OK, I give up, What is that?

Posted by: AkMike

LOL, That's a stack of meat on a skewer that they cut from for sandwiches..
I forget the name.

Posted by: GentleGiant

kebab; usually the leg cut off some poor girl called Donna; at least thats what the rumour is.
Not many girls round here called Donna, I dont know if thats because they've all been eaten or what.

Posted by: AkMike

Yup, Kebab! I saw that a fair amount when I was traveling on the continent. Pretty tasty but I wasn't too sure of the type of meat. Donna is pretty good!

Posted by: GentleGiant

The extra flavouring is some kind of fungus that only grows on the greasy walls of a chip shop or kebab house; related to athletes foot I believe.

Posted by: AkMike

Aww that just means you need more Tabasco sauce! The fungus adds flavor.

well

Great pic.

kekab is pressed ox meat. If its a bad supplier, it can even be cow eyes and what else left over from butchering some ox.

And about a turkish airliner. (I dont know if the mentioned one) Last summer a student of mine flew over the mediterean ocean and the engines at the plane shut down. The plane fall alot, but fortunately they did start. Because of this mishap, he is not to afraif of flying and in marts when we go to Madrid, he stay home.

Posted by: GentleGiant

What do you mean "bad supplier" !! those are the best bits they put in!!!

Posted by: Jutman

ok.

My student wanna puik when they here it. And of them has an uncle who make them. He dont use the eyes.

And actually, there is a russian version of kebab but here its more like chopped meat, there is pressed.

Posted by: GentleGiant

you missed out ears and eyelids amongst the other delicacies they add. Mmmmmm!!!

(Of course I dont eat them!! What do you think I am?? Stupid!!??!!)

Mind you; I have worked in the packaging/Processing industry, and seen what goes into a lot of things, if I didnt have a strong stomach I would have to live on vitamin pills and filtered water; you would not BELEIVE what can turn up in the water from your tap!!!

Posted by: Jutman

oh yes.

Better NOT to know how industrial foods are made. I sometimes tease my students to tell about how a industrial cake is made.

My bro-in-law used to work in a candy factory and he has never, ever since eat anything from that plant.

That would have been my next guess, the leg from someone, maybe that is how they deal with the homeless people over there....

Posted by: AkMike

I've worked in the fishing industry and could say things about it also.
But, it tasted good before I knew about it and it tasted good after I knew the details..

I just didn't think about it!

Of course, if you want to be really grossed out....
I walked into a store and spotted a sofa with a label that read "Man made leather"
I wondered why people are always moaning about immigrants, but I rarely actually see one.............

I gotta say i actually am very partial to a kabab after working at the club.Another thing i need to stop to lose weight.

Posted by: GentleGiant

According to legend ( I really must stop hanging around with women so much), the calories dont count if you are running as you eat.

Posted by: JamesB

Got a question about this food.........the Turks serve both "Shwaerma" and "Doner Kebab"........what is the difference? Or is it different names for the same thing?

Incidentally, Schwaerma is very popular in Ukraine, especially in Crimea.

Posted by: GentleGiant

I THINK doner is lamb and "Schwaerma sounds porkish.

I really dont eat the stuff, so I cannot be sure.

Tried googling for it??

The land of Kosheri and Schwaerma. Kosheri is a traditional dish that consists of pasta, beans, chic peas, lentils and friend onions. This it topped with a tomatoe sauce and sometimes a garlic oil sauce as well. It is quite tasty and very filling. It is also very cheap and a medium bowl costs about 0.50$. Schwaerma is shaved meat in a large pita or an Arabic bread. It costs 0.20-1.00$. Breakfasts throughout the middle east consists of bread, bread and more bread. You get multiple types of rolls, breads, cakes etc. Usually there is a boiled egg and a piece of processed cheese. Sometimes you get jam for the bread, sometimes you get butter.
Everything in Egypt is very cheap. Cab rides are around a dollar to go anywhere within Cairo.
