This brilliant piece of advice was in today's (Scottish) Daily Record:

Quote:
Q. I'VE been talking to a woman on the internet for some time now and we seem to be getting on quite well.

The thing is she's from a different part of Europe and she said she would like to come and visit me.

I know some women lead men on and deceive them via chat rooms, but she insists she won't come until she's saved up the money herself.

But I want to see her as soon as possible so should I offer to give her the money?

A. YOU'RE right to be cautious. There are more than a few people who've been taken for a ride by people they've met through chat rooms.

I don't know if your friend is one of them or not, but you should have some sense of whether she's on the level or not.

How about offering to lend rather than give her the money for the fare?

See how she reacts and take it from there.

Unbelievable, why the hell does he just not call her, then go over there, instead of him expecting her to come here.

Who is giving the advice here, they need to find another job do they live in the real world lend her the money, what a joke and who is going to go and ask for the loan back when she doesn't pay up, the newspaper journalist you couldn't make it up
