There seems to be a time lag with posts showing up. Does each post now get screened by a mod? How long til it appears on screen? It works normal in this section but I posted several times last night and those replies still are MIA.
Thanks

Posted by: French_Misha

To be honest, this will probably be the last nail in the coffin of this forum.

Also, add the behavior of the moderators themselves. This is the reply that I got from a "moderator":

"Frenchy, do you ever have a positive thought? Can you deliver a good thought or provide support?"

Is this appropriate for a moderator? Is this how you encourage discussion by insulting members? I posted two posts that will be "reviewed" by this same moderator. Odds are pretty good that they will be censored and will never appear given his attitude.

If this is the role of the moderators, then I can only say goodbye!

Your posts will not be opput into a moderation que. This thread is only restricting people with less than 3 posts, after there 3rd post, that member will have the ability to post in the general forum.

This is not an act of censorship, is in an act to try and control spam

Mike, Yes you posted 2 posts last night in response to some test posts I was doing to make sure the settings were working. I created another user waiting!!!, and posted to make sure it would allow me to access the general forum after the 3rd post. After the test and we saw that the settings were correct, I went back and deleted my posts and garbeled threads that I did, during the testing you responded to 2 of my posts, these threads I created were deleted after we finished the test.

We are all trying to make this a better forum. None of the current members posts are being put into a special que to be moderated, your post will appear as they always have. This new feature is specifically geared towards members with less than 3 posts.

As always we are open to new suggestions and options.

The reason I asked the question was because many times I asked you to be supportive of a member and you continued to only badgered and upset him. You were acting like a certain member that constantly repeats and expresses his opinion. I was merely trying to stop your treatment of upsetting another member and I see I finally got my point across to you ... or maybe I didn't?

Perhaps it would have been better to PM you instead of posting it in a public forum which has upset you.

Hey LF you're up with chickens this morning. Maybe that isn't a phrase in Sunny California. The only chickens you see out there are in the frozen food section!

How's it goin'? Are you hanging in there? I know missing your girl coming back from the first trip can be tough.

I didn't know they get the McNuggets up this early...
I'm an early riser... at sunrise I like to go out on the balcony and crow! Really inspires my neighbors!! LOL

Thanks for asking - I'm doing alright. I'm mostly decompressed and my head is pretty clear now.
We're hammering (read that 'she's the hammer and I'm the nail') out some things regarding the challenge we face. I'm not sure where it's going to end up, but my mind is prepared to face the potential outcomes, good or bad. I don't know of any way to prepare my heart, though.

Welcome to the RMP Ragdoll!
I know there is a huge amount of information here, overwhelming perhaps.
Take your time, peruse at leisure and ask questions.
You'll find as I did, that by and large these are some of the friendliest and most helpful people on the net... with no hidden agendas.
Tell us more about yourself and what has sparked your interest in FSU? Not just religious symbology and ikons, I trust...

I am also from Michigan, "Kellogg City" to be exact! Yes, there are a lot of "flakes" in my town!

Hello,
If I was to take language lessons does it make a differance if it is Russian or Ukranian if I was interested in a woman from the Ukrane? Thanks for any help.

Posted by: GoingToRussia

The languages are different but I've been told very similar. If your girl is from Ukraine then I would study Ukraine.

I learned some Russian because Russia and in Eastern Ukraine they speak mainly Russian, however, for this last trip I had to learn some Ukrainian, although my lady speaks three languages fluently, she and her family prefer to speak Ukrainian at home.

So I started learning Ukrainian a month or so ago and picked up a few phrases which I was able to use this trip.

However, mine and her favourite phrase turned out to be 'Ya lublue tebe' one I started to use quite a lot

.

Posted by: azamuner

In places like Odessa they speak mostly Russian. I am told that the languages are about 50% the same but Ukrainian speakers can often understand the majority of Russian words.

I'd go Russian myself, not to mention it's easier to find books, etc.

Is it easier for a woman from the Ukrain to come america than from Russia?

No. Just as difficult as a Russian - maybe more difficult if she has kids.

Posted by: GoingToRussia

Hello SunnyC and welcome to the Russian Meeting Place (RMP).

