Confirmed Identity?

Is there a way to confirm someone's identity?
I am writing a girl from Lugansk, Ukraine, and have some information on her I don't want to post publicly, but I would be interested in confirming her identity, if there's anyone close to there or who knows how to do this.

As some of you may remember, I am here because of letters I recieced from a probable scammer, and now that I've begun an email relationship on my own, I simply would like some reassurrance.

She is willing to answer my questions, her replies correllate with my emails, and she eagerly sent me her full name, address and B-day, so I doubt she's not who she says she is...the only question now...is she after the same things I'm after? (ie: a loving marriage relationship.)

She does not have a phone, but said her friend does, and would be willing (with her friend's permission) to set a day/time I could call. I must admit, I am eager to do this. Anyone know an inexpensive resource for these calls?

So far it sounds good.

Thanks!

did you look at Lena's site?

Everybody knows her and she has good prices for the service she does.

Thank you!

Yes, I've seen her site, and plan to use her service at some point, but since my friend does not have a phone, and we would be calling her friend's house, I thought it would be better if I spoke with her at least once before I had someone else call...

Meanwhile, are there any other services that can help identify someone, and assist in determining whether they are legitimate? I am checking the scammer lists, etc, but any information or links would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

not sure what country in the FSU you're calling, but I call my fiancee in Odessa, Ukraine and buy calling cards from a site called masterbell.com. Costs me about 12 cents/min and the connection is usually good. That's cheaper than what I paid per minute to call parents and girlfriend in state when I was back in college.

Have no connection to the company at all. Just replying to your request. Good luck. Hope you have a keeper!

I buy my calling card form LDpost.com and get the EuroMAMA card which is 7.9 cents a minute to Odessa, Ukraine (no connection fees or additional fees to call a cell phone, good for 3 months from first usage). 3 hours and 30 minutes for $20.
I also know if you will do a general search on Google, you can find detective agencies in the Ukraine and Russia that will do back ground checks for you and even verify the existence of the individual that you are writing. I have never personally used them, I just know they exist. Best of luck to you!

Thanks all!
I got a very interesting email from her early today...it had the phone number in it!

Now, with her name, b-day, address and a phone number (admittedly not hers, but a close friend's), I think I feel pretty confident about her identity.

However, we've been discussing visiting eachother, and of course, we both would like to visit the other first...I can't say I blame her, because I feel the same way, but we have not discussed money as of yet...
How many of you have come across a RW who was willing and able to pay her way to the US? I would have no problem covering the costs, but I will not send money in advance...I just could never bring myself to do it.
Suggestions?

THANKS!
