beware: online background check providers

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

BEWARE!
If one reads around MOB forums, it appears as if a number of "FSU investigators" or other background check providers online have been busted for their inconsistent or else fraudulent services.
Even some of the most "established" charachters ( forget about small-time scammers who ask you to wire money and then disappear ) are somewhat shady: multiple identities or contested identities; no walk-in facilities; mystery business practices; mixed reviews leaning on the bad side, whatever.
As a plus, some claim it is "impossible" to run a proper "investigation" business in the open in some FSU countries, due to some "law" ( again: other say this isn't true ).
So it could just be another scheme to extract money from gullible people.
Buyer beware.

Ham,
It is nice to see you take the "side" of the persuer (sp?) for once!
I know, you do not directly shoot down such men, but at least for once, you appear to be looking out for their direct interests instead of just spruking doom and gloom for all that choose to walk this path....

I know, it will be hard for you to accept this compliment, but I do mean it as a compliment. Hope you are as happy as me,

Sam.

Ask yourself a question: what do i have to gain or loose?
Answer: nothing.
I tell it as i see it based upon my private (albeit limited, whatever ) experience.
- i have no profiles/tours/whatever to sell.
- i need no self-esteem online boost claiming i am "better" than "the other guy who's the real loser", and i am a success and, and, and...while he is not.
- i am very down to earth with/about myself first.
I wish i had been more/better informed many years ago; that might have saved me grief & money loss...
I just sit back, relax and in turn laugh last, thus i laugh best.

Many people have criticized me over the years; some have been very vocal and rude; few even went as far as to harass and threaten me.
Guess what?
Most of these few idiots met their fate already, which questions their "superiority".
A couple on here (that i recall ) and a very serious case elsewhere.
This nutcase harassed me in every possible way and made threats and claimed to act as avenger on behalf of the then RWG clique.
Fair enough.
I was surprised to see his picture in good display in a RWG thread shaming "losers", calling him a loser and a monkey.
And no, it wasn't me under an alias but one of the local pundits registered in 2001, whom he so bravely championed slandering me back in time.
So...
I sit back, relax and two times out of three i will be laughing last & laughing best.

Ham, good post, thanks for the info. Now all we have to do is find legitimate investigators for background checks.

Just curiouse what exactly do you call like "legimate" investigators

Is it about legal license to collect personal informatiom about people at Russian territory (in that case I can inform you that it's prohabitted by Russian laws in 99% cases and is allowed only in cases with lost people. ( and some other such cases when issue is about treatment to life itself) "Curiosity" of some foreigner dude is NOT that case. But such curiosity could be seen like a crime if a "target" managed to get a proof of that "curiosity"

If it's about legal detective agency in principle matter then it should be an agency with detectives who HAVE WORKED in their past in FSB-criminal investigation departments-etc ( THAT is a rule for getting license for private detectives) but NOT an agency organised by some girl who is married to foreigner and lives abroad now.

If it's about legal information got in not legal way ( like data bases from some black market) then I wonder what could be really usefull informaton got in such way because trust me there is NO such databases like "What it's on minds and in hearts of women who are going to marry foreigners"

good luck: you'll need it.
On another forum a post of mine LINKING BACK TO AN OLD POST ON THE SAME FORUM (!), which discussed & exposed TWO "online FSU top investigators", but especially the second in the end, "mysteriously" disappeared (the old thread disappeared as well ) in the context of the SECOND "online detective" claiming the first is nowhere to be found and probably fraudulent.

well, it all depends on the country.
In the USA you can easily run internet searches for companies offering SSN and identity verification (EG identity, birth/criminal records etc ) FOR A FEE.
Here in Europe it is tougher due to privacy laws, but still there are COUNTLESS WALK-IN SERVICE AGENCIES (here in Italy) able to run criminal records, property, litigation, birth, etc checks (obviously for a fee ).
You can find such providers running an internet search.
Beware, though: while the practice of background checks IS established, some of these US online providers are fraudulent.
In at least one instance i bought what was advertised as "thorough identity search" on one US citizen from one of these online providers ( i don't remember which one, since it was in the year 2000 ), and what i got back was basically no more than what a smart person might have found for free ( and i had ) using free internet sources.

PS
In the case of the two "top online FSU detectives" above ( initials M.M & E.G ), the second alleged the first is nowhere to be found, hence a non-existing person or something. E.G claimed research about M.M showed conspicuous change of corporate identities, business place, whatever, and pointed out incongruence in M.M's own literature. It ws argued some of M.M's responses were inconclusive.
On the other hand, in the "mysteriously disappeared" thread, allegations were made about E.G's partners-investigators on the very same grounds.

as well, beware of "testimonials"...
a noted "Jim antiscam site" recently updated its advice and switched between the two contenders above, from M.M TO E.G, of course after praising M.M for ages as "good and reliable".
That is just another proof these loons go after the biggest ante, or trade immunity and cooperation.
Whatever that is, they have no clue besides their deep pockets.
Ah, full webpages in stock.