Any country of the Former Soviet Union (FSU) is the same as far as getting a visa. I am currently etting a fiancee visa for a woman and her son who is from Moldova.

LOL ya thats a good phrase to remember.

I think i would learn Russian as this is what everybody speaks hear in my wifes " circle".
SOme are from Moldova, some Ukraine, some Russia but all of them know Paruski.

I am taking russian lessons. This is my 3rd quarter and i must say that they have helped tons. I can read Russian now and speak Russian but I am not fluent by any means. If i took these classes beforte i went to Russia , WOW, it would of been so much more helpful there. I highly recommend taking classes if you can. Its also fun to learn another language other than Spanish, lol.

Welcome RagDoll & SunnyC! In answer to your question sunny, it is important to know WHERE in Ukraine your girl comes from! In Eastern Ukraine, the Crimea & the city of Odessa - Russian is the dominant language, while in western Ukraine & Kiev it will be Ukrainian. I would advise you to try to learn Russian first, because it is like the "common Language" between the former Soviet Union (FSU) and will be understood everywhere, in Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Latvia etc. If you learn only Ukrainian you might have trouble being understood by Russian-speakers

Goodluck.

As earlier post, not much difference for visa's from different countries over there. However, you should know that you MUST go over to meet the girl first, you will not get a visa for her as fiance without a face to face meeting, a visitor's visa will likely be denied as well.

If you don't know about this, the # 1 scam is for a beautiful girl to write you, then ask for $1500 or so to pay her "special contact" for a plane ticket & visitor's visa. After you send the money !Surprise! she does not show up. Remember it is YOU that should apply for her visa, the US government wants to know that YOU will be responsible for her tickets, living expenses etc.

Just to make it clear about language.
Any countries (former republics) of the former USSR speak Russian.
Though some nationalists pretend they do not understand Russian ....
I spoke to young people from Poland even they remembered some Russian as they had studied it in primary school.
So if that Ukranian girl is older than 15 y.o. she definitely speaks Russian.

Hi Folks, I'm a new member of RMP, though I've been scanning through the posts for a couple of years. Now that I'm planning to move to Sevastopol, Ukraine, next year, I've gotten lots more serious about seeking and sharing information about Russian women, Russian travel, Russian culture, etc.

Posted by: freebird

Hi PHS, & welcome! I hope you find more interesting info. I really liked Sevastopol, in fact all of the southern Crimea is very beautiful. Are you planning to work there?

Posted by: GoingToRussia

Welcome PHS!

Please share any knowledge or ask any questions you might have. There are a lot of people that have been to the Crimeian area. I myself have visited the East (Russia) and West (Bulgaria) coasts of the Black Sea. Both are very nice and it is rather simple for a FSU woman to get a visa to Bulgaria if you want to experience different scenery and culture.

Take care and gook luck with your journey!

Posted by: phs102090@aol.c

Hi Freebird,
I'm real new to this "forum" form of communicating, but I'm kind of impressed so far that I get to touch base with others with similar intrests to my own without having to hunt them down. Thanks for the welcome, and your impression of Sevastopol. Yes, I will be working there. I have a very close connection with a language school there, and will be teaching advanced level English classes. Right now I am in my second month of Russian lessons, and am learning quite a bit. I do have some experience with the Russian Agencies, and will add the following possible post I'd like to send to RMP. It will tell you a bit about my own experience as well as an issue we all face that is dear to my heart.... It's kind of long, but let me know what you think:

BREAK DOWN THE LANGUAGE BARRIER

Having had a variety of experiences in the “Russian Women” dating adventure (One scam that lasted 11 months and cost about $1500 in agency fees, and a wonderful 2 year relationship with a woman in Kazakhstan with whom I visited in Turkey once, and two visits to her home country, but she was not prepared to move to the US), I’m a true believer in this means of possibly meeting your future partner.

The biggest obstacle I’ve seen, however, is the language barrier. Despite what the agencies say, the chance of finding a beautiful Russian Lady who is comfortable and capable at speaking English is very rare.

So, what is the solution? A translator of your emails you must pay and trust with your attempts at written intimacy? A Russian/English translation device that can often garble what you’re trying to say or understand? The old fashioned Russian/English dictionary that can take hours to use to say the simplest things?
Or are you really ready to commit to learning the Russian language and to your lady’s learning English?

