Will take reservation via email, but unless you tell them otherwise, they will put you in the most expensive room.

Standard Single is $60/night and includes breakfast. The room is small and nothing special, but they have good security and the maid service is great. (She saw me bring flowers to my room (to give to my lady later) and she rushed to bring me a vase.) They do have larger rooms at greater cost, but all I wanted was a place to sleep. The room was comfortable and adequate.

They do have several hotels in this city, but this is probably the best. It's in the city center right across the street from the Lenin Memorial and the parks along the Volga river. Usually there was a woman at the reception that spoke English.

Be sure and try the Sahara (Сахара) restaurant. It's across the street from the Venet's hotel and just north of the Lenin Memorial. A Middle Eastern motif with great decor. The Salmon and baked potato was great and at very reasonable cost. In keeping with the motif, there was a live belly dancer for entertainment.

I book room at this hotel for 900 rubel. A little more in summer time: 1200.

Thte city has actually a lot to offer. A new way to organise a pizzabar in the center, a chinese, japanese restuarants.

When I was there for the summer, it was 1500 Ru. I would expect things are in less demand during the winter. The cost should be less per day.
