Does anyone sense some nervouseness here

Putin,as always a man with more suprises than coco-the clowns magic box.....continues to rattle the sabre.
I am a little puzzled over the assasination attempts suggested during his visit to Iran.....one thing is certain any assasination is unlikely to have been ordered by the Iran heirachy.!

While I am both concerned and not concerned about Putin's activities in Iran.
First, since the time of tsars, Russia has sought to expand it influence in Iran, India and Afghanistan. Indeed, one of the reasons Britian failed to defend Finland in the Winter War was it was afraid that Soviet Union would use their support as pretext in stir nationalist sentiment in India and Iran.
Second, the Russians has always sought find cracks in Western dipolemacy and to exploit them to their advantage. The current administration doesn't seem to understand this aspect of Russian national character. I find this very surprising since Dr. Rice made a name for herself as Cold War specialist.
Of course, I am concerned about the US being unable to deal in an effective and intelligent manner with Iran - Iran needs to be rehabilated and used brought into our sphere of influence.
I am not worried about Iran being invaded - the Russian would not stand for it and the US is not prepared to take on the Irans alone.
