As you can tell from the title, totally off topic.

I have been contacted by a Chinese lady through a "World Site"; my gut instincts tell me she is genuine; I think a scammer would know English!

I use this site to make friends, fun etc, so was a little suprised to get kisses sent from this attractive Chinese lady.

I have explained I am going to meet someone and after a few misunderstandings, she now understands I am taken.

Partly my fault, I thought she was looking for a friend, not a husband!!

Now I want to try and help her, the site she is using is not one I have found useful for romance; people are there for socializing not romance; so can anyone recommend a good Chinese dating site she can join.

I told her I would like her to keep me as a friend but she says that my RW would get upset if she knew I was writing to anyone else.

So I have sent her a few words of advice about internet dating ( mostly lifted from here

), and would like to guide her to a suitable site.

I don't think it has to be a Chinese Dating site - ElenasModels has women from all over the world.

Already asked, they say Russian women only, so I am assuming the "women from all over the world" are Russian ex-pats.

I know what you mean, there are profiles from US, France, Denmark that I have seen.

I have found a site called ChinaBrides, but know nothing about it other than it was the first "hit" when I googled.

When I was on MyForeignBride, a chinese woman contacted me. Very genuine. Very real. I wasn't looking for an asian woman but we instant messaged, emailed, and video and phone chatted on a regular basis. She grew on me quite a bit and told me one day that she thought I was the one, shut down her profile and talked only to me.

Then she had a devastating family issue come up and now she is torn about the whole dating thing because of what has happened in her family and not knowing if it is a good time to be leaving.

MyForeignBride has a lot of affliate sites, one devoted to chinese dating and they also have RussianEuro, which I have had some success with. She can list on anyone she pleases regardless of her nationality. However, be warned, these are introduction sites and as such they have LOTS of men simply looking for a good time or sex chatting.

Definitely lots of Russian ex-pats at Elena's. They even have a special section of the website dedicated to women from a particular geographic region. Women from the US - Women from the Ukraine - Women from Western Europe, Moldova, Central Asia, etc.

On the other hand I have seen women on Elena's who are asian and one woman who was black but lived in the Ukraine. So you don't have to be Russian to be listed on Elena's just someone who is residing in the FSU, which includes a lot of asian women.

I wrote to Elenas and "Russian only" is what the reply said, there are several FSU countries with oriental racial types, Tahmina is 1/2 tartar 1/2 Uzbek and looks quite oriental from some angles, equally, a Russian may have brought back a black wife from Africa during the days they were fomenting trouble down there.
I didnt see any blacks in Moscow when I was there, but it is a big country, and I saw just about every other racial type you could think of.

To keep things simple I will refer to this lady as "Z", it is the first letter of her name :-)

Z is not that conversant with internet dating, I have told her about using a special email address (Yahoo or Googlemail), to start conversations with. So that if she gets a nutter she can switch to a new account and not have him pestering her "Home" account.

I would like to get her set up on the Chinese equivalent of Elenas, where men go who are serious about marrying, and not just looking to chat; the site she is currently on is full of those already.

After all, it was only luck that I found Elenas, I dated one FSU girl; but before that I had dated several orientals living in the UK, but never thought to look for a suitable dating site.

As I said before, I have found one called Chinabrides, but dont want to join as it means using time I don't have to spare, and wasting the time of any women who write to me.

If she is Chinese but lives within the FSU she can sign up with Elena's. She will be in the regular database and also included in the special section, Women from the Central Asian Republics. It is the location that is the issue, not her nationality. Like I said, I have run across a number of Asian woman profiles on Elena's - where the section on race says Asian, not Russian - BUT they live within the FSU. It appears that nationality is only an issue when the woman resides outside of the FSU.

You might ask Elena's for a referral to a reputable Chinese marriage agency, but MyForeignBride, AsianEuro, ChineseLoveLinks and RussianEuro are all marriage sites not chat sites, but because they are not agencies they have their fair share of male non-serious types, on the other hand, so do the reputable marriage sites as a number of women have told me.

Sorry mate, been there and done that, the answer was "try Google", she is Chinese and IN China; city called Har-bin.
I will look at the sites as soon as I have finished watching Journeyman. :-)

Which is a good reminder she should put herself on several sites that are free as well as the chnlove agency site.

The chnlove site looks pretty good except I don't like the pay per mail system.

Well, what is your understanding of Russian? Can't a person of Asian or black racial origin living in Russia be Russian? From the profile, it seems to me you can be of any racial origin and that is why the profile is layed out as follows:

I don't like the pay per mail either,I been there,done that,just plain horrible...you can tell this girl to register with freepersonals.ru
it is free,it is mostly Russian woman(FSU)...but they also have asian woman on there as well,but she will have to have some one help her if she does not speak english,this is where i met my wife on freepersonals.ru......but she could not speak english,that is why many Chinese women feel more comfortable on these dating sites,they help write the letters for the women.Have this girl get a translation software...thats what me and the wife do.

She is writing from an internet cafe or college computer, not sure I understand her answer. I am using foxlingo and selecting several different translation sites becasue they dont always make sense. usually I can figure out what she is saying and send a reply, I always "back translate" first though.

I have sent her some translation site details, but she has not started using them yet, not able to read them?/?She is not computer literate.

She does have a good sense of humour though. I sent her the marriage site details and she asked if I had a chair she could stand on, to give me a thank you kiss. (she is tiny compared to me).
She did say she approached an agency before, and they wanted a lot of money from her.

I will look at freepersonals.ru and see what the language options are.

yeah,translators can be weird,i use two,when one sounds weird,i put it through the other,i then get the picture....i use the google translator,and also babelfish.And there are always a few sentences you just don't know what the hell she is saying..the translator don't know,and as if it has a mind of its own,spits out nonsense.

I use the same 2 sites mostly, although I also have promt, which I used for years before google and yahoo started translations.

The trouble with a lot of these site is , they have no option to display in Chinese; or if they do, it is hidden away where I cant find it; or, they are fronting for lots of agencies; several of them do not give you any idea how a woman may get her details posted.

Well being the curious sort of guy that I am, and thoroughly enjoying the experience I had with the Chinese lady I met on MyForeignBride, I placed a profile on chnlove.com. I have already received two letters of interest (they call them admiration letters which you are allowed to read for free) and I noticed that at the bottom of the letter it tells you what agency the lady is from. So your friend might want to scout around local marriage agencies that are a part of the chnlove network. Here are the two I know of:
