I have a couple questions about getting married in Belarus. What kind of paper work is need to be married in Belarus? Where do we get it from? How long does it take to get it?Do we bolth have to present to get it or can my girl apply for it before get there? I am sure i will have many more so if someone who has been through it before or someone knows alot about the process i would love to hear what you know.

Thanks in advance

Well this will get you started. It sounds like what I needed when I was married in Russia.

As I know, it's more easy to make documents if you are going to get married in Belarus than to get a fiancee-visa for your girlfriend. And she can apply without your presence. Your just need to send your documents to her.
Good luck, Chris!

Here is another thread about USA person gettig married in Russia. As I said, I read the first web page I sent earlier about getting married in Belarus. It sounds like what I needed so this thead should help. Have your girl go to ZAGS and ask what they require.

One requirement was to wait 30 days after applying. This was waved for me because I had a letter from my employer stating I couldn't stay 30 days and was needed back at work. Maybe my girl bribed them a little but it all worked. I would have your girl ask about a waiting period and if a letter is required since you can't wait 30 days after applying ... or maybe you can!

Good luck and congrats on your soon to be wedding!

Thanks for the info. Its been a great help so far. Going to Russia where did you have your passport translated. Can that be done over there or would i have to do that before i leave here.I have no idea where that kind of service can be done in canada or if it will be able to be done in time.

My Girl and i were talking about get married at a later date but we decided today that if it was possible we would get married on the trip i am about to take.Which is less then a month away.So i guess i will have to scramble to get done all the stuff i need to do here.

I hope there will be some way we can cut down the wait time because there is no way can wait that long on this trip.I guess my beautiful Julia and I will have alot of work to in the next 25 days if we are going to get it done in time.

Please keep the info comming
Chris

You don't need to get your passport translated. Yes you do have a lot to accomplish. I'm not sure where you will get your apostiles since you live in Canada but it took me almost 2 weeks because I used FedEx to send to my state capital, the only place to get Apostiles in my state.

As I said, it is important your girl should ask ZAGS what is needed because Belaus may require different documetation then Russia.

Correction: Khashyar and Lena had an Orthodox ceremony in Belarus; their lawful marriage registration took place in the US.
