Beware Gentlemen... This is the newest scam out there and it completely turned my life upside down. Take EXTREME CAUTION or it will happen to you next.

It starts out simple enough...

1. You accidentally meet a Russian (Ukrainain, Belorussian, insert what ever) gal researching something.

2. You seem to forge a geniune interest in eachother.

3. You do something crazy like fly to Kiev to meet here on a last minute whim where she rebukes your every suggestion to purchase her gifts.

4. She used her supersecret ninja commie (excuse me, former commie) skills to make you fall madly inlove.

5. Suggests and facilitates you moving to russia and starting a business (which will ultimately fail, but not her fault).

6. Integrates you into her her family and circle of friends.

7. Marries you in a lavish ceremony where you pay all costs (which her family, and she pays alot too) and has all of her family, your family, friends etc attend, but insists you not drink (too much). (BIG RED FLAG)

8. Reluctantly agrees to return to America with you.

9. Is extremely supportive while you look for work and go through the shock of being away from america and near 6 figure salaries for close to 2 years.

10. Makes you think you can't live with out her. (Or if you could, it'd be no fun)

Yes gentlemen that is the scam that got me! You see three months ago I was happily waliking down the streets in Russia, smoking a dollar a pack malboro, hanging out with some of the greatest friends I could ever have, with a beer (yes on the street). Now I'm back in the states, broke, in love, and missing my second family.

I hope you all get scammed too....

Sorry to hear your story here. She roped you in pretty good there. For a while you probably thought everything was o k . Is it possible that maybe you didn't get scammed and the relationship just fell apart for other reasons.

She sure went far up the ladder with you. All the way to the United States and then problems started. Or did you see or feel any weirdness before you came back to the states ?

Posted by: AkMike

Geeze PB I thought I misread it after you posted that...

Posted by: joelunchbox

maybe we could take a poll to see how paranoid we are ......

Posted by: redhawk

roger that guys, i read it fast and thought he was serious about being scammed, and dude, we are all a little paranoid and i think our RW are a little, too. we all have every right to be cautious, after all this isnt a game, its our LIVES, happiness, and fortunes (no matter how small in my case) at stake here.

Jeffs,

Just out of curiosity, what are/were the shocks of coming back to America?

It would seem to me this would be informative to what a FSU woman goes through coming here.

I'm getting scammed in a similar way, but she hasn't proposed yet. It's great! I can't wait to get her here so she can scam me some more!

We don't need a poll! I'm not paranoid! My psycologist says I'm past all that now! Why are you calling me paranoid? You don't know me! Maybe you do know me? Have you been watching me? Was it you who followed me down the street last night? You must be the one who read my emails! Ha! You can't fool me! I've disconnected my phone since you bugged it and threw my mobile down the toilet! So there!... The Toilet! That's where your hiding! I thought it was under the bed, but the police couldn't find anyone there!............

Sorry guys,

I haven't been here in a while. Yes it was tongue and cheek humor. My wife actually told me that there are posts here, so I thought I'd answer. BTW Happy Thanksgiving!!!

For Dark Nights question: The shock for me was just reintegrating into the culture, driving everywhere, the "plasticness" (read phony) of people here and of course costs. I really miss my friends and the lifestyle. There isn't the ratrace. It takes more than a few weeks to "Settle In" over there, but once you do you'll never look at it the same way. I had a lot of preconcieved notions before I moved there, and most were blown away.

For Sveta: She said being away from family, just adjusting to the culture specifically where to start with work.

I wish you all well in your personal and professional lives, I hope that next thanksgiving you are closer to your goals be that with work, your existing families or your search for what you are looking for.