IN THE LONG RUN IT COULD BE THE BEST INVESTMENT OF TIME AND MONEY YOU’VE EVER MADE.

Recently, through a close friendship with a couple here in San Diego (he is American… She is Russian, from Ukraine, and in fact is now my own Russian teacher), I have become connected with The Meridian Language Center, a very successful Language School located in Sevastopol, Ukraine. This school has been in business for over 20 years, and has taught thousands of students Russian, English, Italian, Spanish, German, and French. They are highly regarded and have an impeccable relationship. In fact, they have invited me to move to Sevastopol next year to teach their advanced English students, and I am excited to say I have accepted their invitation.

At present, we are in the early stages of developing an ongoing program specifically geared toward men seeking a Russian Bride, and women seeking an English (or Italian, or Spanish, or German, or French) husband. In a matter of one, or two, or three weeks our skilled instructors can prepare you for your first meeting with your Russian Lady by teaching you to speak and understand more Russian than you can imagine. Without a doubt you will impress her far beyond any other man she may have met who just expects her to learn his language, with no effort on his part. In that same time frame, we can prepare your Russian Lady to speak and understand enough English to be comfortable telling you what she wants, how she feels, and what is important to her.

This program can be set up for you as individuals, or it can be incorporated into your visit together. Imagine you and your Lady meeting in the beautiful seaside resort of Sevastopol, Crimea, on the Northern Coast of the Black Sea, where you will attend separate classes every morning, and spend your afternoons and evenings practicing your new language skills together. What a perfect romantic bond you two can form by sharing this experience.

We offer, not only our successful program called “Learning Can Be Fun,” we also offer arrangements for your accommodations, transportation, excursions, and personal attention to your needs.

Freebird, I know that such programs do exist elsewhere, but we already have a beautiful language school, well established, that even has its own small hotel. And, I am unaware of any such program in Sevastopol. Also, I'm not sure if I'm overreaching the guidelines about advertising.

Thanks for your help

Posted by: phs102090@aol.c

Hi Going to Russia,
As you can see from my post to Freebird, I am going to Sevastopol to work at teaching English. Also, as a professional writer, I am already arranging contacts with companies offering services and products to the English speaking world. I have found that many sophisticated companies have difficulty communicating comfortably in English to their prospective clients and customers. While their translations may be accurate (though many are not), they are often awkward and difficult for English speakers (especially Americans) to truly understand. This is especially true on websites that companies simply translate directly from Russian to English. They look good. They've obviously spent big bucks on their sites. But, the message they are trying to impart is lost in the translation. I'm already working with two clients there, and they are quite pleased with the results so far.
Thanks for the welcome, and I imagine we'll be in touch.

My name is Fred and I just signed up and I'm looking forward to learning allot here on this web site. I have met a wonderful Russian woman who lives in Taganrog and I will be going to Russia in Feb. to meet her in Moscow. I want to learn as much as possible about Russia and it's history and culture so that I don't act like a stupid american. I would like to know if there are any inexpensive hotels in Moscow because I'm in the process of saving up the money for the trip. I already paid for the plane ticket and the visa. Saving for the hotel's in Moscow and in Rostov-on Don and the round trip train ride. Any and all help will be greatfully appreciated. Thanks!

Hi , and welcome to our forum.Like any city Moscow will have the full range of hotels.
I would just use the net and click on Cheap moscow hotels, its sure to bring up something.
Good luck with your search.

Welcome to the forum Jazz!
I think you'll find that Moscow is THE most expensive city in the world.
Look at this link for the classified. http://www.russianmeetingplace.com/...splay.php?f=251
You'll find something by 'moscow guide'. That might help.
Guys,,, Wasn't "Uncle Pasha" from Moscow? He runs a boarding house. Look in the search for the places to see and go to.

Thanks for the info, but I have been online looking for hotels and there must be over a hunderd hotels to choose from. If possible, myself and Elena would like to try and find a hotel somewhat close to the city center, within walking distance to the kremlin and red square that doesn't cost a arm and a leg. Elena is not from Moscow so it would be nice to walk to everything.

