to be a closed town, not even allowed to be printed on the maps cause of its military importance.

Enjoy the ride...take it slow and steady...and get to know each other really well. Maybe she is the one? Only time will tell. I do think you should cancel the trip to Ukraine, for now.

I would contact your friend in the Ukraine and explain the scenario without any details. Be honest with her, tell her that due to some strange fate, that even though you weren't looking you met a woman in your home town. And you want to explore that possibility. ~~ phrase it better then I have. And she will be upset, but better to end it quickly, so you are not stringing her along.

Yoshkar-Ola it is east of Moscow about 2 hour flight not quite to the Ural mountains. Yoshkar-Ola is the Capital of the Mari-El 'province' (or whatever they call them 'Oblasts' I think?) it is close to Kazan, and Nizhniy Novgorod, Russia

Mostly East! My tutor Natasha whipped out her big map and showed me today after my lesson. She's actually going there with her doch this Summer and offered to convey a message for Irina.

Had great day visiting with one of Irina's good friends, Lena, and tried my first Russian food. It was the Russky version of perlogies(?), meat wrapped in dough and fried, and another one I can't quite get my mouth to say, cherries wrapped in dough and boiled. Very tasty! I ate till it was coming out my ears.

Before we ate though Lena hussled us off into the willy-wags to hook up with a new bride, Natsha(?), form Ukraine, and the two of them just kinda hung outside or in the kitchen and left Irina and I alone on the couch. I just hate being ignored like that, don't you? A nice cup of coffee and then back into the car and I got my second Russian cabbie style ride of the day back to civilization and Lena started right in with the food. Irina & I sat in the back seat both ways.

Then out came the photos! I must have looked at family pics of Lena's for 30 minutes or more before she dragged me into the living room to look over her shoulder while she showed me more pics on her laptop and then a ton of Russian humor pics that someone emailed her and she translated all 250 for me and we laughed till the tears ran. Lena's a real spitefire too and I darned well better shoot straight with her or she'll gun me down in a heartbeat. Lena seems to be the local den mother for all the new FSU ladies who come to town and there are a bunch too. She's got her act together! Her hubby, Allan's a butcher and a big teddy bear and I enjoyed his company for a little while before Irina and I really had to go.

And Irina was really playing the mother hen today too. Hated for it to end. Sigh! I think I'm gonna go smell my shirt some more cause its got her perfume all over it.

I didn't notice this thread had gone into page three and just saw these last posts when I put my fun day post up.

The trip is canceled. A no brainer for me there. Especially when Irina looked at me today and said "we have a long time Teem" and "I'm giving you my extra bathrobe to keep at your house, just in case I need it".

I'm trying to come up with a letter to say it right. It's tough to pull the plug on Helen even though I know I have to. I have every reason to believe that I wouldn't come back if I went to meet her. There's a beautiful soul in Sumy that I want to be gentle with too. MAN! When these ladies start warming up to you they really make you feel good about writing to them and looking forward to meeting them even more.

Well, I'm a writer by hobby and I can't think of a damn thing to make it painless for these two. They're both gonna be stunned. I already got a tearful reply from one nice lady who only started writing to me two weeks ago and she's a real sweetie too.

Gonna try to get some sleep now,

That's not something I want to get used to GTR. Helen and Sveta (Sumy) were very special and both were talking definite future with me. I managed to say goodbye to the three or four others that I wasn't AS attatched to, but I can't bring myself to click the send button on Helen and Sveta. But I can't keep them hanging either. S**T!!

It is a difficult email to send....but if you can I would actually call them. However I would write out what I wanted to say first.

Be honest!!! Just tell them, although you weren't looking to meet some one in your home town, you just happened to meet someone. Things are progressing well, and you need to explore that option and it isn't fair to the Helen Or Sveta to string them along. They will be OK since they are adults and they know these things happen. Wish them luck in their future search for a man. Be direct, tell them it is difficult, you really care about them, and if you can do anything for them in the future, you would be happy to do so.

And honestly maybe they have a 2nd, 3rd or 4th option they are more interested in?

Buckeye: Whether you write or call, it will make little difference. You will go down as one of the players who never intended to travel (in their eyes). Just the nature of the beast.

The lesson being, don't get emotionally involved before meeting.

Helen's phone is dead so that's out. I DID get attached to them both and was going to visit both. I know what I need to say, it's just hard to do. But I will do it cause you're right, it's not fair to them. If they brand me as a player there's nothing I can do about that.

I'll finish up the emails from hell and send them tonight.

Helen's phone is dead so that's out. I DID get attached to them both and was going to visit both. I know what I need to say, it's just hard to do. But I will do it cause you're right, it's not fair to them. If they brand me as a player there's nothing I can do about that.

I once had to do this to a lady in Barnaul, I would have surely gone to meet her next, but the one I did go to meet was the first to correspond with me and I felt we had the most in common, boy, how wrong was I, anyway I wrote a long letter to this lady telling exacvtly what had happened and why I would not be going to see her. She actually wrote back to me thanking me for being hoest with her and wishing me good luck in the future and she told me she totally understood why I had written and explained everything to her.

