Hey guys, this was kind of mentioned in another thread, but I thought maybe I should have my own thread on this.

Sat.23rd
I was so nervous be for before leaving to meet with her.
I didn't know what I should wear,I wanted to make a good first impression,I think I changed 4 times trying to make up my mind.
We were meeting in front of the Eternal Flame.
There was also going to be a translator from the agency meeting us there.
I am happy the translator came.

I bought one long stem white rose.

When I seen her,she looked fairly close to the photos I had seen.Beautiful...maybe not everyones taste, but I thought she was beautiful.

We went to the Stalingrad Restaurant and had coffee and talked for over two hours.
We have somethings in common. It was funny,I asked if she like flowers and which was her favorit. The translater did not know the English translation for it,so they said they would draw me a picture of it.Before they started I said wouldn't it be funny if it was also my favorit and they laughed.
Well....guess what....it was,the same flower I like.
So your thinking big deal, well my favorit flower is a Cala Lily, not really one you find every where and to find some else that even knows this flower...WOW

Any ways we left the Stalingrad and the translator had to leave.
We walked for over an hour and a half and with the few English words she knows and the few Russian words I know we did very good understanding each other.

I got home and I can not stop thinking of this lady,I have already sent her an email.

Well thats it for now,Sun.I am meeting with another lady, don't really want after meeting the first one...

Randy

Sun.24,

Met with another lady today, also very beautiful and very tall.I am about 5'7" and she is about 5"9".
I did not get quite the same vibes from this girl as I had with the other girl, and this one could speak English.
We walked and talked, then went to the Stary Stallingrad and had dinner.
LOL,when I removed my napkin from my lap..........I seen my fly was wide open....a little red in the face.I have lost a lot of weight since I moved here and the pants are so loose I didn't know it was down.

We walked and talked and she gave me her number.
Very nice lady, but like I said earlier, there wasn't them vibes.
But I will not rule her out just yet.

Randy

Posted by: AkMike

Randy, don't worry about 'vibes' at this stage... Look for real qualities that endure and personality.. That 'falling in lust puppy love' is for teens before they get their hearts wrenched out for the first time.

Posted by: sidney

Is the 5-9 with the 4" heels they all wear?
Sid

Posted by: AkMike

Who cares Sid? If she's wearing ONLY 4" heels, it's all good!

Mon.25
Saturday was a holiday in Russia, but since I do not work Sat,we got Monday off.The holiday was Defenders Day or mans day.

My friend Andrew who is British and is a manager in some factory here, asked if I wanted to walk to Mamyev Hill .It is about a 45 minute walk and it is close to where the first lady lives. So I went for the walk.
Just before we got there I called her and asked if she would like to meet me at the hill. She said yes

After we met Andrew sugested we go back to the city centre to the Grand Cafe. She thought it was a good idea so we went and had lunch.
After we were done Andrew left and my lady friend and I went for a walk.
A long walk,we had fun trying to talk to each other and we laughed a lot.

Finally she had to leave, but before she did I set up a date with her for the coming weekend to go to the circus and dinner, she sounded very excited to want to go to the circus and said she likes it very much.

I think every town over 200,000, maybe smaller that I've been to in Ukraine has at least 1.
Cherkassy is about 300,000 pop and it has a nice one. So does Stevastopol and that one has 7/24 soldiers guarding it. Cool changing of the guard just like at the kings palace at Copenhagen. Except the soldiers in Denmark have those nifty bearskin hats like the Brit's

Posted by: Chillidog

In Moscow besides the one you have mentioned and the one evryone knows. They even have a small "eternal flame" behind the "Moscow State University" it is a smaller monument to the "Patriotic War" and is not guarded but the flame never goes out. Have only been to two cities in Russia but the same thing. I think like AkMike says there probably in almost every city you go to

Change of plans, seems like this circus is leaving ,so we will wait for the following week for the new one to get here.
Now I have to come up with something differant, maybe the theater or opera or just go see a movie that I won't be able to understand.

I will find something to do with her...

Randy

Posted by: BluesTraveler

Go to the movies. If it is an American movie you will most likely understand most of it, even if it is dubbed. I watch Russian television all the time, and I am amazed at how much I understand.

Posted by: blucatz

Take her dancing. I have never met a Russian woman who did not like to dance.

Posted by: mistermopar

Good ideas...
I am trying to find out about the comedy theater, but there is nothing on the net about it,so I will have to ask at work if they can help me out.

I missed this one I walked from Sparrow Hills to Victory Park and did not see it. Are you talking about the eternal flame in Victory Park?

No,

I do not recall the name of street that runs in front of the University, but you actually have to walk into the fenced off area and go around to the back side, I believe of the main building, they have some ball fields and such back there, and a small monument to the Patroitic war, it is not something you would see as a normal tourist, the guide/translator was a friend of the lady I met and she was giving me a tour of the University to show both of us where she majored in languages. I took a picture of it do not remember how well it turned out, will post it if it is any good.

