For $8 additional, they e-mail you digital photos of her and the flowers, and these have been excellent. She was absolutely beside herself with excitement -- said that no one had ever received flowers at her office before, and that I am now a legend in office lore. A really beautiful bouquet, delivered in Minsk, with photos, runs $124.

She can use it like a regular Visa or get Belarusian rubles out of an ATM. After the initial card delivery, you can add money electronically whenever you want. It either comes out of your own bank account or is charged to your own credit card. When you consider how little even good jobs pay in Belarus, you can probably double her standard of living for a few hundred dollars a month.

Considering how difficult it is to send things to Belarus, these are two of the better ways that I have found to make her feel very special.
