thoughts on anastasiaweb?

Hi, New guy here from the UK. I have met a really wonderfull girl on anastasiaweb and we have been communicating now for nearly three months. So far so good. Does anyone have experience with this site? I have read a lot of negative comments about the site but so far everything is going OK. Possibly a bit expensive but worth it if you end up being with the girl of your dreams.

I have not heard anything good about this site. Ask the woman for her telephone number. The agency generates introductory e-mails and they are not real. Yes you can e-mail ths woman but is she real? You probably get 10-25 new women writing to you every day and they are the most beautiful women you ever saw. This is not realistic. Look elsewhere my friend. This site has been sued so many times I've lost count. When you call her, ask for her e-mail address. If she gives you her phone number, text her your e-mail address. To text or call, you will have to visit your cell phone company.

If you want to spend money to find a Former Soviet Union (FSU) bride, go to www.allsinglerussiangirls.com or www.elenasmodels.com. If you don't want to spend money, go to www.freepersonals.ru. This is where I found my fiancee.

Try to find proof she's for real and interested in you. You can also send flowers and have here photo taken ... it could be Hairy Ivan trying to scam you.

I'm not saying thet are all scams but I think more then 50% are. It is hard enough to find Ms. Right with this process. Don't diminish your odds by using this website.

Welcome and good luck!

I have to echo GTR's sentiments here. I did the Anastasiaweb thing for a while. They just try to soak you for money.

I booked a trip, on my own, to meet a lady I was talking to there and the minute I showed my conviction, she came up with at least 2 different reasons why she couldn't meet me. One was her sister was sick and she wanted to be with her, and the next one was that she had to go to Kiev to write some tests. Of course, both excuses coincided with the dates I had planned to be there. I had been writing to this woman for 4 months!

Steer clear of that site and stick to the ones suggested here. Good luck in your search.

LEAVE WELL ALONE

Yes I do realise that they try to milk you of all your money. That is why I never read any of the emails I recieve apart from the ones from girl I have been talking too. She has sent me her postal address in a letter through anastasia and I will include all my details when I write to her. She seems very genuine and I have not had one reason to suggest she is false. I recieved a non-photoshoped photo from her and she seemed even more beautiful than in the sites stock photos of her. I intend to send some flowers to her on valentines day so I can see her recieving flowers as you suggested.

I have searched extensively on other sites for her, but she is only on anastasia. She even turned off her profile so no one else could write to her apart from me. Surely there must be some genuine girls on this site?

Oh and by the way it was me that first contacted her. So I never recieved a spec letter from her.

Posted by: AkMike

Send her a card via post and tell her to open a mail.ru account to get rid of the broker.. Get her phone number and a translator if needed.. But bypass the broker

Posted by: BluesTraveler

If you have her home address, I would suggest using a flower delivery service like
http://russianflora.com/ or http://www.russianservice.com/ both are very reputable. You can add a note/card to the flowers and in the note send your email address and ask her to contact you directly. This way you will know if she is for real.

I am sure there are plenty of real women on the site, just difficult to find them through all the clutter.

Posted by: vista900

Well she is Ukrainian so Im not sure if those flower delivery companies will deliver that far. I am sending a letter to her home address this week in which I will include my contact details. She says she does not have internet access in her house, so sends her emails from her local anastsia branch where they also help her with translation.

We are both at the begining stages of learning each others langauges so I am quite happy to communicate through letters for the time being.

I use these all the time in Ukraine, they will also take a picture for you and their prices are reasonable.

Welcome Vista to the RMP

Click on some of the links below about Anastasia,

Is the entire Anastasia site a scam?

and more for you.....

http://www.russianmeetingplace.com/...91&postcount=31

http://www.russianmeetingplace.com/...light=anastasia

http://www.russianmeetingplace.com/...light=anastasia

These are just a few of the threads on here, search and you will find loads more, non that I am aware of are positive! they are the last agency I would use, try Elenas Models or 1st International or one that you can communicate directly with the ladies, not one where you have to go through their site to email and contact them.

If you can communicate directly with the less interferance from outsiders, third parties and agencies you will have.

Get away from Anastasia as quickly and as cheaply as you can, then if yolu find out the one you are writing to is a scam, start your search for real

Goodluck
Chris

PS some of the above links are not working at the moment, no idea why they worked OK last time I checked??? they may come back on again.

He's been warned Chrismc. Sometimes they have to learn the hard way.

yep it couldn't be any clearer

Posted by: vista900

Thanks for all of the advice so far. I do take your warnings on board and I fully intend on getting away from anastasia when the time is appropriate. This is the only site she is on and Im not really interested in any other girl.

Yeah I know I sound as though Im falling into their trap but I'm playing things cool and listening to all that is being said on here.

Ooops! Forgot the link for flower delivery

www.flowers-to-russia.com

Yes, most of these girls sign a contract saying they will not put a profile on any other site.