March 1st

Today I met with my friend again.I also got to meet her daughter, very nice girl. She was going home and me and her mother were going to the circus.

We got the tickets and had 1 1/2 hours to kill.We walked around and talked. It is amazing how much we can understand each other with her very limited English and my limited Russian.

We went back to the circus, this one was called Circus on Water.
It was so excellent,I am sooo happy we went. This is one I will not forget.
We laughed at the clowns and were in aw at the serious parts of the show.
It was about 3 hours long.

After the circus we went to The Bar and Grill. It was the first time I was there and also her first time. She doesn't get to go out to restaruants often because of her income.

We both had the filet minon, mine with mashed potatos and she had rice with hers.
There was live music, they would do 3 or 4 songs and take a break, then do 3 to 4 more and so on.They sang English and Russian songs.Nothing heavy, all very light and kind of romantic songs, except for one,"Johnny Be Good".

We talked and took some photos of each other.
I think I am in trouble...I really like her

We walked back towards my place and then I put her on the Metro home.
The walk back to my apartment,I felt like I was floating on air.

I told her I wanted to see her next Saturday March 8th....its Woman's Day.So I will have to reserve a table somewhere this day.

Randy

Yes Randy the sleepless nights, lack of concentration, walking around in a haze, thinking of a life together, and of course missing her ... it's all part of the process. It's a good feeling but try to keep your thoughts and witts about you.

All sounds good and don't worry ... you'll be "fluffing pillows" before you know it!

This was the smartest thing I have ever done......I think.

Just curious Randy and you don't have to answer ... but I was wondering if the subject of moving back to Canada was brought up? If so, was it by you or her. Probably a little too early in the relationship to discuss but at sometime very relavent.

GTR,it was brought up at our first meeting when the translator was there.
It wasn't when am I moving back,it was how long do you want to stay in Russia.
She asked me yesterday why I liked it here so much, difficult to explain so I told her because she was here .Wasn't a lie....

Randy

Posted by: AkMike

Tell her that you're considering staying there permately. Watch for her reaction....
I used that as a 'test question' to look out for a possible GCG.

Mike.....I don't think this would surprise her.She loves her country and her city.
I think she would only move to another country if she had to.
The other girl that I had met had a differant reaction about me wanting to stay here.....She seemed more like she wanted out of here.....

Yes, I agree with you. Spending month in Moscow was very good and very good way to meet people in general. I liked it because I had opportunity to be part of the cultural and society, which in turn gave me a opportunity have some common experiences with the people I met.

Well, yesterday I bought a real nice Teddybear and reserved a table at a nice restaruant,I had the flowers picked out that I was going to buy.

Then I got an email from her when I got home from work.
She has to go to Moscow Thursday, something about work.
She won't be here for Womans Day...

I wrote her back and said I understand.I know how little she makes and any money for her helps. But why on this *%#$@!* day!

Well me and Johnny (Walker)are going to be close buddies this weekend...LOL

I told her to call me when she gets back and we can celebrate then.

Don't you just hate when that happens. You plan the perfect evening and some egghead comes along and screws it up for you by sending your woman away on business. Well, say "Hello" to Johnny for me, Me and Jose (Cuervo) have a meeting planned this weekend as well

A little bit off the subject, so please forgive me. I just started taking some private tutoring last week, from a young woman who is teaching at the local unviersity located by me on a "Fulbright scholarship" just found out she lives and teaches Law students english in her home town of Volograd. How long ago did you arrive in Volgograd, I mentioned that their was a canadian teaching english there. Just thought is was an interesting coincidence.

Sorry about this weekend, and I agree with everyone, it is not a lot of fun to drink alone, no matter what Johnny Walker says, go to the local disco

I arrived in Sept.2007
It is interesting...I bet she is beautiful....at least 98% of them from here are.

I will try to find something to do...maybe just relax with Jack...LOL

Alls good,I was a little disapointed last night, but I know we can celebrate this day on Sun. or Mon.

Yes, she is atractive, blonde hair, very nice person, I of course have not asked her age, but I think she is in her late 20's (a little young for me) when it comes to women I appreciate a pretty face/eyes and a nice shaped back side (not a chest man) and she does have a very attractive face but too thin, not enough shape for me.
Her scholarship starte with the beginning of school last fall and she returns to Volgograd in May, she did tell me she has been to New York, Boston, Philadelphia (why?) so I am not sure if she visited these places over Christmas/New Years break from college or seen them on a previous visit.