Try this one Jazz

Thanks Chrismc for the link. I will see what they can offer.

I spent a couple nights at the Maxima Irbis Hotel. It's not exactly close to Red Square but the metro is close by, the front desk people speak English and you can get a taxi anytime. It's a nice place and they offered a free breakfast buffet. I booked a reservation through Hotels.com

Jazz:

I would recommend renting an apartment in Russia.
Uncle Pasha -- http://www.unclepasha.com/
and Olyesa -- http://www.russiangirlfriday.com/

Can help you find one. They are both very trustworthy, let them know you heard about them from this website and they will take care of you.
But if you insist on a hotel
http://www.1bigeurope.com/ is a good site for finding hotels in Russia.

Best of luck on your trip.

Posted by: sidney

We stayed at the rossia but last I heard it was to be torn down. Loved the view of red square from our window. Just choose the side of the hotel toward what you want to see.
Sid

Posted by: Jazz

Thanks EasyTarget for the info about the apartments. I think that it will be better and cheaper to stay in an apartment instead of a hotel. That way we could get a feeling on how it would be like to live together as a married couple.

Hi! Ïðèâåò!
I'm from Russia! My native language is Russian.
I have a smattering of English and want to learn it better.
In my turn, I can teach you Russian.

Posted by: GoingToRussia

Hello Bee_Bdgy!

Welcome to the Russian Meeting Place (RMP). What brings you to the forum ... to learn English and teach Russian only?

Posted by: trecho

Hey Bee Bdgy, i know english, and want to learn russian.

Posted by: trecho

if i posted on another thread, will this make it the third or fourth?

Posted by: GoingToRussia

You should be ready to post in any thread now trecho. You have 3 posts.

Hi everyone, I'm new to RMP. Well sort of anyway.
I have been browsing RMP quite a lot, and the info I have read so far is nothing short of incredible. Massive kudos to you guys!!

Anyway, I'm here to learn as much as I can, as I like to prepare myself of what will probably be a rollercoaster ride in the next few years (or the rest of my life!).
I've heard so many sad stories, but the rewards for a succesful pairing seem to be worth having a crack at least?

I have so many questions to ask you guys, but feel it is a bit inappropriate to post on this topic, so I will have to get my 3 posts in first!

I must admit, I already started using 'Aweb', but so far I haven't lost a penny (something to do with not spending any in the first place!). I have now removed the offending website on your recommendation from my bookmarks, and have now started to take a look at Elena's and Freepersonals.ru

I've also made enquiries to learn the russian language, and will try to get private tuition - I feel it's important that any partnerships works both ways. Besides, there is no harm in learning another language.

Any more suggestions what I should do? (apart from making another 2 posts!)

I am 35 years old, my family has owned a small business, in the U.S. for over 85 years, which , unfortunately, doesn't mean mean much to my wallet. I do however, have many other qualities about me, that far outweigh my financial status. Which, by the way, isn't as bad as I make it out to be, but, it could be more..... I would like to know if these beautiful, very intelligent, well-educated, obviously, very strong minded women, to undertake such a thing, as moving to another country half-way around the world, to live with a man they've only met in person a few times, if even that. Are they for real? or is, the one site in particular, Dream Marriage, is it a scam. What do you guys know about this agency? and Cherry Blossoms. I am an athletic, very good looking man, I get hammered with emails from dream marriage, that is why I told you what I look like. I am also well-spoken, well-mannered, and well-brought up, but they can't possibly know that yet. So what's up fella's, these gals, too hot, young, and smart, and family oriented, to be true. It seems to be the case in the U.S., I can still date the young, beautiful, intelligent girls, but their values towards family have changed, or if they are super hot, they end up going to the rich guys, or they just aren't ready for a family and I am, they want to wait. I lost a girl to a professional athlete once, no big deal, there are plenty of fish in the sea, and especially across the Pond, it seems....better girls??? I am actually, very respectful towards women. So what do you know about dream marriage, and cherry blossoms, and are these smoking hot babes on dream marriage and cherry blossoms a scam.

Welcome to the forum.
Take some time to read up on the agencys and the scams down in the relationship area. Take your time to learn.
Yes the women are real and you can find them but take your time and do it right.

