I married a woman from Moscow and now am in the K-3 visa process. In my previous marriage I was not employed as my ex was an heir.We traveled alot so for me to work was not in the picture.I had no idea I would meet a woman and fall in love before I was back in the work force. My lawyers are now telling me that I may need a co-sponsor to be able to get her here mainly because I show no means to support her and her son.I have a settlement coming due from the divorce which will help make us comfortable while I return to work but they say what's in the bank is not what they look at.Has anyone had or heard of a situation similar to this? Or even had a co-sponsor??Thanks

IIRC a co-sponsor can be used if they're willing to jump thru the hoops and sign their financial life away for you.I'll bet that they'll need substanial income and assets too. There'll be alot of extra paperwork involved I'd guess.
I didn't go this route and I don't recall that anyone here went this way.

Yes this is true, you will need a co-sponcer or show some sort of income through a business or rental property. Any sort of recuring income will do. When you sign the K-3/I-864, you are saying you will support her 100% when she arrives. It is like co-signing a loan. Our country doesn't want immigrants that can't support thenmelves. If you can't support them or find someone that will, then she can't arrive.

Did you file an income tax last year or will you file this year? This can possibly be proof of a re-ocuring income.

Good luck with this!