So don't look on this as a negative thing, it maybe for the best for her aswell?

Going on from here, I came back after my adventure and wrote to her again a few months later, asking if she was still interested in communicating with me, I never got a reply, I followed it up and still got no response, so I gave up with her, but I still don't know if she ever got my second round of letters.

It is not easy, but you have to do it, once it is done you will feel better though, I am sure

I've said goodbye to several ladies I'd written to before this round and everyone of them thanked me and wished me well. In each case I was up front and they appreciated it very much as would any one. I never got a single you rotten BA***RD letter, in very sharp contrast to the goodbyes I've handled here at home. I had a particulary strong connection with Helen, who was ready to start a life if the chemistry was there, and I won't soon forget her. PLUS, she was the first RW I talked to on the phone.

SO! It's done and I wanna get back to talking about my girlie, girl here.

Irina's friend Lena called after I dropped her off at her place Monday night and told her she was a fool if she let me get away. Oddly enough, I knew that one was coming as I got along with Lena & Allan very well. Looking forward to the next visit.

Both of us want to get out of Maine and my closing date is May 15. As soon as I get my cut of the proceeds (sold the house, IYR) I'm paying off a couple bills and heading to U-Haul. Then there's a ton of new stuff I'm gonna need help with. Like as soon as we get settled in we're finding an ESL class for her (Adult Ed?). She's learned pretty good English, but is very embarassed that she doesn't speak better. And a driver's license and car would be kinda nice too. She actually has the money saved to put toward a decent ride and there's a good job waiting for her in Conn.

The bum she married never did a thing. Oh, and I have the same word on him from Lena who KNOWS him. I could see Lena was holding back and didn't want to upset Irina, but she despises him. He's a turd!

Good luck, I hope it all works out for you. I am glad the letters (emails) were sent to Helen and Sveta, and I know it was tough to do, but it was the proper thing to do. Many will question your decisions, heck, the speed is even a little fast for me to keep up with, but your a big boy, and can make your own decisions.

I do expect an invitation when the time comes!

Its not that huge. According to the last census, it was only 6000 and some. I have seen many of them, they are not as open with the community as in other cities. I hang out with many Russians on Friday and Saturday nights and am friends with the most popular of the community here.

What can I say? She LIKES McD's and offers to help or pay outright all the time and loves my cooking too. Tried Shishlik today from the "recipe" down in the food forum. She enjoyed it lots, had a second big helping of tater salad too. I made pasta salad last Saturday for a picnic and she talked about it all week.

Bless me brothers for I have sinned. It's been too many days since my last Irina update!

Yeh, we've been having a good time together.

Friday was well, magical. We spent some quality time together during the afternoon after she talked to her niece/daughter and then Mama on the phone. I got to say hello to mama, nice lady who speaks just a little English and was/is a Dr. My brother and his lady/my best friend (I introduced them) came out for supper and I tried cooking the shashlik. They absolutely adore her. Then my parents decided to go shopping at Wally's on Sunday and met her and THEY fell in love with her too. Mom's very perceptive and her first words to me were "Now I know why you feel the way you do about her Tim".

We still see each other everyday (GOD, it's nice living so close), even if it's just me taking her to work, and are growing closer and closer. I'm busy with packing and moving my stuff to my parents barn as the closing date fast approaches. I'm looking for decent apts. in Conn and temperary lodging here while we finish up the details and cut the ties to Maine. She's working hard to get her driver license and wants to finish that before we go too.

I took her to supper last night and she was dieing for some KFC, then we went shopping at Target and I bought a couple nice things for her ($20 worth) off the clearance racks and had a great time. I've never enjoyed shopping so much in my life.

So, if my girlie girl, Fairytale Princess has me under her thumb I don't care, it's comfy for now. The attraction factor is very mutual in all phases of our new relationship and we're just taking each day as it comes.

So I'm happy to say I'm whipped and loving it.

We're waiting for her appointment letter from the State to take her road test and get her driver license. We'll hit the road right after that. Don't plan to buy for now. I found a nice apartment that I hope to get into in time. Nice rent and all utilities.

MAN! Does that Lady like to shop! I found out tonight that she's been shopping deprived for over a year and she's making up for lost time. We've been out looking at stuff two nights this week (I bought her a Fantastic bikini that she modeled for me last night ) and tonight she picked up "a few things" while I lugged them all over Burlington Coat Factory, and of course got to preview at the fitting rooms. Yup! I'll carry her things and hold her purse too. She did say that it was especially nice cuz we were together. (C'mon now, let me hear an awww, that's so sweet.)

And yes, Irina is the consumate bargain hunter. She'll look at something for ten mimutes, say "very nice" and put it back and walk away. Then after a couple days she'll go back to buy it. Last night she spent $60 (of her $$) on several items (6 or 7 things) that, as you said Bob, would have been spent on just one thing somewhere else. She's very thrifty.

