and damn my arms are tired!!!

But then, the rest of me is tired too. I was up for about 30 hours, and just awoke from a few hours sleep.

Looks like the forum has been a bit busy lately. Looking forward to writing some more, when I can string more than three sentences together at one time.

I'm just about caught up on my sleep, and beginning to get things settled at work, so it's time to get caught up here on RMP. I hope that everyone had a happy and safe passage into 2004.

As this was my fourth journey to Russia this year, I no longer feel compelled to write a trip report as I once did. Perhaps it's because I feel no one wishes to hear of life with my new family, as it's not as fun to read as the trials and tribulations of someone venturing out to meet new people in new places. Or maybe it's because it's become more difficult to draw a line between what is public and what is private. But I do have several stories I will share over the coming weeks that are interesting, or at least worth a good chuckle. I always keep an eye out for things I see when I'm in Russia that are worth retelling.

It was wonderful to be with my fiancée and son again. I did notice, when we arrived at her flat, that it seemed to me like I had come home from a long trip (even more so than my return to our condo here in Vermont!). We had a busy three weeks, celebrating holidays and birthdays, meeting friends (both her's and mine), spending time with her family, and making preparations for her interview which comes up in a few days from now.

On the down side, I only saw the sun for possibly 10 hours the entire time (3 weeks) I was there. But it was unseasonably warm, which for Tver means that the weather was seasonable if you were in Vermont. But then, VT was sub-zero F a good deal of the time while I was gone (as it is tonight as well ). I also never had a good nights sleep while I was there this time. Don't know if it was jet lag, stress, or sleeping on pull out/fold down couches (tough on the back).

Well, starting tomorrow, I'll begin posting some of the more interesting stories, as well as some things I saw that make one say "Hmmmmm...".

Glad you had a great time Conner. I've only been to Minsk twice and I've experienced a little of tht feeling at home feeling you mention. So I can only imagine how much it rang true for you.

Looking forward to hearing these stories.
