I am bored on a Sunday night so I thought I'd post a few airplane pics that I thought were cool.

Posted by: Cheburashka

Post two of three...unless I find something else that is cool.

Posted by: Cheburashka

Last one.

the first one-- is super scary.

If I had to choose, I'd pick the 2nd picture and hope they remembered to drop the landing gear.

Do you want it "with" or "without" the white missile under the wing? That's a bad-ass MiG.

Vodka and Boeing don't mix.

The photo of the F16 is a photo of the US Air Force's Thunderbirds at an Air Show. He had to eject and of course the plane crashed.

My question is: How many of those screens will be working a year or two from now.... Many times it appears that the FSU designs and builds great things but.......can't or doesn't maintain them.

Posted by: EasyTarget

Joe: My guess is that all of them will be working for 5-6 years with no problems. Most LCD screens are manufactured in Asia, i.e. China, Korea and some in Japan. The thing that breaks is the motor that raises and lowers the screens. #1 reason they break is that passengers getting out of their seats bang in to them, knocking them out of their track. However there is an override latch that can be used to manually raise and lower the latch.

Russian planes are really well made. Tupolev's have some of the lowest maintenace costs per ASM. The best for maintenance cost is the Fokker 100 from Netherlands. Too bad they went out of business.