This is the first time that I've EVER actually enjoyed going shopping with a Lady. I have as much fun picking things for her to look at and watching her fuss over them as she does. She's a true girlie girl and I think I'll just keep her.

Pics are coming! She just gave me some yesterday. I'll fire up the scanner in a bit (after my coffee). She hasn't been feeling very photogenic and refuses to let me take any right now, due to a little disaster with her hair. She did a home perm and the chemicals were too harsh and her hair keeps breaking off at the ends. I keep telling her she's gorgeous, but she's pretty upset about it and won't hear it yet. Trust me she's a BABE! If you thought Helen was something wait till you see Irina. VAVAVOOM!!

Yeh, she's a flower alright. My Fairytale Princess. DEFINATELY a keeper boys. Whoda thunk it? Walmart of all places! Too bad though, they only had one in stock and I got her.

I just wanted to enjoy the moment for a little while before the scam watch jumped in. I've already sniffed out a couple of scammers and continue to read up on things to watch for.

I am very happy to report that after nearly a month of seeing this Lady every day and spending lots of quality time and having many meaningful talks I am very comfortable with her and have no fear that she's using me. She spends as much of her own money on me as I spend on her so no GTG here that I can see. Irina could very well be "The One", but time will tell that tale.

Well last night we had a nice supper at 99 Pub and then spent the rest of the evening on the couch cuddling, talking and watching an old Russian war movie. We had a great time just being together as usual. I got my ego stroked when I stopped for a bottle of Bino and the cashier (Oksana) turned out to be Ukrainian. I said good evening in my best russian ever and she replied with something that I don't have a real clue, but might have been "do you speak Russian". She told me she didn't hear any accent at all. I laughed and smiled all the way back out to the truck and told Irina (who waited in the truck) about it as we drove to her place.

Tonight, we had supper at Ground Round with my parents. Man was she nervous, (as well as looking fabulous) but we all had the best time and they fell in love with her too. We spent 3 hours eating and then talking as Irina told them about Russia. They have officially welcomed her to the family. I didn't think mom was ever gonna let go of her. I guess I'll have to pop the question sometime, someday.

Nice legs dags!

Well I'm in the middle of packing up my house and have to be out by tomorrow night. I may have to quit my job just to get the whole day off to get it all done. Buyer wants to do the walk through at 6 pm tomorrow and they still want me to come to work! I don't have a snowball's chance to get it all done even without work. This would just have to be the week they are short of drivers! Thank God I have a great family and they've been working like beavers while I'm hauling track teams all over the place.

Anyway, I will be off line for a few days until I get situated in my new temporary digs.

Everybody behave while I'm gone. I'll miss ya bunches.

Finally finished the move and I'm in my temporary (God, PLEASE make it temporary) abode and am 5 mins from work and Irina. Her road test is next Fri (30th) and I'm getting her behind the wheel at every opportunity. The 23rd is my last day for work and we're expecting to be headed for CT the first week of June. I'm gonna get my puter today and try to get connected so I can keep up with the news.

ROFLMAO! Thanks Dags, who doesn't like the cheerleaders? I don't think G is going to get a race from me. Inspite of things happening so fast initially, we're just not in that big of a rush. We both like to be togther as much as possible and we enjoy getting better acquainted, but we really are going to take our time before we head down the aisle.

We even had our first spat/disagreement/misunderstanding last night. Things were pretty tense for awhile and she even called her best friend and told her we were done, but after I finally got her talking to me again, we kissed and made up til 2 am. I'm glad it happened as it brought us even closer and made our new relationship stronger. I keep telling her that we can weather any storm if we just keep communicating and for once I was right. Strong communication builds a strong relationship. That and me on my knees begging for mercy.

You got that right! I'm tempted to pick fights now just to make up.

I've had her out driving a couple times, but not enough for sure. She had been taking lessons, but it got to be too expensive and I got to ride along on her last one to observe the instructor's techniques. he understood completely and encouraged my participation. This week we will be on the road a lot and she'll have time to get comfortable behind the wheel. I have all the confidence in the world that irina will do just fine and we can get headed for CT the first week of June. I'm gonna get her out of town tomorrow and let her just drive for a couple hours then we'll work on parrallel parking. her instr had the best way to do it I've ever seen so I know she'll do fine.

Well it's official now. Irina is officially mother henning me. She's been after me for a couple weeks to get a shoe shine kit for my black loafers and today she marched me into her Walmart (to get some hair spray) and dragged me back to the shoes and grabbed a shine sponge and shined my shoes on the spot. Then she took off a shoe in the parking lot and wiped some excess off with her sock.

Add that to all the lint (and cat hair) picking and I think she's thinking long term? Plus she's emailing my pics to her friends (eto moy Tim).

Oh, and my wardrobe is taking a major upgrade too. Gotta look good for Mama in Yoskar Ola this July.
