The wonderful litigious world of the US of A and the evil scum of banking have collided, and the courts won.

If you traveled overseas between Feb 1, 1996 and Nov 30, 2006, and you used your credit card to make purchases you are entitled to a refund on the currency exchange fees. There are some online forms you need to fill out and there are a couple of different options but if you fill them out before March 31, 2008 you will get a refund of some sort. The minimum refund will be $25.00

My guess estimate on my refund will be about $50.00 ~ 1 hour of filling out forms to get $50.00 not bad.

Hmmmmm, I thought you had to get in on that quite awhile back. I did and just got my forms in the mail to file my claim.

Yes I got a form too but I haven't looked at it. How can you figure out how much you get back?

The sad thing about these class action suits, is yes, the companies do get dinged for wrongdoing.....but the lawywers make a killing!! It's all about themselves, and not about us.

You will get 1% of what you actually spent. Or if you don't know they will use an average daily spend based on which country you visited. Luckily I am crazy about keeping records, (All stored on my computer) and I have had the same Visa card forever, so I was able to total up the spending.

If you don't the amount you spent ~ which 99% of people don't, then it is best to use the option of listing what countries you visited and how many days you were there.

It is true that the lawyers will be getting a BIG chunk. They will get about 75M, but for one hour's of work, why not get $25 or $50. If we don't file then the lawyers will get even more money.

I am gald to see your post about the refund on the currency exchange rates. I was a little concerned that it might a scam. I haven't had a chance to look for the details as I am in the middle of writing a term paper.

Well it can't be a scam, since you don't have to give them cc #'s, or SSN #. You do have to give your name and home address -- i.e. so they can send the check to you. This court case has been going on for so many years, I am amazed that they finally settled.

You can also choose to receive $25 instead of itemizing!