I am currently doing what I told you not to do (drinking alone) and tipping back a few beers. Again sorry not being able to spend women's day with your lady friend, but understand completely your reasoning, I am much the same as you, and would rather sit home than take a chance on ruining a possible good thing. Good luck, hopefully you will see her on Sunday

What are you doing up it is around 5am there (Volgograd time), your lady friend is most deffinitly sleeping. I have not been around RMP long but it is impossible to judge the effect RMP has had already. I was ready to chuck this whole thing in and live a life without a mate, Maybe even join a convent , with RMP now I am taking tudoring lessons and again fully believe I will find my beloved (and I am not trying to blow smoke up a person's **S).
How did you end up living and working in Russia? Is what you do now the profession you where in when you lived in Canada? or was it someting you did because of your desire to be with a FSU woman?
Yea, a drink some day would be great whoever finds there beloved first buys the first round!

I had just got back from a birthday party of one of the teachers at the school,we went to the White Horse.Great place, live band and they sung most of the songs in English.
It is not the same profession as I had in Canada.I worked in a hospital for 17 1/2 years part time as a client services associate(cleaning, serveing food, portering patients and many other things).
I took a course in my fre time to teach English(ESL).I found a job in the city that I wanted and moved here in late Aug.of 2007.
I enjoyed holidays so much in Russia,I wanted to move here.My friends and some of my family thought I was nutsBut this has been the best decision I have ever made in my life.....I think.
I get to meet with beautiful women all the time and am not limited to two or three weeks.

Keep looking around the RPM,it will keep you out of the convent....LOL
You can also click on my name and see all of the threads I have started and have replied to...

Mistermopar,
Last night spent a lot of time reading your two threads that lead up to you getting this teaching job. I will say this it took a lot of BALLS to do you what you did, just fantastic!!! It appears as of now you have no regrets in this decision.
I have been down that same road (as far as feeling that you needed a change in your life, but no where as ballsie never left my country) mine was when my daughters (twins) were 3 (17 years ago) had an office job. and both my boss and his boss left the company, everyone at my work (including myself) thought I would at the very least get my immediate bosses job, well needless to say I ended up training not only my immediate new boss but this person's boss as well. Saw the writing on the wall and looked into a different profession, the one I have now, very happy with this decision and have never looked back.

sorry for getting off track. to get back on your thread, did you meet up with your Lady on Sunday? looking for an update!!!!

Posted by: mistermopar

Hey Chilli,
Ya sounds similar to my story, only I was passed by because I was not bilingual English/french.I ended up training people with less senority to do the full time positions.
Ya...I guess at my age it took a lot of balls to make such a big move.

Well my friend did not make it back until Tuesday night.
She sent me an email right away and wanted to meet with me on Wednesday.
I reminded her I did not finish work until 9:00 at night. She lives a little disstance from me.It didn't matter to her and wanted to see me .

On my way to work I picked up (you won't believe this) 2 Calla Lilies.
I got to work and realised I had got an even number...oh oh.
One of the other teachers had a break and I asked if they could run to the flower shop and grab another one for me,to make it an uneven number...phew that was close.

She met me out side of work when I was done and I gave her the flowers, she was so excited.
We walked to a cafe for coffee and cheese cake.We had fun and laughed, trying to understand each other, but we manage.
She told me she would like to take an English course, thats great.

I walked her to the metro and when I got home I called her to make sure she made it home safe.

Maybe I should have visited Vologard instead of Moscow - most the women on the Metro were no more beautiful than in the US (at least suburban Detroit). Does make much difference since I am almost spoken for ... we see in June.

I don't think it matters where you go in the FSU. I've been to Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, and Bulgaria (not part of the FSU) and everywhere you look you see beautiful women!!!

Posted by: mistermopar

Yes I would have to say I,m smitten, and many other things.

When I was walking to work on Friday I ran into my friend on the street, almost did't see her.I'm not use to meeting people here on the street that I know.We talked for a few minutes and then I had to go to work.

I met with my friend again today(Sat).Almost screwed things up.I was supost to meet her at 2:00 and I woke up at 1:35....late night, birthday of one of the teachers .
I got to her at 2:10,I don't think she was really impressed with that.

We went and got tickets for a comedy theater that will be on the 29th of Mar.

Then we went for coffee and some desert, pruns drenched in chocolate with whipcream and a cherry on top,not to bad, don't think I would eat it every day.

She keeps telling me that she is old (42).She finds it hard to believe anyone would be interested in her, espeacially a younger man.
So a lot of ladies asume when they are older here that their life is over.
I keep telling her how beautiful she is and that she isn't old.

I walked her to the metro and tried for the big kiss......but I got the cheek again ...LOL

Sunday we are going to go to dinner and I think I better buy flowers

I had told her that I wanted to take her for dinner on Sun.
So when I was out Sun.morning I bought a big bunch of flowers. With my pay it cost a lot.
I called her when I got home. She said she was busy with work and couldn't meet with me.

