Will RW be interested in someone who is partially deaf?

As it says on the title.

I am profoundly deaf, but with my cochlear implant & hearing aid, I can hear quite a lot, but not everything. Lip-reading is easy for me, and I can probably understand about 40-50% of spoken words without lip-reading.

My speech is just as good as anyone else, and anyone conversing with me in a small group or one-on-one will wonder how is it I am deaf.

Sadly, my limitations include communicating over the phone, texting is no problem, but in the world of finding a RW, I'm wondering if it's a significant barrier to overcome?

Yes of course it is possible. Once you find someone you are interested in, tell her about this. Explain that you look and sound normal but you have a hard time hearing.

Good luck and enjoy.

Thats an easy problem for a RW to overcome, I have been married 3 times, talk about a problem trying to find the right woman to see past.

An acquittance's Brother is 100% deaf, and he was able to find a woman from Belarus. Although I am pretty sure the introduction was made through a website / agency that aids people who are deaf. In other words, she knew from the get go that he was deaf.

I would be upfront about it, and you might want some help in translating a description of your limitations into Russian. If she knows upfront but is still willing to take with you, it will be better. Surprising it on her after a few months, she may think you were deceiving her.

Since 99% of all initial communication is done through emails, I don't think there is any disadvantage there. And if she did want to talk on the phone, it could be possible to use a 3rd party to do the translation.

Always the disclaimer is...women from the FSU are like any other women on the planet. If you can provide them with those things, you can find someone. But if you are thinking they are desperate, dying to leave FSU, then you will be sorely disappointed.

I'm always upfront, and I value honesty. After all, I like to treat others the same as I wish to be treated myself!

Bergy, just wondering....do you understand Russian? Just curious, as it might be a factor in all this.....

When I was in college, we had a whole floor of our dorm which was only for people who were deaf. It didn't stop any socializing whatsoever, as there were many cute girls Some of us learned sign language, some of the girls read lips, and some of us just wrote on a piece of paper what we wanted to say. If someone likes you, and they know up front, it shouldn't be any problem at all.
