How can you tell a scam from 'reality'?

I will admit that i find it very hard to know if the girl i'm mailing to really exist.
There have been some scams tried at me and after a while you get 'protective'.
That on the other hand is not so good as it may make you sound almost surly
Any advice on this?

Hi Yoron, welcome to the forum! I find that when writing letters if you tell a little about yourself & ask some questions about her life & interests, see how she answers. Often scammers will avoid your questions & write back some "dreamy" letters, without real substance. One of the best ways is to call her up, even if her English is limited (hopefully yours is good!) because scammers will often not want to give out a phone #. There are also services that will deliver flowers (for New' Years, birthday, woman's day etc) and take a picture for you when delivered. At least then you know its a real girl, not "Fat Yuri" writing to you. Another option is offered by Lena (she is an administrator on this site), she can call the lady for a small fee, and find out about the girl for you. You can send her a "PM" (private message) to ask about this.

I usually insist on a web cam chat with the lady. I have had ladies give me excuse after excuse as to why I can not see them on cam, that just raises red flags for me. If she is sincere, she will get on cam for you. Even if she does not have a computer at home, E-Net cafe's are not that expensive, usually 1-2 dollars per hour, thats all you need to see her and be sure, and once she is there, call her on her cell phone to see if she answers it. I did that exact thing with the two women I am writing to just to be sure I was not wasting my time and money talking and writing to "fat Yuri". Just my 2 cents worth.

Don't concentrate on 1 woman. Write to many women then whittle it down to 1, and then go see her after communicating for at least 3 months. Some guys just go over and start looking or have a few women lined up before they go. All iedas work but I like the "know 1/visit 1" approach.

Think of your trip as an adventure or a vacation, not a way to meet your future wife. You will know if she is an honest woman or not just through her letters. Ask any questions you have in this forum or send an e-mail/private message to any member, I'm sure they will be helpful.

Another way to get someone who is truely searching for their other half is using a good website. Below are 3 sites you might want to check out.

www.freepersonals.ru
www.allsinglerussiangirls.com
www.elenasmodels.com

I've had good successess with all 3.

Good luck and ask questions!

I would disagree slightly with GTR on this... I am really glad that I had a "plan B" when I went over because the one I was writing too was just totally wrong for me. It costs me a bundle to shut down my business & fly over there for a few weeks, so if the girl was not a match I didn't want to feel that I was wasting my time. Just my opinion

Yes I always had a plan but it was to find a dating agency in the city I was visiting or finding a computer and get on-line to look on 1 of my favorite RW websites. Never used my back-up plan. I think it was because I got to know the girl very well and asked a lot of questions on this forum.

As I say, there are many ways to find a potential mate and they all work. It is a matter of opinion.
