Mike is right, I seen a documentary stating that very age range.

Remember that the definition of a medical doctor in Russia is slightly different then US doctor.

No its not, its the same, have to go to college, med school, residency, just like here. Although their techniques are not as advanced and sometimes they cannot work in the "Doctor" field after school, but they receive the same amount of education as here in US.

Showing a bit of bias hey Blue? A Russian doctor pioneered freeze therapy in the 1950s (why not use a resource there is so much of hey?) for helping the healing of heart attack victims, here we are in 2008 and the western world is just getting onto the idea and it is an Australian Doctor who is the leader in the field now.

icarusi, if you read profiles and the person says their occupation is "doctor" yet they are only 18-24 or so they are still training but nonetheless they believe they are a doctor and put it on their profile.

That seems to tally. I thought she'd said 21 but rechecked. It also seems to vary around the world and also in the context.

Oz,

You are quite right about this and to be honest it doesn't matter where the lady comes from or what her age is. I know a "doctor" that is in her 30's, in school and calls herself a doctor. It is one of those things you do not find out about until you get into the conversation a bit, but it will usually come through. Personally, I have no problem with whatever someone calls themself. If you want me to call you a neuro-psychiatrist when in reality you are a ditch digger I'm OK with that. I'll just call you Bob and be done with it then!!!

Anyway, I think that a little perserverance goes a long way when dealing with things that don't seem to add up.

About 23 years old. Assuming that she got into a medschool right after a high school, which is not uncommon.

My friend Ralf (or Dr Behrendt, if you prefer), from the old East Germany, who did his medical training in Moscow, says he's heard that plenty of times. He also says that as far as he can see, there's no qualitative difference in techniques, it's more down to funding for equipment that causes the perceived differences.

Well, techniques and equipment kinda go hand in hand. You have laproscopic surgery with the advanced equipment, lasers and MRI imaging, that would be technique and equipment. I have not seen personally how a Russian hospital is equipped, Im just going by what my Lady has told me. From what I understand, they are equipped about the way a US hospital was equipped in the early 80's.

I've been to a hospital in Russia that was absolutely horrible, and to other facilities that were fairly... ok. You can get an MRI, laproscopic surgery and all the latest techniques, but be willing to pay extra. As a matter of fact the hospital in Moscow that is contracted to do chest xrays for immigrant visa's reminded me of a VA hospital. It showed wear and tear, but in its heyday it looks like it was pretty posh.

Regarding the quality of Docs, I had a rash for like a year from my cat in the states, couldn't get rid of it. Went to a Doc in Russia, 40 dollars later, and a script for some herbals and it was completely gone in less than a week.

Just depends on where you go I guess...