I never heard of either one but I took a quick look. Blossums I definetly don't like, you can't search for a girl until you become a member. Dream Marrriage reminds me so much of AnastasiaWeb.com that I wouldn't trust this site either. Ths site also has things you can buy for girls, organize tours, and uses webcams. The pictures are also studio types with only good looking girls. Both sites don't look kosher. Of course all sites have their good and bad girls so I'm sure some of these women are the real deal.

To answer your questions ... yes these beautiful, well educated, family oriented women do exist. They are looking for a man that is family oriented, has a stable lifestyle and job, will not cheat on her, and respects her as a partner and woman.

I can only say that is has been my experience that these women from the Former Soviet Union (FSU) are better for me then women in my country. Mainly because I am more compatible with them, we have the same goals, we think alike, and they make you feel like a king with all their love and support. When a woman from the FSU likes you ... you will know it!!!

FSU women aren't as hung up on looks as most women from the USA. Of course they want an attractive man but it is not the 1st quality they look for.

Try these sites. I have used all 3 in the past and found them very good with very few scammers.

www.freepersonals.ru
www.allsinglerussiangirls.com
www.elenasmodels.com

It was mentioned to read the "scammers" section on this forum and it's a good idea. Here is the link, http://www.russianmeetingplace.com/...isplay.php?f=86. There are scammers, Good Time Girls (GTG), and Green Card Grabbers (GCG). The scammers are easy to spot, the GTGs aren't discovered until you meet them because all the what you to do is to buy them something or take them to a different city, and the GCGs aren't discovered until after you marry them, they just want a free ride to your country where they can live off of you.

With that said, these "bad" girls are few when compared to all the great women actually looking for a foreign man. I can only say, I will never date a woman from the USA again.

Don't hesitate to ask more questions, good luck, and welcome to the forum.

Posted by: ap101

Thanks for the advice mike. I have already done a lot of reading on it. I first got interested in Russian women because of a scammer. I had suspicions after the very first letter she sent to me. After letters 2 and 3, I was positive. I am a pretty smart guy, and HE couldn't pull the wool over my eyes. I asked HER to send me a picture of her holding a picture of me or HER holding a newspaper, so that I could see the Headline and name of newspaper, then I could look it up on the Internet. It worked, her camera was broke, but she would send me one when it was fixed. She never asked me for money though, I busted HIM too soon. One of her letters exactly matched one I found on a scamming forum somewhere.

On a personal note Mike, Alakska is very high on my list of places to visit, are there any great rivers to whitewater raft there, of course, I would fish an awful lot too.

Posted by: AkMike

Theres some rafting here. I don't know the classes of scoring but I wouldn't do it.
Take a look at my pics or my wife, 'Tatysik' for some fish pics. at the top of the page in the photo gallerys.
Her first fishing trip after getting here in the US she got a 50# halibut.

At first I thought it was strange when I came in and saw you have to post 3 times in the new member forum first. I thought usually I register, introduce myself and then start posting. What in the world will I say in three posts in the new member forums. But, this little post here helped me with post number #2, so thank you! And I found it helpful that you introduced all the admin and mods in this section plus noted their difference in time frames.

I found this information interesting. It's cheaper to rent an apartment then to stay at a hotel. Are these like American boarding houses where you rent a room or is it a full apartment with kitchen, livingroom, bedroom?

Posted by: GoingToRussia

In most cases yes ... but they aren't quite that "fansy". For example, some of them have one faucet in the bathroom ... it swivels back and forth to the sink and to the tub!

Posted by: Autumn

Now that sounds interesting.

Posted by: GoingToRussia

HE HE HE, not as interesting as when the power or water goes out. If your apartment has pails or buckets in the room, fill them up quick! You can use the water to flush the toilet if the water or electricity goes out!

We run into problems like that we you live in town in the States.

I'm running into a problem with posting to other areas on the site.
I registered 9:50 posted my first of 3 posts required 10:27 and my hour is passed and this should be post six.

There's nothing more I can do here but wait folks.

I'll get an administartor to see if they can fix the problem.

Problem should be solved. There is a brief period of time that has to pass before the posts are updated on the server. Please let me know if you are still having issues.