Later her daughter called and said that her mom would be able to see me after 8:00 for coffee.I brought the flowers and met her,we had a good time.
I walked her to the metro and I got got to give her 3 kisses on the cheek, its a step up.

I told her to call when she got home so I would know she made it ok,and she did.
I sent her an SMS on Mon. and did not get a relay,Tues.comes and it is now midnight and still no reply.

I hope she isn't changing her mind.Maybe I shouldn't be worried.

I think it is too soon to be worrying, it maybe a case that things are going good, and she is not used to the attention and being treated correctly, and is trying to sort out her feelings. There could be a thousand reasons, even to her having some problems with her cell. As you say things are progressing, a couple of pecks on the cheek, you know as well as anyone, that relationships need time, and some times a person has to take a step back or a breath to determine their feelings, at this time I do not see anything to worry about.

Posted by: redhawk

glad to hear things are going well. just dont get "too RANDY". this is obviously a true lady, and at 42,she is very careful of where she places her trust and heart. i dont think you have anything to worry about either.in russia,it seems to me like their society thinks 30 is old,and in my case,a 30 without children is ancient. i get to hear about this alot from my 30 year old RW i also think she is just being cautious,to make sure you wont rip her heart out and pee on it,and the fact that she has a child involves, makes her even more cautious. all these are good signs.(she is a caring serious person, who is not a fly- by -nighter)

Posted by: mistermopar

Thanks Chilli and redhawk,

Even with experiance,I sometimes get worried.I want this to be the one .I hope I do not have to say it again with another.
Maybe I am trying to rush things a little.

But WOW what a feeling I have when I am with her.

I just recieved an email from her this morning. It made me feel better.

I will just have to be patient and see how things work out.

Have you thought about trying a little reverse psychology on yourself. Instead of looking for a wife look for some female friends. Also, how is your knowledge of Russian films and Russian history? I found Russian women are very fond of men who have an excellent knowledge of Russian culture. Just some suggestions.

Oh, what an unfortunate situation. But please don't hate women, and all this situation. Other women are not guilty just because one of them happends not to like you, and happens to have a sort of inferiority complex.

My assumption would be that if a woman tells a man let's be friends', that means 'I am not attracted to you'. Just a polite way to say it.

It might have been the case that she did not like you from the first minutes of your meeting. She ought to say right away ' excuse me but I don't think there is a chance for us', but she had no guts to tell it out.

Another thing is her thoughts on her age. Yes, in Russia a 42 yo woman is old, and not just old, but terribly, awkwardly, inescapably old. A 35 yo is already old, what to say about a 42 yo! The Russian society nourish and develop this mentality, it is one of worst things about Russian. She may think that she is not worth of a good man.

But again, there is no point to get that upset, even in an unfortunate situation. Keep up!

Posted by: sidney

mistermopar, why get upset. You're in a place where next has a deeper meaning. Date around and begin to narrow it down to one. This is just a process of starting over and not like many of us which would mean more trips and everything that goes with it. Enjoy the hunt, you'll look back on this all as some of the best of times.
Sid

Mistermopar,
I see you have edited your post, any change in the situation?
I do feel terrible for you, I know you had deep hopes she was the one, things like this are never easy, as in all relationships time is the true test, and so take your time to sort your feelings and to grow and nuture new relationships, keep your chin-up!!!!

I believe Russian have a saying that goes something like: nothing works the first time

You went to Russia because a change was needed in your life, and also hopes that living there would make the process of finding your mate easier, I think in all honesty you did not believe that the woman would just fall from the sky into your lap, grow into your Russian life and everything will happen in time.

Posted by: GoingToRussia

Sorry about the news Randy, I can relate. Take some time to think and heal ... but not to much time. With all the "sights" to see in Volgograd, you'll "pick up a new scent" soon!

Take care and be well my friend,
Steve

Posted by: mistermopar

I have to say I'm sorry for the things I said,I don't hate Russian women.....I hate all women...LOL JOKEING

As most people here know I am alone here in Russia,I have no family or really any friends here in Russia to talk to when things like this happen.I sat in my apartment and I just got sadder and more upset, not like me to do that.

Thank you to everyone who replied and made me feel better, sort of...

I am feeling much better tonight,I know things like this happen to people but I was not ready for it,but then again, are we ever.

Yes there are a lot of beautiful women here, but it is to find the one that gives you butterflies in your stomach every time your with them, you know the good feeling, they don't come along very often.

Everyone here is like my family,I should have just came and told yous in a nicer way what happened and got I know yous would have gave me great advice.

So once again sorry for my thoughtless post,I hope yous can forgive me.

No things have not changed,I am still single.
Tomorrow I am calling the agencey and am going to try to set up a meeting with another.....fall off a horse you get right back on...
