Well I guess as a new member I have to post here first. I am interested in pursuing a relationship with a Russian/Ukrainian woman, but at this time really only want to limit myself to those who are are living in the U.S. or possibly Canada.

Can anyone tell me which websites have a good number of ladies already in N. America?

Good Luck! The majority who are looking are former Greencard Gals. I can hook you up with an FSU woman who has a clientel of ladies from the FSU looking for millionaires! 1/2 waited it out and 1/2 claimed domestic violence!

All the good FSU are already taken here, if you want a good one, go over there and find your own and bring them over here. If they are still here, something has happend or they are looking for something the average person cannot provide.

I think you are being a little harsh on the poor man.

Perhaps he is not brave enough to travel there, it is a bit scary.

Elena's has a few listed as living in the states, you can pick the country using the search function; I don't know of any other site that allows you to search this way, but bride.ru has turned up a few living outside the FSU, I saw one in Italy and another in Spain this week.

Be warned though, EVERY supposed Russian or FSU woman that contacted me through a non FSU site turned out to be scamming; if you contact one living in the US, you need to find out why she is there and what happened.
There are some who did not stay with the man who brought them over because he was an *******, but as stated above, some got here as GCG's.
If the relationship fails, most want to go home.

Welcome to the forum Icarus ... don't fly too close to the sun!

Maybe this has something to do with finding a woman from the Former Soviet Union (FSU), you don't like to fly? Or maybe you don't have the cash to finance an overseas trip. Or maybe it is difficult for you to fly because of a handycap.

If it is because you are handycap, you can probably get a wavier on meeting first before a visa. In other words, you can bring her here on a fiancee visa without meeting her. The catch is, if it doesn't work out, you have to wait 2 years before getting another fiancee visa. Americans get 2 fiancee visas within a 10 year period.

If it's finances, then you should NOT be looking for a woman from the FSU. This is an expensive way to find a bride ... before you meet (plane ticket, hotel, food, gifts) during your "dating" ($500 for a fiancee visa, communication, possibly more travel, send flowers), and after she arrives ($1500 in forms, new clothes for her, fixing up the house).

If you're afraid to fly well you can't meet anyone and you can't get a wavier for fear of flying. If you can take a short flight, you can get your girl to Jamaca and meet there, they do not require a visa for her but she must "check in" when she arrives. That's about the shortest flight I can think of.

Hi, You can probably gather that most of the guys here including myself have gone through the Challenge and it is a challenge to actually make contact and then meet an fsu woman in their homeland.

We have been through the filtering process of finding the right girl and then the long and sometime difficult time of staying in contact and getting an idea of where things stand between you.

All this is quite an emotional rollercoaster of sometimes missed calls and gaps between calls and its quite wearing.

Next its the expense of arranging to meet and getting the documents together and gathering a huge amount of information.

What im trying to say is that although we have all been through this , during that time we have got an idea of the person we are dealing with and for some it can be the start of a new life.

I thinkn if meeting the right person is a priority then you should go the whole hog and go to russia.
Most of the guys on this forum are normal guys who make sacrifices to find the love of there life and im sure they will say that it was worth every penny.

There is no easy or cheap way to do this.

Wow, thanks for the responses guys. I actually didn't expect but 1 or 2. Don't worry Gentlegiant. I've got thick skin but I appreciate the support.

I have several reasons for seeking out ladies in N. America actually. Most importantly, I'm not ready to give up on western women just yet. I know by and large they are less traditional than Russian gals, but let's face it: the same could be said for western men. Having a sensitive side is all well and good (I'm a recovering 'nice guy' myself), but somehow we've been so fooled into behaving like sappy wuss bags that we've forgotten what it's like to be a man. (ala James Blunt, John Mayer and that Powter creep) I've heard from a few foreigners that our cultural experiences from the 60's pretty well screwed our male-female relations. Maybe they are right to a degree.

I've had a couple of serious cross-cultural relationships in the past and know how complex and trying they can be at times. Communication can be very tricky, even when you live in the same city and see the person on a regular basis. I'm also a big believer in the (albeit controversial) rule that you really don't know your girlfriend/better half until you've been around her for about 2 years and vice verse.

Thus, at this point it would be hard to reconcile all of this with the idea of going abroad to bring someone home with whom I've spent maybe a few weeks of time at the most.

James I think you hit the nail on the head by mentioning priority. I've just recently attained my long-term goal of becoming an attorney- finally! Right now my priority is pretty much building my career. Naturally I wouldn't mind some female company, but finding it by traveling abroad is probably out of the question for the time being even though my income is finally halfway decent now. (Humorous side note James: for a time in law school I actually worked as a doorman/bouncer to make ends meet- seems that most of our sodden customers were my classmates. I bet they probably drink even more now that they're in practice)

Inlove- yeah that kinda makes sense. I doubt they have an "Eastern European" ethnicity search option, but I suppose I could try to find the Russian speakers. I've seen Elenasmodels. It looks like a well-run site although kind of $$$ for a guy who just wants to search for ladies in N. America.

It's great to have a site like this to put things in perspective though . I imagine even those of us who don't end up with Russian wives still benefit a helluva lot from the experiences and perspectives brought here.

In your situation I would do a keyword search for "russian" on a general dating site. Something is bound to come up. Although I have to be honest with you, russian women living in the US in general do not want to be treated differently just because they are russian. Basically, the idea is that somebody should be interested in you as a person, not because of your ethnicity, so they might not advertise the fact that they are russian in profiles. But it is a place to start.