I was going to use that service for flowers on Valentine's day until they jacked up the prices just for Valentines day when all the other florists kept theirs at the same price.

I've not looked for Valentines yet, will do this weekend, but I have a discount voucher for them, so not as bad, but I may save that for Int Womens Day as I was going to send her mum some too.

If they have jacked up their prices for Valentines I will use another, there are plenty around.

Posted by: vista900

Ok so I'm sending her a letter through the post tommorow. I recieved her address in english. My question is what happens when it gets to Ukraine? Will the postal workers be able to understand the address or does it get translated as it enters their system?

It may sound like a nieve question but I have never posted to a foreign speaking country before.

Posted by: BluesTraveler

Slim chance it will ever arrive to its final destination unless the postal address is written in Cyrillic letters. what are the odds that the local postal employee can read English well enough to translate the address?

I would use a translation program to convert from Latin to Cyrillic letters.

Again the easiest way is to send her flowers, put your email address in the note that accompanies the flowers. Then she will know you are serious. Tthe flower services have offices in Ukraine.

Posted by: Chrismc

Get her to convert it for you into Ukrainian/Russian (Ukrainian if it is West Ukraine) then put both addresses on the letter, bear in mind, that parcels and packages are not usually a problem going to Ukraine, letters on their own have a habit of going missing.

I always send mine signed for on delivery, don't have a problem if I do that, but if I send just a letter by standard post it goes AWOL.

Hi, I am new from Australia (Oz) and have something to say about Anastasia Web (AW), I am a member on their site. I got 5 personal postal addresses from 5 ladies which I really like because I believe at least one may genuinely come through for me. And I want to get away from the website. I gather it's better to increase one's chances. Plus the distance from Oz to Ukraine is great. But guess what, one month after the first 3 letters which contained my personal email address for their reply - no response. They were addressed in English and just normal mail. I wanted to take the risk. I went back to AW and through them sent 2 letters to 2 of the first 3 ladies and one replied saying she was on holiday in the Carpathions, but she did get my letter. Remember this letter was addressed in English and sent by normal mail. I think the bit about the holiday was ********, how convenient, just when I'm expecting a reply to my personal email to get away from the agency. But..But..But, I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt. It seems to me so far they are willing to communicate via AW only. Now that WOULD be a rip off. I'm in 2 minds, not sure what to do next. There is at least one lady there I do not want to lose. The flowers for Valentine sounds good, should I try it? Also how do they go about getting a mail.ru account?

Posted by: GentleGiant

Mate, I sent letters to 4 women from AW when I was young and naive, (3 years ago); not telling the women that i had sent them; after 2 months none of them had commented on receiving anything, so I sent a 2nd batch; also without comment from anyone.
These letters were sent with English and Russian typed address's in B5 business envelopes.
I personally dont think there are ANY real women using the place; anyone you write to or talk to is being paid to do so.
Run away now and try a legit site like bride.ru, svetlana's of kyrgyzstan or elenas.

opps! wrong thread!!!

Thats what happens when you have too many tabs open and both man flu and the sickness bug!!!

Well I am to late for your letter (don't come her much any more) but it is fine to send it in English (if you use a online translator to change it to Russian it often will come out wrong)

I have sent many 100's of letters and postcards to the orphanages in the Ukraine and I would say 99% of them arrived with no problems. I have also sent all my letters to Russia and Belarus in English and none of them have ever been lost.

All the Flower companies in Russia and the Ukraine charge a extra fee for deliver on Valentine's day and even more so on Women’s day. Normally if you get it delivered 3-5 days before the holiday they then will not charge the extra fee or only about 1/2 of it.

What you do next is is find a different website like:

www.freepersonals.ru
www.allsinglerussiangirls.com
www.elenasmodels.com

No, you should not try the flowers. Move on, there are real women out there looking for a real relationship and they are just as beautiful and nice as the the girls on AW.

Welcome and good luck Moe.

Posted by: Moe123

If www.freepersonals.ru is so good why do they have Anastasia International advertised on their site? Anastasia International is Anastasia Web.

Posted by: BluesTraveler

Because the site is "free" and someone has to pay the bills.

Hello again I am new to RMP but not to the adventures of finding a RW/UW.
When I say that I am using AnastasiaWeb I know all of you are going to say RUN FOR THE HILLS and then next WHAT AN IDIOT!!!
I have travelled twice to Russia and both woman I met was through AnastasiaWeb (AW), I have tried Elena's and I have tried various "free" sites none were the one's mentioned here. In my experience I spent more money with "Elena's" in 3 months than I have in 1 year with AW and with the free sites 99 out of 100 letters were from scammer's and I just got plain sick and tired of trying to weed out all the crap, and just began to feel every letter was a from a scammer and just gave up with the free sites.

