O'Brien's Irish Pub(Kiev)

This is really a great place. Heard about this from Kiev Connections agency, which is close by. The exterior is not exactly what you would expect. It is painted green....but actually more pale than the typical Irish green. Also, the signs, oddly enough, are blue. But don't let that fool you.

Obviously, there are some Irish specialties. But there are many Russian and other European items on their menu. In fact, you can please just about everyone with something on the menu. The restaurant also has separate smoking and non-smoking sections.

I did order Kiev cutlet, which they were out of. But ordered some typical pub fare(appetizers and salad), which compares to most that I've had in other countries.

The waitress I had was very attentive and pleasant.

Is this place close to the Independance Square area? If not what area of town?
Thanks!

Hey Mike ~ O'Brien's is just up the street.

Cool! It'll be a must see when we head back there in the spring. Is it on the main street or one of the smaller ones that intersect? How far away?

the guys upstairs have no concept hot to run a bar....slow, taps are always too gassed up and constantly spewing too much foam, english skills are weak...but iverall it's an okay place to relax. the bar downstairs seems to be run more efficiently when i was in kiev for 9 weeks this summer....had a few good times though.

I wrote to my step son in Kiev this am, and he knows where it is but he's never been in there.

I didn't know the pub had multiple levels. What is upstairs and downstairs?

And "pub" might be a misnomer.......the place is more restaurant than pub.

Never saw any problems with the beer....but I guess that "downstairs" is where I was....
