The Russian Meeting Place: A place to meet people and talk about all things Russian...
International Discussions about Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Travel, Music, Russian News, Ukrainian culture, Belarusian Dating, Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Kiev and other intelligent topics about life in the former Soviet Union.
I think this is very much off topic but everyone has heard about her exposure on national television.
Was it planned?
I think it could have been planned but maybe it was an accident.

and ONLY in USA it can make fuss. Who cares about a very small piece of skin.

Hi Gentlemen...
I was going to say something similar to what Jutman wrote when I first saw this thread...
I don't think a breast exposure should receive that much positive or negative attention...
It has received so much attention perhaps because the morals in the U.S. are influenced by a protestant Puritan ethics...
But, Europeans are much more comfortable with seeing breasts than Americans are...
This thread is not really relevant to Russia or Russian relationships but I wanted to add my thoughts as a complement to what Brian wrote...

I just what to say: I did'nt want to insult anybody.
But here is what a large part of Danes think:
a) It was not really nude. She had a 'star' to cover most of the central part.
b) For some strange reason its the Christian who control the media in USA. By christian I mean the deep believer, belong to the Christian Coliation within the Rep. party and so on. They represent about 20% of the American population.
A lot of people in USA don't really care about politics and such a piece of skin, but since they don't participant in the public debate its the Christian who control the debate.
c) IF its was planned, its was stupid of Justin and Janet, because they should know the situation in USA.
d) she have given an apolygy, peace man. Move on. Now its 1 months ago. It should never been a news story, more than 1 or 2 day(s).
e) and Janet is no longer a little hot fox. She looked a little strange in that suit.

Thanks for contributing a European perspective about this
I wonder what Russians feel about the incident? I imagine in a similar way as Europeans feel...

Interesting views, all.
I personally could care less...
But, I do believe it was planned, but also that the laws in the US allow you to show everything except nipple, and that was covered anyways.
It is interesting that Europe views Christians as a controlling minority here...the view of Christians in the US is that they (we) are an apathetic majority who are too wishy washy on things that matter and not nearly as politically involved as many other groups who are in fact minority groups but who lobby heavilly. The Gay/Lesbian groups come readilly to mind. Our view of ourseves is more of a sleeping giant who would have more "say" in things if we only voted as we should.
Just thought I'd throw that out there.

Thanks for your feedback and thoughts, Michael.
I was thinking about posting a photo of the incident, to show that it really is not that offensive, but... I don't want to offend anyone...
As you mentioned, Michael, Janet's nipple was covered, and so her outfit was less revealing than some bikinis...
Although I don't want this thread to be a diversion for us, I am going to post the photo of the incident to illustrate the point that the incident may not have been that bad or offensive, and if anyone is really offended, then I can remove the photo... (I just searched and found the photo on the internet).
But, I think that the photo will show that the incident was not that bad.

We can wrap this discussion up, and hopefully this was to serve to help us better understand the differences between American and European beliefs and values.

On second thought, let me just put the link to the website where I found the photo:
I only posted this because everyone here (in the US) was making such a big deal out of it.
Since I don't like football I didn't even watch the Super Bowl. I saw everything on the news the next day.
I thought it would be an interesting diversion and it's nice to hear that European's couldn't care less either.
My post was placed in "Off Topic Chit-Chat" for obvious reasons.

In some countries in Europe, at major TV channels who can be viewed by more than 60% of the population, they show soft porn movie (Playboy movies). Even some public stations.
So how can a semi-nude breast be interesting.
One TV channel is divided. From 6 Am until 6 Pm they have cartoon network. Between 6-9 Pm they have TV Nature (about animals) and between 9-12 Pm they are Action (movies) and between 00 Am to 04 Am they are TV6 (playboy movies).

What nobody has mentioned is the state of the actual tit. It was more like an udder then a tit. I am surprised she had the bottle to get the shriveled up bap flap out looking in such a poor state as it did. I think if she had done here in the UK at the F.A cup final it would have been talked about for a day but nothing like it was in the states. And why did Timberlake appologise all the time for the stunt? If you do something have the courage to stand up for it, if not don't do it, muppet!
