Just want to bring this to mind....two major things happen at Alitalia.

First, the carrier could possibly be sold. Air France is most likely going to be the buyer.

Second, Alitalia plans to close their hub operation at Milan/Malpensa. They will continue to serve Milan, out of the Linate airport, which is smaller. The main question is, what flights will get moved to Linate, which will be moved to Rome, and which will exist at all.

From Milan/Malpensa, AZ currently flies to New York(JFK and Newark), Miami, Chicago and Boston. And to the FSU cities of Moscow, St. Petersburg and Kiev.

Hard to say what is going to happen. But if they do this in the middle of summer, it may cause a lot of problems worldwide.....so stay tuned
