from loser to millionaire...I will, so can YOU!

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: ham

I have to admit that I am a loser...I got no big money, big status, nothing...
and I often cry myself asleep after reading the story of some millionaire who expounds his lifestyle and abilities...online of course.

I cry myself asleep in shame, but can't enjoy sound sleep because I live in a mobile home, and drunkards often make a point of throwing a barf-party under my window...by the time I sort this out it's dawn...and I am too tired to even seek a job besides day jobs...selling oranges at street corners, stuff like that. Mobile homes have privileges but also some drawback...my welfare checks rarely make it to me.

I have been telling myself that this must change, but it has been some eleventeen years i do so.
BUT TODAY I KNOW IT IS GOING TO CHANGE!

I have several throw-away email addresses I use to impersonate different people online...this is what nay sayers claim...I prefer to say that each email address is a mediatic way for the spirit of a distinguished gentleman to channel through me...
Well, today I was trashing spam as usual, then it hit me at the email address of Alistair, consul-general of the Commonwealth of Barbados in Uganda:
EARN 75$ AN HOUR FROM YOUR HOME. SURVEY BLAST, GET PAID FOR YOUR OPINION.

That can easily make $200.000 a year...my new life as a millionaire starts monday and I don't even have to learn anything or do anything.

Don't do it Ham, it's a scam!

You sound like you need a boost in your confidance. Maybe you need to seek professional help, it is never as bad as it appears. Good luck to you.

Hey if it's a pyramid set up count me in! I'd love to have a beach house on the Rivera as a vacation home. (If it weren't for the french it'd be good )

Usually I end up dozing because I got no sleep at night, so someone steals my oranges and I walk home sad and depressed without a cent in my pockets ...what the millionaires call their garbage, i call my pantry...
Yesterday I found five bananas that were almost edible...no, i found it esculent to be honest.

Any idea how to deal with the drunkards who come & barf under my window?

Anyone PM me their psychotherapist's name...perhaps he can help me, too...

ham, you'd have to try a damn sight harder than that to offend me... I have no idea what you are trying to prove to yourself or anyone else... It's a conundrum to me as to why you would spend your valuable time constantly devaluing this site and lowering yourself to the level of name calling and general (albeit sometimes veiled) digs at people. Call a spade a spade by all means, cry foul if you wish, but you have regularly been involved in the diversion of threads into prissy little spats and childish arguments.... on the other hand, you sometimes offer useful and insightful advice.... I for one am at a loss to explain and understand the paradoxical approach that you seem to adore so much!

You call what I post "inane nonsense " and then pose as if I were after you, trying to offend?
You talk to me of "digs"?

I do call a spade a spade, and that is why many "strange" people dislike my demeanor; they should buy a mirror some day.
As for your catchy question "I have no idea what you are trying to prove to yourself or anyone else ", i could turn it back to you.

Face it...most of what you call "digs" are sarcastic and intended to be so on my part...I am at the party dressed as Zorro, but at the party you find The Rain Man, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Louis XV, Cresus etc etc...the only problem is that laughing of Zorro is legit, but when Zorro laughs at Louis XV, he gets offended: but I AM Louis XV!

Otherwise put, one must have great guts to claim that my posts or my charachter here are the most laughable or idiotic or nonsensical...or based on diversion...

You for example are a very bizarre specimen.

I do make enemies, if you want to call it that, for saying what I think...hell, i can even picture how I step on these people's (big) feet...
The problem is, I ought to be a computer to say just the right thing to everyone...
Oh well, I will have to live with that.
We can agree to disagree.

I learn to appreciate what Ham is saying 'underneath' the message.
It is sometimes difficult because sarcasm does not translate well in written language, especially when the speakers are not equally native.
I would agree with the suggestion that, Ham, you share with us some variations of perspective. Sometimes, it appears that you wish to only share pessimism... I am sure you have more to say than that.
Irregardless, I appreciate what you contribute because it is a voice not heard as frequently as we need to hear. Not everything is sweetness and nice, unless it is of American superficiality, da?
There is a place in this world for voices that do more than 'blow sunshine up your skirt'.

Posted by: freebird

Yes sometimes the "horror story" posts can give one pause to think. I know there are even a few members on the RMP that have been taken for a roller-coaster ride... - I Just didn't really get this one though, I think we have all got these "Nigerian" (or Ugandan) internet scam offers!

Posted by: ham

first it's not a Nigerian scam offer, but an AD from free email provider WOWMAIL.COM.
They offer members the opportunity to join that scheme and (so says the ad ) earn 75$ an hour answering promos or rating ads or whatever. Obviously the millions-and-then-some members of free email service wowmail.com have seen that ad, but some wonderful people love to contruct that I need my cerbellum removed for mentioning it, which says a lot about them.

Second, the point of my sarcastic post is no more of a point (in the free chat forum ) than "points" made in opposite terms by inner circle members loved so much elsewhere...

Quote:
especially when the speakers are not equally native.

I am "native" enough to make big feet hurt, aren't I?
Since I posted that Italian flag (to the request of one of them), i seemingly offered them another argument against me...
This just shows that anything I might say or do is a good excuse...

oh well...

What the hell does Nigerian scams or wowmail or any of this crap have to do with Russian people or places or relationships???????

Have you got so desperate for attention that you have to dredge for these ridiculous "SCAMS"......or have you actually exposed every relationship scam in the world HAM and now starting on this garbage..........i will agree with you about one thing Ham......you got the first part of the post right....whether or not you are a millionare only you know??????

