Hello all - I am brand new at this site and new to russian women. I have been corrosponding with a nice young lady privatly for the last month and she wants to come here on a tourist visa. Cool - we discussed splitting the cost and agreed on a plan - shes got the visa in hand goes to the airport and they tell her at customs to show $3400.00 to show that she can support herself here in the US. She says she doesnt need any money as she will be with me...
Anyone else have this happen to them?

Thanks BC

Numerous, numerous, numerous people. It is called a scam. Sorry. :-(

Scam, sorry mate. Walk away now; probably not even a woman but some criminal gang run by Hairy Yuri or his cousin Hairy Boris.

It is close to impossible for a single Russian woman to get a visa to the US or any Western Country for tourism. Have a read of the site threads about scammers and be prepared for next time.

Welcome to RMP

Good article, should be required reading before anyone starts their search in FSU.

Sadly, you have lost your "Split" of the visa and ticket costs. Don't feel bad, Boris's wife, her name is Westernalia Unionova has just collected her "Split" from about 30 others the same day. Tomorrow she will receive 30 more.

Spend the next few months reading around this and similar forums, then you will begin to understand this whole process. In the meantime, understand RW are not Pizza, you can't "Order In" and wait for the front door bell to ring, it is counter service only. You gotta front up.

Don't feel bad, I made a Russian friend (male) at the hostel I was staying at during my travels and we hung out all week. After I had emailed him the pics of him from my digital camera when I returned home he gave me a sob story on how his mother got sick and could please loan him some $$$$. He even gave me the Western Union office to send it to. I was wise to his tricks and did not reply to him.

Point is Russian scammers have no problem trying to get money out of anyone.