Im working on a documentary for a major UK broadcaster which looks at western women actively seeking foreign men for marriage. I am looking to speak to any existing couples as well as British women or men from Russia/Ukraine/other CIS countries who are seeking the other... any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks, jess x

Hi. I'm hoping to teach English in Irkutsk from September. Does anybody know what is a reasonable wage there? or how much people have to pay to rent an apartment? If I know the latter, then I'll have some idea of how good a salary offer is.

Actually I met a Ukrainian woman online, she lives in Russia, and I wanted to try to learn a bit about the culture (differences and similarities to western). So I might pop in randomly to ask new questions .

Hi every body!
I live in Montreal, Canada but I came here from Romania about 6 years ago. I am quite an international person as my father is German descendant and my mother is Vietnamese (she was student in Romania long time ago). I speak currently 4 languages quite different ( English, French, Romanian, Vietnamese and a little bit German).
I am very new in RW dating thing, actually I was hit by some scammers when I put my profile on a Canadian dating site, thus I became interested in RW. Now it looks like some drug and I think I will not get out from this without a RW by my side
I have been reading that amazing love story and the wonderful wedding of Chrismc but I couldn't see the pictures posted, very frustrating. What should I do?

Hello all,

I guess we all have to start some place! I accidentally stumbled across this site, and read a few posts! Most helpful already! I have tired many different sites looking for my "Russian Bride", and have fallen prey to just about everything - lol But fortunately, I picked up on a few flags and just stopped. I am serious in what I what, but no luck. My mother comes from Germany, and My father was from the former Yugoslavia. Just tired of the American Ladies and their attitudes :-)

I have tried a few of the sites like GLobal Ladies, R Brides, Anastasia, a few that have been talked about here, I always thought that there has to be an easier way to meet on-line beore I go to one of the FSU countries. I really want to go for New Years, but it all depends if one of my houses sells! The way the economy has been going lately - lol But that is another issue... I am an avid history buff, and that was my minor at college, with a major in English Lit, so I want to travel to my mother nad father's Birth Places as well...

Where were your parents born, what country/ies? 1/2 of my ancestory comes from Poland, not exactly a CIS country but with close ties.

the consensus on web sites is:
A) find and use websites that you can exchange personal information freely (phone numbers, personal email address, postal address) this way you can determine the woman is real, but with this approach you have to always be on guard for scammers--basicly do not send any money (there are of course exceptions to any rule)
B) use free sites (reason no cost-to you to communicate)
C) if using a pay site, use those that allow you to send unlimited letters per month and allow you to contact unlimited woman, these usualy have a monthly fee.
D) if you communicate with a woman thru a website's letter forwarding system, make sure they again allow to freely exchange personal contact info, that letters/personal info is not censored

E) avoid Anastasia Web (I would also use caution with Global ladies, their practices are similar to Aweb), usually the woman on here can be found on other sites that are not "pay per letter" sites allow exchange of personal info and if you really find a woman on there that you MUST write, use their 3-way calling feature and get the woman's home phone number in this call and communicate with her outside of Aweb, their are too many "Hairy Boris's writing the letters on Aweb and the woman are not even aware of these letters.

Hi everyone!

My name is Bo I am from FL, I have been checking the forums, very good information, for the new and veterans. I flew last year to the Ukraine and meet the love of my dreams. If everything goes to plan, I am expecting her and her daughter, by the end of July. I hope I can help in the Forum, and learn from it.

Posted by: AkMike

Maybe a silly question but why are you flying the Panama flag when you are from Fla.?

Anyway welcome!

Posted by: BO_4u2

AkMike....Thank you. I was born in Panama, I live now in Fl. When I register in the in the RMP, one of the questions is what is your country automatically I responded Panama, good observation i will changed it around.

I visited Panama back in the early 80's and I haven't seen that flag since then. I was curious..
Since I was mugged and stabbed in Colon I am not in a hurry to return either!
But I have heard that it's better now.
Good work on finding your lady! Where in Ukraine is she from/at?

