I emailed Bingism a couple of weeks ago and have not had a reply, I will call him on the phone this weekend and see what he is up to, it has all gone very quiet over there

Posted by: azamuner

Hope everything is ok. It would be nice to hear from them.

Posted by: deccie

Ditto!

Posted by: GoingToRussia

No word from Mr. M. I talked to him not long before he left. He probably found his future wife and doesn't want to share his story! Or maybe he has many "on a string" and doesn't want to give away his secret. I'm sure he is fine and enjoying his new life!

I called Martyn today (Bingism) his mobile rang but he never answered, it was after he should have finished work, even if he was working on a Saturday. I sent him another email asking if all is OK and if he has heard from Randy.

If he responds I will let you know.

I hope MM won't be caught up win the change of Business Visa rules that has gone through in October.

it would really suck to move countries planning to work there for a few years only to find the Visa you have is no longer going to work for you.

I pm'ed Bing a month ago about this and he said he was going to see if he could contact mr mopar but hadn't got around to it yet. I suspect that may still be the case.

Posted by: AkMike

Thanks Chris. Now maybe we'll find out how our interpid travelers are doing in the far away lands full of lovely ladies.

Posted by: JamesB

Liuida flies to Siberia in 3 weeks.I will have her send the huskies looking for him.lol Im sure in this case no news is good news.

Only a Polar Bear can sniff out a Kanook.

Posted by: GoingToRussia

I sent out the Polar Bears to find Mr. Mopar ... they found him and he called.

He is doing well and enjoying teaching all the Russian beauties!

He took a computer with him but it died soon after he arrived. He tried the schools internet but couldn't log onto the RMP.

He got a used computer from someone that is upgrading. He wil get internet installed where he lives next week and should be back on line soon after.

So all is well and he is enjoying his adventure!

We should have sent out for Sargent Preston Of the Northwest Mounted Police. He and his faithful dog, King would have found the missing Canuk along time ago!

Now we can put out a Missing Person Report on Khashyar!

Murphy's Law. Bring a computer with you and of course it will die the minute you want to something important with it.

Posted by: Chrismc

I just heard from Bing too, he saays I can pass this on

It good to hear that he is alive and doing well! I am looking forward to hearing about his adventures!

Yes, it's good to hear that both are alive and well. Hopefully they will post when they get the chance to let us know how things are.

Posted by: GoingToRussia

Mr. M is more then alive and well. He sounded like he was having the time of his life. He said he will probably post next week.

Posted by: AkMike

He'd better get set to have a VERY LONG explaination about his travels and expieriences!

Posted by: GoingToRussia

I can hear him right now, " I'm sorry guys and I won't do it again"!

Posted by: Chrismc

I received an email from Bingsim today, with some pictures attached of his recent skiing trip and also of his new lady very nice too just thought I would pass that on, at least we now know one of the reasons why he has gone quiet lately, other things on his mind

Chris

I'm sorry guys and I won't do it again!

I would like to thank everyone for their concern about my well being.
It is nice to know I have friends out there that are genuine.

I had got my laptop repaired but they didn't do a very good job and I could not get on the internet with it.
I bought my friend Elena's old computer,it does not have much ram so it is running windows 98.I plan on getting more ram and loading XP.

LOL,thats a good one Mike.......

I wish I wasn't so shy. There was a really hot {well there all really hot here} Girl that kept looking at me tonight when I was at a reasturant and I was to shy to go over and talk to her.I have to get over my shyness or I will miss out on a lot of good women.

Randy

Posted by: AkMike

The best way to get over shyness is to talk to them! You can do it!
Use the chloroform afterwards!

I never met a shy Russian woman. I'm surprised she didn't come talk to you.

Posted by: AkMike

She was probably wondering who that geek was that dressed so funny..

Posted by: mistermopar

Last night before I had posted on here I was at the Grand Cafe for a coffe with one of the Russian/English teachers. The place is full of beautiful women all the time. There was one girl that kept looking at me,and she kept getting up and would walk past my table, but like an idiot I didn't and couldn't bring myself to say anything to her.

But at the same time I have to be very carefull. When they hear someone speaking English they asumme we have money and want you to buy their drinks and pay for their meal, and then they say good night and leave.

Randy

I'm sure one of these days you will muster the courage! Russian winter can get cold and lonely!

Randy, it is good to see you posting again!
I am sorry but I forgot where in Russia you are teaching (was it Volgograd?). I might suggest that you try using My Space to meet poeple in Russia. I found invaluable to meet people in Russia. Are studying the Russian language while you are in Russia? If so, mention this fact. You will get tons of women willing to help you.
I am very shy person too but I met many Russian women during my month in Russia by communicating first by My Space with all of obvious caveats concerning dating on the Internet.
I am looking forward to hearing about your experience teaching English in Russia. Several of my acquaintinces in Russia have suggested I teach English there as a way to get better acquainted with the Russian language and culture.

Posted by: mistermopar

Hey GTR,well lonely but not cold, the weather here is pretty good compared to Canada. But I'm sure it will change.

Hey disculmawsu, yes I am in Volgograd.
I am trying to learn some Russian...on my own and with the help of some friends at the school.I am not taking classes for Russian.

Thanks..I will take alook at my space.

Randy

Thanks DC,its nice to be back.
Makes me forget all of the things I am missing back home.....like my car and dog.

Hey Randy,
Haveyou made it downstream to the Caspian Sea yet? Summers should be great bird watching at the beaches!
Tanya and I are going to be in Ukraine during April. Is there any chance you'll be around and wanting to visit Ukraine?

You sound a little defensive - you seem to be creating a reason not to talk with women. What you describe can and does happen - but look at the meal as just part of the cost of "doing business". Also, that happens everywhere so there is nothing exceptional about the experience. The money for the dinner is not wasted because you had an opportunity to practice dating Russian women. Secondly, you could have approached her as you left the cafe and suggest that you meet at museum or some cultural venue or suggest dinner the following evening at another cafe.
While others have suggested that Russian women will approach you, it is my opinion and experience that you need approach them. Many are afraid of being labelled as being "easy" if they approach man. Several women I met apologize for taking the inititive and assured me that were women of good character and were "serious".

No I am not trying to sound a little defencive. Please remember I am no longer making the money I did in Canada.Have to be careful on how I spend.
I have also been warned by other English teachers that have had similar experiances of women getting there meals payed for and then just leaving with no intention of wanting to get to know you.

I will try to find out more from some of my Russian friends here.

Very good advice from your friends Randy.

I think that's a very common play by women. Several of the guys on the project here have had Thai women do the same thing to them.

Thanks.

Many of the women think that all English speaking people are rich.Maany of my students think I am rich because I lived in Canada. Not true.
I have a credit card and a line of credit that I used, still had to find a way to pay them back.
Credit and loans in Russia is still in the begining stages, they have a long way to catch up to the dept westren people put them selves into.

Movies also play a roll in the missconception that we are all rich, some have a difficult time distinguishing fact from fiction.

Randy

It's all reletive Randy. Just remember it's still a cash and carry only set up there..
Compared to them you are a rich man but if you put them in their economy and you in yours it;s different. But your in their neck of the woods now.
Be safe and play nice.

I heard from Bingism again this morning, lots happening over in chilly (-20C) Ufa, but all good and he is really happy. Seems to be settled in for the long haul now

He is now living with 'J' and his mum has actually been out to visit him

I will ask him if I can pass on the rest of the information.

Chris