I will say that I am a computer dummy and would love to learn this how to do this "SKYPE" I have a computer translation program on my computer "PROMT" but when getting the woman off of AW and using a computer translation program is when everything went to "hell in a handbasket" and why I feel I am still searching today (but this is a story for another time)

I know of the horror stories about AW most feel only 30% of these women are real (if that) and that they generate letters the woman are not aware of, that it costs to read or send every letter (with that knowledge just do not read the majority) and like I said in my experience even with this it has been much less expensive than "Elena's"

I truly would like to learn and know how you guys do with the free sites and the generic computer translations?
We are all individuals and we all will never completely agree on everything, with that said, I am an man that will listen from advice and try very hard to learn from it and with this knowledge fit it in with the person I am.
I look for any and all help
I fear that my deffiency with a computer will hamper some of my efforts

Personally when writing to a woman whose English skills are limited I do the following.
1. Write the letter in English.
2. Scan the letter removing all idiomatic phrases, double entendres, sarcasm, colloquialisms, correct all spelling and grammatical mistakes.
3. Open 2 windows one to translate from English to Russian, the other to translate from Russian to English.
4. Copy my letter in the first window, take the Russian translation and copy it to the second window.
5. Review the English results and see if they are very close to what I was trying to say, make changes in the original letter as needed - rinse / repeat; rinse / repeat...
6. Email the letter with the Russian and the English. Make sure your and her email program can send and receive Cyrillic letters. i.e. first send the letter to yourself and make sure you can read it with no problems.

Computer translation is not perfect, but if you keep your sentences short and to the point you should be ok. A great example of a really tough question to translate, and only saw one program ever do it correctly. "What was your favorite date?"

One suggestion about AWeb. If you continue to use them for translation services, do verify the girl is real as quickly as possible. Get a home address and send her some flowers, putting your email address and mobile phone number on the card. Get a phone number and have a quick conversation with her. Hate to see someone get strung along.

I have prompt as well, and I do what Bluestraveler does, back translate and change the wording until it makes sense. Done this with Russian,Ukrainian, Kyrgyzstan and Chinese women without any real problems.

Chillidog, I am surprised you had so many scammers write to you; I have used free sites like bride.ru and not encountered a single one; perhaps you need to look at what you are saying in your profile to put off real women and attract the scammers.
Other than a couple who were quickly booted by Elenas, all the scammers I have come across have been on non FSU sites; a couple have turned up on KissCafe, but again, they are very quick to boot them off.

Posted by: GoingToRussia

I met my first girl through Elena's and my fiancee through freepersonals. Never had a scammer from either site, of course I ignored all letters I received from woman more then 15 years younger then myself.

This is the best free/on-line translator I could find. http://www.translation.paralink.com/. Be sure to check the "Back translation" box.

Google's translation tools work well too. Don't really know how it compares but my girlfriend said it wasn't too bad when I translated some text...

Hello BT
the problem I ran into (and why I beleive I am still looking) was not in the letters I sent I did basiclly everything you stated and my letters to my #1 lady where understandable, the problem I ran into was in translation of her letters to me.
There were many times big portions of her letter could not be translated or certain words would not translate, maybe mis-spelled or her Russian was slightly different than Prompt's. What began to happen is we had met fallen in love and now were starting to truly discuss important matters in life. We talked on the phone usually every weekend but my Russian is very poor (truly trying to learn) her English is better but still deffecent to discuss important matters properly. So what started to develope was I would ask sometimes several times in the course of various letters the same question. Also trying to explain the translation difficulty, which on her end with my letters she was not having any problems and could not understand why I was if she wasn't. Ultimately she started to write "I have already answered these questions in the past, Do you start to doubt my word? or do you start to doubt your relationship with me?" "I will not again answer these questions!" So what happened and I beleive as other's have found with RW once the seed of doubt is planted in their pretty brains you will never eliminate it and eventually I received a "dear Ivan" letter after already paying an Immigration Attorny the fees for a K1 visa for her and her 13 year old son. So I am truly reluctant to go that route again in using personal e-mail to correspond unless her knowledge of english is excellent, and I do not want to begin limiting by "pool of woman" to just those with excellent English

Posted by: GoingToRussia

There are many ways to solve this problem.

1. Each of you use the same on-line translator, be sure to use the back translation. If something doesn't sound right or doesn't translate then write it again using different words. This can be boring and teedious so I don't recomend unless you will be using it for a few sentenses.

2. Use a translator. I Lena has a translation service on this board. You can send her a private message. I know she is busy and may not do this but maybe she can suggest someone.

3. The agency you use sometimes has a translation service or an on-line translator you can both use like www.allsinglerussiangirls.com.

4. I use to say: "I don't understand these words" or "These words do not translate". Then I would attach the words she sent and ask for her to write again. never had a problem.

5. Maybe post on this board if someone's wife or fiancee is interested in translating your e-mails to and from her, for a price of course. I can ask my fiancee if you like.