I am sorry to hear of your bad experience back in Panama, I hope you weren't hurt bad. My dad live back home, he tells me the crime is still the same, you pretty much have to know your way around, an keep away from the bad areas. As far as downtown Panama, it looks like Miami. Personally I have not been back in almost 20 years, but I plan to make a trip soon.
Did you were in the military, or was just visiting?
My Fiance is from Nikolaev, she is awaiting for her interview in the US embassy in Kiev in July the 2nd.

That is great Sid, I love Nikolaev, nice town a lot of beautiful women

This spring we took some of my family from Fla. to Ukraine for 2 weeks.. Not too bad except for 1 cousin from Homestead. He'd never traveled abroad before so he wasn't acting very good some of the time.. (manners) He thought if he spoke louder they'd understand him.. LOL

My brother was in the Army in Pamama. My sis in law and I took the train across to Colon to watch the ships enter the canal. Nice park on the water, Sunday morning, bad luck. Luckily I wasn't hurt badly and sis wasn't hurt any.

Posted by: sidney

Nikolaev manufactures some sizeable ships. The local college has many courses catering to this industry. Unfortunately my wife's degree in shipbuilding doesn't have much demand in central PA.
Nikolaev does have it's charm. I agree that the women are great but then again I'm a little biased. It doesn't have as much to see or do like Kiev or even Odessa but still plenty to keep you busy. Some of my favorite places were the bowling alley, theatre and a few restaurants as well as the farmer market. For the small size of this city I'm a little surprised at how many individuals on this forum have been there.
Sid

Posted by: Raspberry

The ship "Nikolaev" oftens comes to the Greek port of Navplion, on the Peleponnese. Somewhere in the archives I have a picture of it docked in Navplion. In fact, I helped with some sailors find their way around. Needless to say, my cousin was a bit astounded that I knew some Russian and talking to these sailors.

Posted by: sidney

Small world isn't it.
We had some visitors from ukraine at the co I'm where I'm working. The funny thing was I knew more russian then they knew english.

That park sounds like is located by Gatun locks, I believe is the last point in the Atlantic side where you actually cross the locks by car except when they open the locks. Colon is kind of rough, but the duty free in colon you can find good deals in electronics, jewelry and name brands fashion, and there is always more security. I am glad, you made it okay, and your sister.

LOL, it was a long time ago and I learned a lesson.. Keep your eyes peeled always!
Other than that instance it was an interesting trip. I decided that the tropics aren't for me.. Too hot and sticky.. Give me snow and cold anytime! You can dress for cold but you can only strip down so far for the heat!

I was in Odessa for a few days, and yes is a much larger city and more things to do, I consider Nikolaev more like small town, country style, but charming, I did enjoy it very much.

I spent time in both these cities. Nikolaev I was meeting girl there that I knew. She did actually call it a "town" in first few times I talked with her but also said it was population of 500,000 so that is a bit bigger than a town...lol

but having been there now it did seem more like a rural city of maybe 40 to 50,000 than a proper city centre so to speak. I think the "region" or "oblast" maybe was the 500,000 she was reffering to.

Odessa itself is a reasonable size port city though. I think it has over a million people

IF IT HELPS:-

Nikolaev Oblast population 1,250,000
Nikolaev the City population 550,000

Odessa City population 1,027,000

You have 4 posts now so you can start a new thread, which is what I would recommend.

Like Raptor9 I would like to say that Aweb has its justification. I used other sites for two years with some success, but then turned to Aweb three years ago.
With Aweb you can get into contact with women who has limited English and/or Internet skills. Sure, the main office as well as the local agencies use dubious methods in order to increase profit. But you just have to be selective in the letters you chose to read and respond to.
April this year I met a wonderful non English speaking girl from a smal town in Ukraine. We still correspond using Aweb although we have spoken on the phone (using an interpreter provided by Aweb), exchanged addresses AND met in person. It's simply easier and faster that way because we have very good translation services in the local agency.
Whenever we want to exchange documents (she is applying for VISA as she is going to visit me in August) we exchange e-mails using the e-mail box of a friend of hers.

So don't walk away from Aweb - you will be leaving out a lot of wonderful women, who use Aweb as their sole internet dating source - simply because their local marriage agency accidently chose to hook up with Aweb.

For some reason new members can only post in this thread of the new members forum - hence the strange placement of my defence for the Anastasia web dating site. Perhaps the moderator can move my reply to the correct location?

