Hello everyone...

For our members who are seeking a relationship with a Russain woman (or man), I wanted to ask others for feedback as to what is the best approach to search for and find the best Russian mate and happiest/ most successful Russian-Western relationship?

Does anyone have any feedback or advice about this??

I have my own thoughts, and I will post them soon, but.. I wanted to open this topic up so that people who are able to speak from experience can post and share their experiences and insights with others...

I do not really know what the best method for finding a Russian mate is, so can only provide info on my personal experience that was very successful.

I originally went through the largest database of Russian women I could find which was AFA (A Foreign affair). This is a good place to start given the massive list and photos of women and the amount of advice offered by this site. I also scoured the internet for additional information on this endeavor. I was fortunate enough to find Russianwomen.com., run by Elena Petrova. The amount of information given on this site is enormous and valuable to say the least. I recommend that anyone thinking about seeking a Russian mate go to this site and read all the information that Elena has written about the process of finding a mate, Russian culture, and specifically Russian women. Also recommended is joining at least one chat group/forum for those seeking a Russian mate. You can learn about all the practical aspects of seeking a mate there as well as get emotional support and advice.

I eventually settled on about 20 women I was interested in, and wrote an introductory letter which I had Elena from russianwomen.com translate for me. Sending a translated letter would be the appropriate, thoughtful, and sensible thing to do, I thought. Elena was friendly and personable when I dealt with her.

I received about 17 responses out of 20 and eventually settled on one lady in Volgograd. I paid for all of my lady’s translations to English to make it easy for her to communicate with me. In fact, all of the women complimented me very much for sending them letters in Russian and for my paying to have their letters translated to English and delivered to me. I had also learned enough about scams from Elena’s web site to not worry about something like that happening to me. All in all, it was a very positive experience communicating with these women. I also sought out the local marriage agency where my Svetlana lived and made arrangements with them to handle all my travel arrangements so that I could safely arrive to the city of Volgograd to meet my Svetlana. The agency (Karmen) took her to the airport to meet me and drove me back to my hotel and drove her home. All in all, a great experience for me. Obviously, there is always the danger that your meeting will not work out so one should take names, addresses, and phone numbers of the local marriage agencies so they can have you can go through their catalogues and set you up on dates.

Some men will have their different opinions on the best way to meet Russian mates. For instance, some will say that it is best just to go to Russia without knowing anyone and attempt to meet as many women as possible without writing beforehand. Others will recommend that you make arrangements to meet several women (after writing to them) on your trip and then attempt to make your final choice there. What worked for me may not be the best method for another person. But it did work for me and with wonderful results. Svetlana and I got to know each other in writing and by phone over many months, and by then, I knew that we were compatible and that I only wanted to be with her. She felt the same as well. By the time I met with her for the first time, we knew enough about each other personally to feel like we were long time friends. There was also a trust that had been built over time—a necessary foundation to any relationship.

This is only my personal experience of my success but I am sure others have had success using other methods. This is also a long and sometimes daunting journey with enormous payoffs! I would certainly go the same route if I had to again.
