Cheap Airfare

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I know it's going to keep putting more of a dent in our wallets as fuel prices continue to climb. But this outfit save me approx $1000 on a pair of ticket over the local agents or a web based one I've used in the past.

They beat Orbitz, Priceline, cheaptickets.com, Travelocity and East-west-tours.com as well as many others online.

Compare them to your favorites..

Thanks Mike it's always worth a look if there's the possibility of saving some money.

Saves me about $25. Not much but it's a savings. Thanks AkMike

What did you compare to GTR? Using the same parameters this plaace rocked compaered to dozens of others. I'd hate to think it only worked for Ak.

US customers only?? I get a tracking error when I try to use the site.

Posted by: AkMike

Possibly GG?.!? I never tried any other parameters..

Maybe you need to fly to NYC then look for fares??

It can change.

Interesting find Stirlitz!
For now I think that the cost of fuel will keep much of any changes on hold though.
I can't imagine that anyone will be able to bring back better fares until that happens.

Im not seeing any real significant difference between all these sources, I guess I will look more closely next week when I actually book my flight. I am more interested in the times to the destinations and the number of stops. I will pay the extra $200 for a 1 stop flight to Moscow than a multiple stop.

Posted by: AkMike

From here their all multi stops and 2-3 hr layovers. I try to check all locals and online places for best price. 19 to 26 hrs of airtime/ travel is normal from here.
The European guys are lucky that way.

They are lucky, the Moscow trip is going to be about 15 hours for me, the Omsk trip will be around 23 hours and about $1600 RT.

I searched for flights from AZO to KIV on the same days, I think it was the last 2 Fridays of April. I compared to all the on-line airline services like Travelocity.

GTR, I have been going up to Michigan alot recently in my travels, what was with that dang snow you had last week? I thought you wolverines knew how to keep your roads clean...LOL

Posted by: GoingToRussia

Yes it has been a long hard winter here in the southern part of the LP. We had a long hot summer though last year and I'm a firm believer of mother nature evening things out ... sure enough ... a long cold winter! I told Larisa it is a good thing she isn't here ... she would hate Michigan with the winter we had.

Columbus had a huge dumping of snow about 4 weeks ago, 2 feet I think it was. The midwest has had a tough winter and I've never seen our roads so full of pot holes. I see many "orange barrels" in my near future.

yeah, that storm was something, my county was on a Level 3 Snow emergency, could not leave my house for 2 days, spent the 3rd day shoveling out. I had 21 inches of snow on my deck and 5 foot drifts accross my driveway (and the ex got custody of the snow blower, so it was the ole shovel for me, OUCH!)...LOL

I sent pics of the storm to my Lady in Siberia and she just laughed at me, saying "You want to see some snow, come to Omsk, I will show you snow" She can be such a smart a** sometimes...LOL

I'm loading up the snowmachines for a trip to the 'dacha'. I'll toss up a couple of fresh pics when we get back. I do think it'll be the last trip for the year though. We need to button it up for the year and work on bear proofing it.
The trip to Ukraine is coming up fast!

When you are not in the lower 48, it adds a whole total different dimension to getting to the FSU. The stopovers/routings, if you are starting in Alaska or Hawaii, can affect the the fares, in a variety of ways.

I tried to help AkMike out, and was getting a headache from doing it. And I do this kind of work for a living. He eventually got something on FareCrawler, which appears to be working out.

So, it may be worthwhile to check them out.