Posted by: TKT

All I really wanted was to participate in the discussion in the Danish section of this site. I hope I am free to do so now.

Posted by: max_1

Hi TKT

Of coz you can post on Danish part They will be glad to help you.

Looking forward to help you

Regarding the post TKT has made about Anastasia.

Good women DO sign-up on bad agencies. The trick here is getting direct contact information to be able to correspond with these good women.

Welcome to the forum jack.

You are correct, all dating sites have their good and bad girls. It seems that Anastasia has more bad then good and the price is on the high side. Yes it is best to get contact information as soon as possible.

Hello everyone - sorry for the duplication as I have posted this in another new members thread, but am keen to get in contact with as many people on the forum as possible.

I have just joined this website and am looking forward to sharing thoughts, commentary, questions and ideas with all of you.

My name is Augustus, I am 32 years old and divide my time between London and the Kent/Sussex border where I have just moved house.

My connection to this website is that my wife of three years, Marisa, is originally from Moscow.

My story so far...

I met Marisa four years ago in the Seychelles. I was working out there and she visited the islands on holiday.

We first saw each other on a white sand beach outside a hotel on a blisteringly hot Sunday afternoon. I wasn't even supposed to be there, I was supposed to be on a different island on a surfing trip with friends but cancelled in the last minute.

I still get the same butterflies in my stomach when I remember the first time I saw her, she was a vision in a bikini. Probably the most beautiful girl I had ever seen.

I couldn't keep my eyes off her and we kept catching each other looking over, which became almost comical.

However, I never plucked up the courage to speak to her and eventually had to leave to pick up my friends from the boat terminal.

But for the next two days I could not stop thinking about the girl at the beach.

Then, as fate would have it, I returned to the hotel two nights later to do some photography for a conference that my company was holding.

It was on a huge open air terrace. Half way through, I heard behind me the distinct clacking of high heels. I turned to see the girl on the beach. We clocked each other and then she calmly sat down and began to read her book.

It felt like a steam train had entered my chest, my heart was pounding that hard. I knew I had to do something.

I approached her and simply said "Is it a good book?"
She politely replied that she spoke very little English to which I replied:
"That's OK - I'll teach you!"

We met for drinks the following night and it was love from that moment on. Normally it took me months to fall for someone and here it took a matter of minutes. And we didn't even speak the same language!

We then spent 10 fabulous days together. Two weeks later I visited her in Moscow where our infatuation and love for each other doubled each day.

A month later I went back to see her in Moscow and then we planned to spend Christmas and New Year in Sweden, where she could meet my mother.

Disaster then struck. After planning the whole 10 day trip, with hotels and itineraries, Marisa's travel agent made grave errors on her visa application and she was refused a visa to Sweden.
I had already landed there, having made a two day trip from the Seychelles and the day I was waiting at an airport hotel for her to arrive, she was telling me that the visa had been denied and she was unable to travel.
I called the Swedish consulate in Moscow but nobody was there as everyone had left for the Christmas holidays. I tried one last time and managed to get hold of the consulate herself, who had only returned to the office for ten minutes to pick up something as she had missed her flight back to Sweden that day. I explained our predicament and she asked Marisa to return to the consulate immediately. She then personally gave Marisa her visa. It was serendipity!

A few days later I proposed and the following month Marisa joined me in the Seychelles. We married later that year on the most beautiful beach in the world.

We were happy in the Seychelles, but when Marisa became pregnant we decided to head back to England to build our family's future.

Our daughter, Tanya, was born in Oxford. She is now two years old and the most beautiful Runglish girl in the world.

Life in the UK hasn't been easy, especially on one income as Marisa has been adament about enjoying being a full time mother (otherwise what's the point of having children?) but Tanya has really benefited. She is so developed and clever. She starts nursery in September and then Marisa will start work.

We'd love to hear from any other Runglish couples, all my friends are still single lads playing the field and Marisa has not met anyone she has gelled with. Apparently English girls are very wary of Russian girls.

As I mentioned I'm 32, Marisa is 27 and Tanya is 2. I work in London and commute every week day, we just moved out from London to the gorgeous countryside in Kent.

All the best
Augustus