Posted by: bingism

You know Ham, you're bleating on about "inner circle" is beginning to sound like sour grapes about something. You talk about stepping on big feet, as far as I'm concerned, there are no feet for you to step on. You're whole post, whether you are willing to admit this or not, was spawned from another thread where you challenged a member to prove to you his own financial/professional status as it was too unbelievable for you. You claim that your posts "add" something and offer a different point of view. However, I shall draw your attention to the top of this web-page:

"The Russian Meeting Place: A place to meet people and talk about all things Russian...

International Discussion Forum about Russia, Ukraine, Travel to Russia, Russian Culture, Russian Women, Brides and Marriage, History, Politics, Learn Russian Language, Music, Sports & Arts. "

Through your own admission, you would seem to have dipped your toe into this arena some years ago, got lightly burnt and now have no interest in Russia, other than to "protect" people and warn them of the dangers... in your words, "poor Barney" or "Wong" or "Abdul" (or whatever other stupid name you think of) needs your help to understand the reality of the world.

Ultimately, when someone (usually more than one) calls you out for posting perpetual pessimisim regarding a subject which you seem to have very little experience, you cry foul and resort to an "attack is the best form of defense" strategy. There is nothing veiled about my post or my fairly open criticism of what you continue to write.

PS. the Italian flag is not a further reason to attack you... despite what you maight believe

Cynicism is a useful contribution in my opinion. Otherwise you end up with group-think, people posting platitudes and a boring forum.

Posted by: bingism

Cynicism is useful to a point, but it needs to be supported with genuine fact or educated opinion...

Yes, but what is genuine fact on a virtual forum where we never meet and see each other face to face? Ham's cynicism was trying to make a valid point: you have to be wary of the wonderful tales that people tell on the internet. Ham was trying to make legitimate point in most of his postings: you can't take things at face value and his cynicism was making in my opinion a valid contribution to many of the discussions.

I agree as well...his problem was he wasn't "politically correct" for the few holier than thow around this place.

I didn't mind Ham's input even though most times it was negative. Every now and then he had some very good points so that will be missed.

My major issue was his overuse of non-sensical verbal diarrhea spattered with condescension.

I am aware of the irony in that last sentence but it's just to prove that anyone can talk like that.

Spakoyna, Jericho, Misha, Azamuner I have to agree too its never good to restrict free speech. As for "useful threads" how about the penultimate one - "Old Profiles" - I think it was a very good & valid thread about the danger of buying address or contacting a girl that has been on the agency for 2+ or 3+ years, which might not be immediately obvious when looking at the profile. It is possible or even likely that she is either no longer interested, OR perhaps there is some reason she is still single? (I found this out the hard way!!!)

You're right Freebird. The hardest part was just getting to the meat of the posts, but they usually contained useful information.

Agree with you completely French_Misha. As well as the danger of being too negative there is also a danger of being too much of a "back slap happy" forum.

Any forum needs to be balanced in terms of the positives and the negatives. I think Ham had the potential to be very valuable in terms of that balance. Unfortunately he probably didn't execute it as well as he could have.

I would agree with you bing as long as the positives are equally as supported by genuine fact or educated opinion.

One thing that Ham said that I agree with was his "women are women" comment. Even ConnerVT, and old time regular, alluded to the same thing with his comment of "I married a woman from Russia, not I married a Russian woman".

Myths and opinion can be both positive or negative. It is up to the reader to apply their own filter (and research) and decide what is right.

Otherwise, "I've got a bridge I'd like to sell..."

Maybe, but is that any worse than the politicians who will limit themselves to 8-second sound bites sounding off platitudes? Yes, his delivery style left a bit to be desired, but it was his style and he was making some useful points. The problem I see here as a newby is that very often a lot of people here are quite happy to perpetuate the myths about Russia (and Russian women) because it is not polite to challenge ideas in a forum that should be promoting discussion.

And, the thread also tried to get people to think more critically about the services that agencies such as Elena's offer. Is it not in their interest to sell the addresses of women that are no longer available? Ham was making a legitimate point: you cannot take the marketing of any company at face value.

Well I hope he wasn't banned. He makes a good foil for my points I even find myself laughing when I read some of the stuff he writes. Usually when you throw a broadside out there you are bound to hit something.

Unfortunately his sometimes good insights, IMO, come wrapped in a bitter, obnoxious, cynical, overly sarcastic skin that often makes people lose sight of what was good in what he said. When every thread you are involved in eventually degenerates into nasty head butting with someone, with you always in the middle, then in my book that is problematic, no matter the validity of your original point. Lets face it, I have yet to see ANY topic where there was a overall positive presentation by him. And the music thread just had me laughing my butt off.

But hey this is the internet. It can be a rough and tumble place. Doesn't bother me one bit.

Actually no it is not in their best interest to do such a thing. That doesn't mean they don't do it, but it is not in their best interest to do so.

Ham went FAR beyond telling us you can't take the marketing of marriage agencies at face value. Someone reading your statement above might wonder what the hullaboo was all about, since I don't think anyone in that thread disagreed with that sentiment. I mentioned numerous times in my interaction with Ham the validity of his general point, it was in the specifics where he got mucked up.

Ham was given a 3 week timeout. I'm sure he will be back.

You are exactly correct with your analogy goforit. He was given a time out for his constant negativity, being "problematic", name calling, and "nasty head butting". It's okay once in a while but as you said it is his usual post ... name calling is never tolerated.
